Warhammer: In the Name of the Emperor

Chapter 456: Rebirth From the Ashes: Krieg

The sewage in the mud pit rippled in the explosion, and the equally muddy military boots stepped through it. In the splashing water, the Krieg warrior wearing a gray-blue military coat walked forward with a laser gun on his back. He was very strange. He was covered with mud and stains from head to toe, but the Lucius laser gun on his back was extremely clean.

In addition, there was his gas mask, but there was nothing special about it here. He was surrounded by Krieg people who also wore gas masks. They were tightly wrapped from head to toe. The gray military coats and leggings covered their whole bodies. Under the steel helmets on their heads was the iconic gas mask.

In this not-so-large muddy trench, there were a large number of Krieg people standing. They walked silently between the trenches reinforced with wooden boards and sandbags on both sides, and their muddy boots stepped on the wooden floor and moved forward.

The only difference between this Krieg warrior and his nameless compatriots around him is that he has a number on his brief. The numbers embroidered on his sleeves and shoulders are his only feature, his only name, J-173.

J-173 walked between the trenches that were constantly exploding on both sides. Dust and turbid water kept falling from the gray sky above his head. They poured down from the air and hit J-173's helmet. He passed through the crowded trenches with a gun on his back, bypassed the communication trench and entered the deeper trench area.

There was a whole row of Kriegs on the march. They marched through the narrow trenches with guns on their backs. They passed by J-173 silently in the heavy rain and wind, and J-173 turned from their side and drilled into the tunnel on the side.

He walked through the dark tunnel with a gun on his back, moving along the oil lamps hanging on the walls on both sides. The explosion of the shells above kept shaking them, making the already dim light even more turbid, but this did not bother J-173. He walked through the darkness and headed towards the light at the end.

Passing through the hole supported by the wooden frame, he came to the underground command center, where there was only a simple table with a map on it and cups and magazines pressed on the four corners of the map. The lantern was placed on the map table, providing a precious light source.

A Krieg man wearing a dark brown military coat stood by the table. He raised his head and looked at another Krieg man beside him. The only difference between him and him was the color of the military coat and the dirty breastplate worn by the man at the table. There was no other difference.

"Order the 7th Battalion to reorganize the attack, seize the mill position before dark, and hold it." said the Krieg officer wearing a breastplate. The medals on his dirty military coat were his only symbol of identity. The Krieg man beside him nodded slightly and turned away.

He walked sideways from j-173 into the tunnel. Now the officer noticed j-173. He looked up at him and put his hands on the table. "Report your unit, number and position."

j-173 immediately stood up. Although he was dirty, he was still as straight as a most qualified private soldier. "Private J-j-173, 1st Platoon, 4th Company, 2nd Battalion, I come to report. We captured the first trench on Sero Heights according to the order, but we lacked manpower and the position was lost that night."

"The position was lost?" The officer lowered his head and looked at the map in silence for a while. He raised his head again soon. He looked up at J-173, "Why did you come back?" "The battalion commander ordered me to return to report the situation."

The officer looked at J-173 standing at the entrance of the cave and stood up. The two gas masks looked at each other, and the faces underneath could not be seen at all. "How many people are left in your battalion?" "I am the last one." "Very good then, join the attack." "Yes, sir."

J-173 turned and left the underground command center. The officer behind him nodded to the communicator at the simple wooden table. The latter responded silently and turned the radio in front of him. The order was immediately issued.

J-j-173 walked out of the tunnel, he bent down and walked out of the ash caused by the explosion, turned around and walked from the trench to the first trench with a gun on his back. In the heavy rain, J-173 came to the Krieg people who had gathered here and stood by. Standing together in the rainstorm, standing a little further away, you can no longer find J-173's position, because all the Krieg people wore gas masks and stood silently in the puddles waiting for orders.

A political commissar walked behind the soldiers in front of the trench from behind J-173. He jumped onto a wooden box from an opening and came to a Krieg officer wearing muddy armor. The two looked at each other, and the political commissar blew a whistle as he looked at the messy battlefield ahead.

"Forward! For the Emperor!" the commissar shouted loudly. The officer beside him immediately drew his saber and jumped out of the trench. He rushed to the battlefield in front. Groups of Kriegs climbed out of the trenches behind him. They climbed up the imaginary ladders, stepped on wooden boxes and pedals and poured out of the trenches.

J-173 was among them. He climbed up the ladder and jumped out of the trench with a gun in hand. Then he rushed to the trench position in the heavy rain with the surrounding Kriegs.

They suddenly poured out from the edge of the entire trench, like a gray wave rushing into the vast no-man's land full of craters, sewage, mud pits and barbed wire. Everyone held a gun and looked straight ahead.

All the Kriegs ran in the rain in silence. No one spoke, no one shouted. Everyone rushed straight in that direction with their bayonets on. The shells above their heads kept exploding around them. The Kriegs rushed forward from the explosion, stepped over the muddy puddles, and rushed through the battlefield full of corpses.

Soon, the enemy also began to respond. Artillery fire and barrages whistled from a distance and ruthlessly shot into the Kriegs' army. In an instant, the charging soldiers fell down like a harvest.

But even so, no one spoke. The people who were hit just fell silently in the muddy land, while the people behind them continued to rush forward with their guns. J-173 held a bayonet and rushed into the rain of bullets in front.

He charged silently, even his breathing was so light, as if he had already been dead and rushed straight forward. He stepped over the muddy land, bypassed the huge craters of the shells, and waded through the dirty muddy water to rush to the target trench.

Shells slid through the air, bombarding the trenches in front like raindrops, and huge dust scattered into the sky. J-173 rushed through the no-man's land with the surrounding Krieg warriors in groups, holding a gun. Among the soldiers who kept falling, they rushed to the front of the trench.

The edge of the trench was close at hand, but suddenly a machine gun roared there, and the muzzle of the gun spit out deadly flames.

As the surrounding soldiers fell to the ground, J-173 jumped into a crater on the side. He fell into the accumulated water with floating mutilated corpses and rushed to the side of the crater. He climbed up the muddy slope and came to a distance in front of the roaring machine gun. J-173 took off the wooden-handled grenade on his chest, pulled out the safety and threw it out.

He lay on the slope and waited for a few seconds. With an explosion and screams mixed in, he stood up. J-173 climbed up the crater with a gun, stepped over the bodies in front of the trench, and rushed to the shooting position blown up by the grenade. The machine gun there had disappeared, leaving only a gap for him to enter.

Behind J-173, more Kriegs rushed into the trench. They fired at the trench with their Lucius laser guns in their hands. The enemy screamed in response, and the Kriegs were still as quiet as death, as if the people who stepped into the trench were a group of dead people who had already died.

J-173 jumped into the gap. He rushed into the trench with a laser gun. He rushed down the slope, picked up the bayonet and stabbed it into the chest of the traitor who stood up from the ground. The traitor fell to the ground in response. On the wall on the side, the rebel whose entire lower body was blown away raised his head and looked at him groaning, but turned around and shot him with one shot, without even a little hesitation or mercy.

He walked past the bodies of the rebels with a gun in hand, and moved forward along the tunnel with a gun with a bayonet. From behind him, another Krieg also rushed in from the gap. He followed behind J-173 with a gun in hand.

They moved forward from the muddy trenches, and suddenly bullets were fired from the corner on one side. The Kriegs immediately dodged backwards, and then took advantage of the gap to stride forward and fired two accurate shots to kill the two traitors in the corner.

They continued to move forward and came to the entrance of a tunnel. A rebel carrying this appeared from it. J-173 quickly opened his gun muzzle with a shot, and then stabbed him in the chest with a bayonet with his backhand. He stepped on his chest and pushed him into the tunnel while the rebel wailed. Another Krieg beside him then threw a grenade into it.

The explosion came out of the tunnel with dust and screams. They immediately leaned out and fired a few more shots at the inside. The scorching light of the laser gun illuminated the entire entrance of the tunnel.

Behind them, more Kriegs jumped into the trenches. They silently rushed into the gullies with bayonets, clearing trenches along these muddy and narrow tunnels. The entire trench in the pouring rain was filled with the sound of laser guns and screams.

J-173 also walked forward with a gun. He walked towards a communication trench in front. Suddenly, a rebel rushed out from a corner behind him. He raised a chain saw sword and took advantage of the Krieg warrior behind him before he could react. He slashed his shoulder with a sword and removed his entire arm.

The traitor stabbed the Krieg warrior's chest with a sword in his backhand. After he fell, he turned his head and looked at J-173. He opened his bloodshot eyes and roared at the Krieg warrior.

He swung his chainsaw sword and slashed at him. J-173 raised his laser gun to block in front of him. The roaring chain saw cuts roared violently on the laser gun, sparks flew everywhere, and the traitor backhanded the laser gun and let it fall into the water under the wooden board beside him.

J-173 looked up at the man, and he roared and raised his chainsaw sword to stab at J-173, but the latter jumped back to avoid the stabbing bayonet, and then grabbed the arsenal shovel hanging behind his waist, and he pulled it out instantly and rushed back to the rebels.

"For the Blood God!" He roared and stabbed with a bayonet, but it was obvious that the Krieg people were better in the end. He swung the arsenal shovel to meet him head-on. The sharp edge of the shovel, like a knife, collided with the chainsaw sword, and sparks sprayed instantly. The Krieg people raised their feet and kicked the murderous traitor on the knee, and stepped forward at the moment he fell to the side, and slashed his neck with a shovel.

The traitor screamed, and the Krieg man gripped the ordnance shovel and pulled it out, then grabbed the wooden handle and chopped it down again, neatly chopping off the head. The roaring chainsaw sword suddenly stuck into the mud, and mud sprayed out along with the rotating incision.

j-173 held the shovel in his hand. He raised his head and heard the sound of treading water. He looked at the communication trench in front of him and saw several rebels emerging from it.

They seemed to have discovered j-173 and the dead body in front of him. Several rebels cursed and pointed their guns at j-173, but at the moment when the latter held the shovel tightly, the rebels were shot into a sieve by a burst of gunfire, and the hot laser beam opened several holes in his body.

j-173 looked back at the top of the trench behind him. On the wooden bridge on both sides stood several Kriegs. They nodded silently to j-173 with smoking laser guns, and the latter also nodded slightly in response. The Kriegs did not stop, picked up their guns and stepped over the wooden planks and rushed into the trench.

The remaining Krieg, J-173, also bent down and picked up his gun from the water. He continued to move forward along the trench with his gun in hand, and soon came to the end of the communication trench to meet up with other Kriegs. There were many Kriegs who came from the surrounding trenches and regrouped in the rainstorm.

From the beginning of the charge to now, not many Kriegs have arrived in the trench, but once again, they seized the position in the name of the Emperor and swept away all the rebels here. As the gunfire gradually subsided, the entire trench fell silent, without cheering or shouting, but only a group of Kriegs who stuck together without saying a word.

Everyone started their work, moving corpses, clearing the accumulated water, and moving the remaining heavy weapons to the other side of the trench. J-173 was among them. He put his gun behind his back and bent down to drag a corpse.

But he stopped just after grabbing the man's leg. He turned his head to one side and seemed to hear a vague sound outside the trench. J-173 listened to the approaching sound and suddenly loosened his leg. He grabbed the laser gun in the splashing water and stepped onto the trench pedal.

The other Kriegs behind him also stepped onto the trench. Everyone raised their guns and aimed at the shadow that appeared in the pouring rain in front of them. It was a tall shadow that appeared in the rain and approached the trench with a low roar.

The Kriegs pushed the machine guns into the trench and aimed at the huge outline that emerged. Soon, more tall shadows appeared behind the giant. They rolled over from the muddy ground. The huge tracks crushed the fallen trees and corpses along the way. The bright flames from the jets behind them lit up their figures.

There were dozens of rebel heavy tanks, scarlet in color, decorated with Chaos symbols, driving towards the Kriegs. The coaxial machine guns on the front of the tanks fired, instantly smashing several people's heads. They fell backwards to the ground, and none of the remaining Kriegs escaped. They all lay on the trenches and began to fire forward.

The red light of the laser gun shot into the rain and hit the tanks. The heavy machine guns on one side also began to roar, but the weapons in their hands alone could not penetrate the front armor buried in the steel behemoth. The leading tank raised its muzzle and fired a shot in the direction of the trench. The whistling shells engulfed the roaring machine gun positions in an instant.

Other tanks also began to roar, and shells and strafing barrages whizzed and hit the trenches. J-173 immediately bent down and hid in the trench to avoid the exploding shells. He squatted in the trench, and the tank beside him rolled up, crushing the overloaded side of the trench. The heavy tank tracks rolled into the trench and crushed a fallen Krieg.

But even if he was crushed, he did not make a cry, and disappeared silently under the tank tracks. Only blood flowed into the surrounding water, turning it scarlet.

J-173 bent down, and a tank also drove over his head, but he was a little luckier. The tank did not crush the trench, but drove directly through the trench above his head, but the huge tracks still sprinkled a large piece of dust on J-173's helmet. He was blocked by the shadow, and the tank drove over with a roar.

J-173 looked at the track of the tank. Without thinking, he climbed out of the trench and rushed towards the Krieg trench. However, he did not want to escape. Instead, he rushed to the side of the tank and pulled out the last few grenades on his waist and stuffed them all into the track of the tank. After pulling out the fuse, he immediately ran back a few steps.

An explosion sounded behind him. The grenade broke the track of the tank. After the giant beast drove forward a few steps, the broken track fell off and hit the ground. His tires stopped while spinning in the air. There were other Kriegs who repeated the same trick on the track on the other side and broke the track on that side.

J-173 took a wooden-handled grenade from a Krieg who came behind him. He quickly stepped forward and stepped onto the side pedal of the tank. He pulled open the grenade fuse and stuffed it into the shooting window. Then there was an explosion and screams from inside.

The Krieg man jumped off the tank, holding the laser gun in his hand and standing by the side door of the tank. The armored door was pushed open in the billowing smoke, and several rebels who were badly damaged by the explosion fell out, but they were immediately shot into sieves by the Krieg men who were waiting outside the door with guns.

The turret hatch on the roof was pushed open at once, and the commander with headphones climbed out from inside. He pulled out his pistol and aimed at J-173, but before he could shoot, J-173 shot him in the head with a shot. The laser beam opened a hole in his head, and the commander immediately fell on the turret.

j-173 pulled the bolt of the laser gun to change the bullet. He inserted the new energy box and looked around at the remaining tanks. The Kriegs had blown off their tracks with grenades, and then destroyed the arrogant Chaos tanks in the same way. Fires burned from their turrets and thick smoke rose.

They had just destroyed the tanks with the flesh and blood of infantry without any heavy weapons. It was almost a miracle, but the Kriegs were pushed away by the explosion that suddenly exploded at their feet before they could celebrate.

j-173 flew out and fell on the muddy ground. He rolled several times and then lay down. The Kriegs supported themselves on their muddy coats and climbed up. He stood up from the burning tank, raised his eyes under the gas mask and saw the burly Space Marines in front of him.

He stepped over the trench, holding a chainsaw sword branded with a blood-red skull pendant and walking towards the Kriegs. The Kriegs beside the burning tank immediately raised their laser guns and fired at it, but the laser beam hit the armor and refracted and flew out almost instantly.

The Krieg warrior fired at his helmet. In the red light that kept flashing on the surface of the black helmet, the Black Legion giant walked up with a roaring chainsaw sword, swung it and cut the Krieg warrior in front of him in half, and then chopped another one on the side with his backhand. The steel helmet branded with the Imperial Skyhawk instantly shattered, and the skull underneath it collapsed into blood.

The Krieg warriors surrounded him with guns. They did not retreat, but surrounded him and fired fiercely at the traitor. The red laser beams kept hitting the traitor Space Marines, leaving many burnt marks on the surface of the black armor, but the traitor still strode forward, constantly waving and slashing the surrounding Kriegs.

The Krieg warriors' coats were torn, their gas masks were broken, and blood sprayed on the lenses, staining them red, but the warriors still had no intention of retreating. They continued to surround them, completely indifferent to the chainsaw sword that harvested lives.

In an instant, blood flew and corpses fell. In it, j-173 saw the Krieg warrior behind the tank. He held the mass grenade in both hands and hid aside. Wait until the other Krieg warriors used their lives to attract the Chaos traitors to advance to the tank, and the man grabbed two grenades and rushed up.

He pulled open a bunch of fuses of the mass grenade and rushed towards the traitor. The Black Legion traitor also looked at him after chopping down the last Krieg warrior, but it was too late. The Krieg warrior rushed up with the grenade, and a huge explosion exploded in an instant.

J-173 raised his hand to block in front of him. A smoking Space Marine helmet fell at his feet. He looked at the helmet, but almost immediately heard the next sound of footsteps. In the smoke of the explosion in front of him, another Black Legion traitor walked out of the smoke, holding a kinetic war hammer.

There were more traitors following behind him. They were holding bolt guns or standing around the trench with swords and axes. The scarlet eyes of the traitors looked at the last Krieg.

J-173 glanced at the laser gun that fell not far away. The Lucius laser gun had broken and lay in the mud. The cracks in the energy box were jumping with arcs.

He was silent for a moment and pulled out the arsenal shovel at his waist. The last Krieg warrior took a fighting posture to face the traitors. There was no fear under his mask.

The traitor looked at him and raised his head. He walked up with a power warhammer in one hand. The Krieg warrior lowered his head and raised his arsenal shovel to look at him. At this moment, a strong wind suddenly came from behind him. His coat fluttered violently forward, and a lightning arc whizzed past his head.

The arc instantly hit the advancing traitor, who immediately raised the warhammer in front of him. The lightning strike on the hammer pushed the Black Legion traitor back several steps. His power armor boots rubbed a straight mud pit on the ground. He stepped back and raised his head to look at the burly giant behind the Krieg man.

The Krieg man also turned his head to look at him. It was a burly giant wearing a tall power warhammer, with a black wolf skin hanging on the back of his neck, and lightning dancing in his eyes.

He raised the warhammer with a roaring wolf head in his hand, and more Space Marines came behind him. Some of them held chainsaw swords with both hands, and some wore white robes and held a huge double-edged sword. The giants stood behind the Krieg man.

"Are you ready?"

The Krieg raised the shovel in his hand, and the giant behind him also grasped the lightning hammer tightly. The last Krieg stood between his angels of death.
