Red Soviet Union

Chapter 9: Notorious

Inside the boots were legs wearing black stockings. After taking off the stockings, the ankles were a little red.

It's nothing, just a sprain, just rest for a few days! Andrei was about to speak when he heard Belenko say, "Comrade, where do you live? I'll take you back. Your foot is injured, you can't move too much."

Send it back? Women and alcohol, it seems that women are more lethal. Andrei looked at Belenko's red face and knew that this guy was a reserved type. He usually didn't talk and only knew how to drink. Now when he saw a woman, he was like a boar in heat.

"It's okay. I live in the hotel across the street." The girl said, "I can walk back by myself."

"That won't work. I have a car here. Get in." Belenko said, pointing to the open-top GAZ-69.

The girl looked at the car and finally nodded.

Smelling the alcohol on Belenko's breath, Andrei knew he had to be the driver. After getting in the car, Andrei started the engine. Belenko in the back seat began to communicate with the girl: "Comrade, why are you staying in a hotel? Where are your family members?"

"I'm a geography student at the University of Berlin. I'm a senior this year. I like it here very much, so I chose to do an internship in the Far East. I came a week early. I was bored in Vladivostok, so I came here to walk around," said the girl.

It turned out to be a college student! And he was from the University of Berlin, which is a higher education institution. Belenko immediately became more interested: "Okay, there are many interesting places in our Soviet Far East. I can take you around."

"My name is Annie." The girl said, "You can just call me by my name. No need to call me comrade."

Comrade, this title that can be heard everywhere in the Soviet Union, is somewhat inappropriate to call the girl in front of him. After hearing the girl's words, Belenko immediately followed up with: "Annie, my name is Belenko, and I am currently a soldier in the Soviet Union."

Soldier? Anne's eyes were full of curiosity: "You are here, and you are a soldier, are you in the Air Force?"

Just then, a roar was heard overhead and a MiG-25 flew over from high above.

Belenko looked at the girl seriously and said, "Not the Air Force, but the Air Defense Force. Actually, I am the pilot of the MiG-25."

"Squeak." Just then, Andre in front of him stepped on the brakes in a tactless manner: "Student Annie, we're here at the hotel."

As he watched the girl limping up the stairs, Andre said, "Comrade Captain, do you want to go up with us?"

"Comrade Captain?" Andre raised his voice.

"Let's go have a drink." After returning to the car, Belenko took a reluctant last look and said.

The bar was very clean. The wood was taken directly from the mountains outside. After being split, the bar counter was made with the texture of the wood. A bearded boss in his forties looked at the two people sitting on it.

"What would you like to order?"

"Two bottles of vodka." Facing the cup that the boss brought out, Belenko pushed the bottle with his hand, took it directly, bit open the bottle cap, raised his head, and blew a few mouthfuls into the bottle.

Vodka, this is a strong liquor! In addition to the aroma, it is also spicy. I took a gulp of it and my stomach felt like it was burning.

All soldiers can drink, and Andre could also drink before he traveled through time, but the vodka is still too strong. After just one sip, Andre felt that the gas coming out of his nose was spicy.

"Andrei, do you know? You are the first person in the regiment to buy me a drink." After a few sips of alcohol, Belenko finally started to nag.

In the Soviet Union, alcohol was a necessity for every man, and it was very common for men to drink together. But now, Belenko actually said that this was the first time someone invited him to drink?

"In my previous unit, I was sent for a mental evaluation because I talked back to my superiors. After I came here, no one wanted to communicate with me. Andrei, you know what I hate. My wife came with me to Chuguyevka, but she disliked the remoteness of this place and asked me for a divorce every day. Two months ago, she took my son Kimka back to Moscow."

"I feel that my life is meaningless under the current system, but I am powerless to change or overthrow this system... I have no home. I haven't heard from my mother for 25 years, and I haven't seen my father for 8 years. Now my relationship with Lyudmila is over. My son Kimka, even if I can see him a few times in my life, he will become a complete stranger to me. I have to find a new way of life..."

Andre suddenly found that his eyelids began to twitch wildly, and he finally remembered who the guy in front of him was!

Viktor Ivanovich Belenko, this famous guy in history, is notorious because he flew the pride of the Soviets, the MiG-25 fighter, to the island country and gave it to the Americans!

Before he defected, Americans were in awe of the Soviet MiG-25, believing it to be a top-secret fighter jet made of titanium alloy using various high-tech means. However, after they actually came into contact with it, they discovered that it was actually a low-quality fighter jet made of stainless steel. In the eyes of Americans, this aircraft no longer had any secrets. The Soviet Union had to replace all its friend-or-foe identification devices, and at the same time, this fighter jet that frightened the West no longer had any deterrent power. The serious consequences of this incident cannot be overstated!

We must not let Belenko defect! We must prevent this from happening! Although the current Soviet system has various problems, this country is still the homeland of the Soviet people! Regardless of the reason, defection is unforgivable!

At this moment, Andrei wanted to return to the army immediately and report Belenko's rebellious tendencies to his superiors, but after thinking it over again, he stopped.

Although Andrei was sure that Belenko would defect, this drunken nonsense alone was not convincing at all, and Belenko would feel extremely wronged. How could Belenko admit it before it became a fait accompli? If he reported it now, at most he would have to wait for Belenko to sober up and then have a verbal battle with the commander or even the KGB agent.

It seems that we need to think of another way!

…………

An island country, 45 kilometers west of Tokyo, in Fussa-cho, Tama District.

The American flag is flying in the sky above here. As a victorious nation, the United States arrogantly entered the island nation and achieved the goal of stationing troops on the island nation to balance the Soviet Union and China. And here is the Yokota Air Base, the headquarters of the U.S. Forces in Japan and the Fifth Air Force.
