Warhammer: In the Name of the Emperor

Chapter 490 Rebirth From the Ashes: Wen Yanar

The luxury car stopped under the steps of the Governor's Palace. After the waiter opened the door for the passengers, the petite girl got out of the back seat. She held the waiter's hand and stood on the street in front of the Governor's Palace.

She has been here many times, sometimes by herself, sometimes with Jack bringing her, but most of the time, it is not as lively as it is today.

The garden in front of the Governor's Palace was filled with all kinds of luxurious private cars, and floating cars were constantly flying back and forth in the air, carrying a carload of male and female VIPs in colorful clothes swaggering through the city.

They poured up the stairs from all sides and walked towards the gate of the Governor's Palace. The girl looked around at the bustling aristocratic guests, while the waiter nodded to her humbly.

"Miss Wen Yaner, please come over there, Master Jack is waiting for you."

Wen Yanal nodded to him, picked up her skirt and walked up the stairs. The waiter was right. After she passed through the crowd and hustle and bustle, Jack found her at the colonnade in front of the door and rushed over with a wave of his hand.

"Nal, why are you here?" Jack said complainingly, as if he was in a hurry.

"As a lady who only received your urgent call in half an hour, it's already a miracle that I can find suitable clothes and put on makeup within half an hour, right?"

Wen Yanal protested, "You don't want me to come here wearing these pajamas with my hair messed up, right? My face is painted in the same costume as a clown."

"Well, that seems interesting, but oh, that's not it." Jack said, with excitement flashing on his face, he came forward and pressed his shoulder in Lu Jian's suit.

This startled Wen Yanal. Although Jack was always so careless, he would not touch her skin directly except for his hands. He had only kissed her once so far.

But today, Jack was obviously very excited and more energetic than ever, so Wen Yanal planned to hear what he was excited about first.

"They're coming!"

"What are they?" Wen Yanar asked in confusion, "Tell me clearly, who are they?"

"Didn't you see the fleet in orbit?" Jack asked, while Wen Yanal smiled and looked up at the sky, where there was dense haze.

"It's a pity that the Mechanicum's factories always bring us beautiful hazy days."

After Wen Yanar said this, Jack also noticed his stupidity. He blushed slightly with shame, then cleared his throat and spoke righteously.

"Then, let me introduce to you the visit of the Supreme Marshal of the Empire, the Lord of Lightning, the Golden Legend, and the King of the Astartes, Vito Constantine."

"What?"

"What the hell, he's here! Vito Constantine is here! The Vito Constantine we heard in the story came to us with an entire army of sky warriors, the Astartes army. It’s inside!”

Jack said eagerly, with a child-like look in his eyes. Although he was indeed a child, and he was a child himself, after all, he was half a year older than him, so he was more calm.

After a moment, Wen Yanal took some effort to understand what Jack meant, and then looked around at the guests. They entered the hall under the watchful eyes of the guards, and the bustling sound accompanied by the lights coming from the windows.

"I didn't see Astartes. Didn't he come with an escort?"

"I brought it, I brought it, that's why I asked you to come. You said you wanted to see the Astartes, right? It was the last time we were looking at illustrations in the library."

Jack said, taking Wen Yanal's hand and holding the two warm hands together.

"Come on, they are inside, and the marshal has agreed to see you." He grabbed Wen Yanar and walked inside, ignoring that she was still holding up her skirt to avoid being stepped on.

"Hurry up! He's waiting for us!"

Jack was quite excited. Wen Yanal looked at her wrinkled skirt with a sad expression, and then cast a complaining look at Jack. However, when she saw his smiling face, Wen Yanal's complaint disappeared. Then it disappeared.

She let Jack pull her and passed through the entrance of the Governor's Mansion. The guard outside the door naturally recognized the young master here. No one asked them like other distinguished guests and let them pass.

Jack held his hand and led him through the crowd, passing through the governor's corridor and the main hall, followed the commotion through the side gardens, and then turned into a remote corridor that was rarely visited by people.

"Wait, Jack, what are we doing here?" Wen Yanal asked, she felt like they were two little mice sneaking into the banquet kitchen.

"Hiding people, damn it, aunt invited everyone here, I mean, everyone." Jack said angrily, "Including my uncle's family, by the Emperor, why didn't their car get in the middle of the road? Break down on the road, or blow up?"

"Jack."

"What? They don't like you, don't they? So stop speaking for them."

"I don't, but he is your uncle after all, right? And even if you don't consider this, his family has considerable wealth. If you become the governor, they will be willing to let that money be used for you."

"Plus a nasty wife," Jack muttered under his breath, as if to make sure he didn't hear, but he did.

He led Wen Yanar through the quiet side corridor, and got out from behind a door. Wen Yanar took his hand and came to the outside of the banquet hall where singing and dancing were flourishing. This was a wide corridor leading to the center of the Governor's Palace. The vaulted galleries, high ceilings and huge walls are like being in a church.

"Jack? How did you get out of here?"

A laughing female voice said, Jack cursed in a low voice, but he still couldn't hide, and he looked at her with a forced smile.

"Hello, cousin, I didn't expect you to come too."

Wen Yanar looked over, it was Jack's cousin, the daughter of Tilfan, Yaerfan, who was as proud, arrogant and annoying as her father.

She was a few years older than Jack, taller, and had gray hair and green eyes like Jack, as well as delicate features, although in Wen Yanar's opinion, the makeup was too thick.

Yaerfan wore a dress that was not luxurious enough, followed by a group of noble ladies, and gently waved the fan in her hand to block her face.

"Of course, how could I miss such a banquet?" She said as she walked up, "Is this her?"

She said with a sarcastic tone, looking up and down at Wen Yanar, with a sarcastic smile on her lips, and the noble girls behind her also laughed secretly.

"She is really dressed like a commoner. Tell me, cousin, in which brothel did she meet you?"

"Enough, Yarfan, I won't allow you to humiliate my fiancée like this!" Jack immediately protected himself, stood in front of himself, and faced his cousin who was a head taller than him.

People always say that girls grow faster than boys, and this sentence is true. Among the people present, only Wen Yanar can look Yarfan in the eye on an equal footing.

"Yes, ex-fiancée, whatever, I will replace her anyway." Yarfan walked up, sniffed it, and blocked the fan in front of him, showing a disgusted expression.

"Your Majesty, is that the smell of engine oil? Oh, I forgot, her family buys cars, just like my family's maintenance servants."

Her words caused the noble girls to laugh, but Wen Yanar was not angered. She looked at Yarfan calmly, with a cold light in her eyes.

"Indeed, I like to contribute to the family by myself, and what about you? Have you learned to eat with a fork by yourself? Or do you still need a servant to feed you?"

Wen Yanar's irony made Yarfan look unhappy. Obviously, she was not unable to accept the irony, but she could not accept being suppressed by a girl of common origin.

"I won't argue with you, commoner, he will soon forget you, you will go back to repair your car, and I will become his fiancée and wife, and my family, the pure noble blood will replace your lowly blood."

Yarfan approached Wen Yanar and said, Jack immediately stood between the two and in front of his fiancée.

"Yarfan, since you are my cousin and we are blood relatives, I will forgive you for what you said. Now leave here! Otherwise, I will ask the guards to kick you out."

Yarfan stopped, she stood in front of Jack, much taller than him.

She closed her fan, bent down and smiled close to Jack's face, "Of course, I will listen to you, my dear fiancé."

"I am not your fiancé, and you will not be my fiancée. Now, leave." Jack looked quite courageous today, and he spoke like a governor. Perhaps he got his approval after meeting the marshal, which gave him confidence as a fiancé.

"Yes, remember, dear, our family motto is "Blood is better than sword""

After she said that, she stood up, glanced at Wen Yanaer, and turned away, taking her little followers with her. "It's not good to get her pregnant while playing with her and leave an illegitimate child."

Jack was angry and wanted to scold back, but was stopped by Wen Yanaer.

"Okay, Jack, don't argue with her. She's just a spoiled aristocratic girl."

"But she humiliated you!"

"I know, but you defended me, right? That's enough." Wen Yanaer smiled warmly. Looking at that smile, Jack gradually calmed down. He nodded slightly and took Wen Yanaer's hand.

"Come on, he's waiting for us."

"And maybe we can tell the marshal what happened just now. I want to see how her father will answer in front of the marshal."

"Jack."

Before Wen Yanaer could say anything about his childish behavior, the big boy took his hand and ran forward quickly. Wen Yanaer was pulled by his skirt and a faint smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.
