Warhammer: In the Name of the Emperor

Chapter 478 Rebirth From the Ashes: The Original Bakery

He took the urban rail line to the center of the city. Vito could now further confirm that the whole world must be a dream. He had never seen the current Cosonia.

Tall buildings stood in the city. Advanced floating bridges constantly changed their positions, accurately regulating and dividing the traffic on the road. The moving ground rose and fell, making the whole city seem to be built between the clouds.

The sun shone high above Vito's head. The sun's light hit the smooth facade of the building, reflecting the ripples of mirrors. He looked around the streets in confusion.

Then he looked at the floating guide robot leading the way in front of him. It was a small spherical thing with light strips flashing on both sides and only one round eye on its head.

"Are you really not taking me the wrong way?" he asked, while the robot rolled its eyes, and the magnetic generators on both sides kept opening and closing. "Yes, sir, according to the Cosonia tourist guide map, the place you want to visit is here."

"You mean, I'm going to a bakery?" Vito asked in surprise. There was indeed a bakery in front of him. Even from a long distance, he could already smell the aroma of bread, and the temperature was properly controlled.

But why did he want to find a bakery?

"According to the address you provided, this is it. This guide has ended. I wish you a happy day, progress and unity." The small hummingbird-like robot flew away after saying that. Vito looked at its figure going away and looked at the busy streets outside.

After he got off the rail transit, he got lost as expected. Today's Cosonia is completely different from what he remembered. He asked a lot of directions and got lost several times before he finally found the tourist service station with the help of an enthusiastic citizen and got the guidance of a guide robot from the automatic station.

It was an AI robot, with an intelligent core that could never exist in the Empire. It was a very polite program, but it was as inhuman as the Mechanicus. It was introducing the city scenery to Vito the whole time, ignoring his other small talk and jokes.

The Bingfeng robot brought him here and said that this was the destination, but Vito always felt that it was either deceiving him or his own mind was deceiving him.

This was an alley, on the side of the main road, with deserted streets on both sides. He expected to see something magnificent here, or at least something that would surprise him like the city outside, but this was just a pedestrian street that looked remote.

Vito looked around, and finally, after a lot of hesitation in his mind, he followed the fragrance of the bread and walked towards that place. He was wondering all the way whether the idea that suddenly appeared in his mind was playing tricks on him, but soon his idea was dispelled.

"Come and take a look! Super bread! As long as you eat this bread, you will be as strong as me!" A big man shouted in front, Vito looked up, and then his eyes widened.

"Torgadon?" He shouted in surprise, and the other party also found him, which was not difficult, after all, he was the only one on the whole street.

"Hey? Vito, you are finally here, we have been waiting for you for a long time!" Torgadon, a member of the Four Kings Council, said happily. He stood at the door of the bakery and greeted him. Although Vito was still confused, he still walked up.

"Did it go smoothly along the way? Did anyone recognize you? I guess not, did you expect the commander-in-chief to come here? Or alone." Torgadon rubbed his nose, as humorous as in memory, optimistic and just being close to him made people happy.

"No one, Torgadon. You..." Vito hesitated to speak, without saying the words "you are still alive", and Duifu smiled and leaned over, holding Vito's arm, and the flour on his hand was stained on his shoulder.

"Haha, I know it's funny. Who would have thought that we would make bread one day? Right? But there's more to it. Hey! Guys, look who's here?"

Torgadon pulled Vito into the bakery. After opening the door, he saw other people in the store. Locke was kneading the dough on the dough board. His hands were covered with white powder, even his face and light golden hair were covered with it.

Vito looked at Locke in surprise. He was wearing a large apron and looked at him in the sun. "Vito?" "Yes, Gavial, it's our old buddy. Hey! Aximander, you say hello too."

Torgadon shouted to "Little Horus" Aximander not far away. He was concentrating on observing the baking of the dough in the oven. He was also wearing an apron, and the only fragrance of bread was on him.

Little Horus looked up, slightly surprised at first, then laughed, "Hello, Vito, long time no see, the last time we met was at the demobilization banquet, right?"

Vito looked at him and looked around the store. The sun shone from the window into the store with a high ceiling. Breads of various shapes were placed on the shelves, releasing charming fragrance in the sun.

He looked at everything around him, as if he was dreaming. After a long time, he responded to him in confusion, "You. Opened a bakery?"

"That's right!" Torgadon beside him patted his chest proudly, "Bake it yourself and sell it yourself! The Four Kings Council brand bread, eat it and you will become as tall and mighty as us! Believe me, it's a good buy!"

"Don't lie to him, Togaton." A man with a pigtail came out of the kitchen, carrying a large bag of flour. He put the flour at Locke's feet from behind the counter, then stood up and looked at Togaton.

"Hey, Ezekel, can't you be more optimistic? Why do you always tear me down like this?" Togaton protested, but the man with the pigtail folded his arms and looked at him, "But this is the fact, how many breads did we sell last week?"

"We are just starting out, trust my intuition, Ezekel, we will definitely be popular! Then you won't complain every day anymore." Togaton smiled and patted Vito's shoulder. The force was very strong, and it was indeed suitable for kneading bread, but Vito's shoulders were not bread.

He left Aximande, rubbed his shoulders and looked at the empty street outside, "You should change your store, Torgadon, there are too few people here."

"You think I don't want to! The rent of the shops on the commercial street is too expensive, we can't afford it. This is the place closest to the commercial district. Don't look at the few people now, wait a few days, and the celebration will be different!" "We will make a lot of money, and then move into a bigger store and make more money!"

Torgadon, a member of the Four Kings Council, said ambitiously, while Abaddon sighed helplessly, put his hands on his hips and adjusted himself The apron on his shoulders, "Look at us, Torgadon, a member of the Council of Four Kings, a Luna Wolf warrior is selling bread here? Do you know what others will say when they see it? They will laugh their heads off."

"Okay, Ezekel, you've complained enough! You can choose not to retire, but didn't you come here with us? So stop arguing."

Vito looked at Abaddon with a complaint on his face. When he just appeared, Vito subconsciously thought that it was some Warmaster of Destruction who appeared in front of him, and instinctively wanted to draw his weapon, if he had brought a weapon.

But then, Vito saw comfort in Abaddon's eyes, no hostility, no desire to kill, only a simple sense of calmness. The man in front of him didn't look like a warrior at all, although he didn't seem to be satisfied with it.

Abaddon still couldn't calm his restless heart, and that mood was directly reflected on his face. He looked over, and Vito subconsciously asked, "Why did you retire? Abaddon, you don't like this kind of life, right?"

"That's because of me." A deep voice said, Vito looked at that place and saw a taller figure walking out. He walked out from behind the door with his head down, patting his hands full of dough.

"I'm sorry, my son, for making you stay here with us to do this, but you can pursue whatever you want, you are a wolf."

"I swear to follow you forever, my lord, no matter where you are." Abaddon looked at him and said resolutely, and he smiled and patted his shoulder, "I am most proud of having you as my offspring."

"Ahem." Torgadon deliberately cleared his throat and raised his head with a smile. He looked at him and nodded with a smile, "Of course, there are also you, Torgadon, Loken and little Horus, you all make me proud."

Vito looked at him standing between the bread and the dough. There was no madness in the eyes of the tall giant, no desire for power, and no smell of blood on his body, only a strong aroma of bread.

He looked over and smiled cordially, "Hello, Vito, how is Terra? Didn't Guilliman drown you with endless paperwork?"

"Ha! That's why I chose to retire, otherwise I would have fallen into those troubles." He smiled brightly and patted the wet dough in his hand, but Vito still looked at him, and countless opposite emotions surged in his heart when he looked at him.

He looked through the window, shining in the sunlight with floating flour particles, with a bright smile on his face like the sun, "Have you heard about Russ? He found another habitable planet in the outer galaxy and is looking for immigrants to move there."

"You did find a job for that frizzy wolf, and all of us." Horus smiled, "I'm glad you won, otherwise if the Emperor won, damn, can you imagine what it would be like?"

"I think I can." Vito whispered after thinking for a moment, he really can, because he saw another world line, another story.

Compared to here, it was like a bad nightmare, a nightmare that he didn't want to go back to. He would rather fall asleep forever in this beautiful dream, in the fragrance of this bread.

Horus looked at Vito and smiled, then took the freshly baked bread basket from Aximand, which was filled with freshly baked fragrant bread, "Thank you, little Horus, all right, come on, Vito, she's waiting for you."

"She?"

"Of course it's her, she's here, so you're here, right?" Horus said as he walked into the door with the basket. Vito looked at Torgadon, who smiled brightly and patted his back, "Go, don't let the beauty wait, she's been waiting for you for a long time."

Vito thought for a moment and nodded. He walked in from behind the bar door opened by Abaddon. Little Horus at the oven wiped the back of his hand with his apron and smiled and nodded at him. Vito looked at his face, and in an instant, the burnt face in another timeline appeared in front of him, like a bad nightmare.

Vito slammed his head hard to drive the picture out of his mind. He strode into the door. Horus was waiting for him there. After Vito followed him in, he led him through the corner full of flour, walked past the wall with kitchen utensils and the stove, and opened another door.

The bright sunlight shone in from behind the door, shining on Vito's face for a moment, making him unable to open his eyes, but gradually he adapted to the sunlight and saw the scenery in front of him.

It was a garden, where there was a tall pear tree. The gravel road led to the tree, and there was an old bench on the road. A woman sat on it with her legs sideways reading a book. Silver hair fell from the side of her head, shining in the sun like molten silver.

Her profile was breathtakingly beautiful under the sun, and the long eyelashes on her eyes fell down, covering the purple eyes, which were raised and looked at Vito at the door.

She showed the most beautiful smile, closed the book in her hand and smiled at him, "Hello, my love."
