Chapter 1183 Difficulties

Minister Zhang's words were mostly jokes. In fact, with the country's strength, it is relatively easy to cope with military expenditures.

Besides, Fan Wubing's current investments have become real enterprises. Since they are enterprises, they must look like an enterprise. How can they become a bottomless pit with no returns but only investment?

Fan's Investment Group was able to make early arrangements for some projects with huge investments when the government was having trouble making a choice. This was already a great contribution. It is obviously impossible to let them fill the holes endlessly. After all, the employees of so many companies under its umbrella also need to be supported.

At present, Fan's Investment Group has supported more than 1.5 million employees nationwide, making it the most worthy domestic investment group. The number of people who make money from the largest enterprise group should double this number, and the impact on the entire national economy is quite huge.

Even the top leaders cannot fail to see the importance of this and do something that kills the goose that lays the golden eggs.

To describe it in a not-so-appropriate way, Fan's Investment Group has become too big at this time.

The military's performances are also more solemn, with mostly group dances and singing of military songs. However, what surprised Fan Wubing was that the singers who participated in the performances, especially those first-line stars, were basically wearing military uniforms, from the General Political Department, the Navy Political Department, the Air Force Political Department, the Second Artillery, and the Comrades Art Troupe. And so on.

"Why don't you have a program from the General Armaments Department?" Fan Wubing asked curiously.

"We do that" is not doing our job properly. They are all art troupes under the Political Department. Do you think a unit can do this? "Minister Zhang said calmly.

Fan Wubing smiled, and then said that art is also a kind of weaponry, and it is very useful.

He said this not out of thin air, but there are some basis for it. For example, after the mainland implemented the reform and opening-up policy, the popular culture of Hong Kong and Taiwan immediately swept across China, which gave Taiwan new content for mainland broadcasts, that is, a large number of pop music.

The first song to be broadcast was Di Lijun's song, because she was the first Taiwanese singer known and appreciated by mainland audiences.

Many people now have actually forgotten. Songs such as "The Moon Represents My Heart" and "Sweet Honey" were first broadcast to the mainland through the Voice of Free China. It is worth mentioning that because Teresa Teng's songs were deeply loved by mainland audiences, she was also awarded the Certificate of award.

The reason is the same. The mainland also attaches great importance to this aspect. The art troupe has existed before liberation.

And it has continued to this day. Most of the first-line stars active on various stages now have military backgrounds. Even the occasional wild singers will be recruited by the military according to their characteristics once they become famous. This is not uncommon in the industry.

Just like in today's performance, many singers usually show themselves in casual clothes. Only in these regular military performances will they be fully armed and ready.

However, after being used to seeing the image of singers in strange costumes, it feels a bit different to see them all wearing military uniforms.

"Girls wearing military uniforms do have a heroic meaning. "Minister Zhang also said after watching.

After the performance, there was a dance party. The leaders were all excited to dance with the girls. Those who couldn't dance well would hug a girl they liked and rub against her. However, Fan Wubing didn't feel anything about it and hid aside to drink and eat.

Military things are always more refined, and the same goes for food and drinks. Fan Wubing took a drink in one hand and a cake in the other, and lay on the sand in a dark corner, listening to music and watching the people dancing inside. He ate very comfortably.

But some people didn't dance. An admiral came over and found Fan Wubing with a bottle of Maotai.

"Mr. Fan, have a drink?" the other party said.

Fan Wubing turned his head and found that this was the newly promoted admiral Chen Guangyi, so he sat up. "Drink it, anyway, I'm free, and you invited me, so I can't ignore your face. "

Speaking of which, the two of them had known each other for a long time. When Fan Wubing first proposed the design of the blizzard torpedo, Chen Guangyi was only a lieutenant colonel. He was only in his thirties, but now he is almost sixty, and his military rank has been promoted to admiral.

I usually don't think about this, which is fine. At this time, Fan Wubing saw Chen Guangyi and couldn't help but sigh. Time flies fast.

And Chen Guangyi also felt this way in his heart? When he first met Fan Heng and Fan Wubing, Fan Heng was just a middle-level cadre of an enterprise, and Fan Wubing was just a three-and-a-half-year-old child. At that time, the generals who were in charge were all founding generals. Now, things have changed, and the characters have been replaced one after another, even himself. After being promoted to the position of admiral, it is impossible for him to stay in office for many more years.

But Chen Guangyi still has a dream in his heart.

"Mr. Fan, I heard that a large project of Southeast Heavy Industry is about to start recently. When can we use our own aircraft carrier? . Chen Guangyi pulled Fan Wubing aside, and asked him while drinking with him.

Fan Wubing hesitated. This kind of thing should not be announced to the world, but Chen Guangyi's level is here, and he has known him for many years. So he said carefully, "I also hope to see it soon, but there is nothing at present. I can't predict the exact time. After all, there are many technical and process problems that are not easy to solve."

Chen Guangyi nodded. As a naval commander, he still understands Fan Wubing's words.

It's not to mention the fierceness. There is an aircraft landing device on the aircraft carrier, which is very technical.

The most advanced aircraft carrier at present is catapult takeoff, which requires strong scientific and technological strength. At present, only the United States and France have mastered this technology. Aircraft carriers of other countries take off on skids.

Aircraft must rely on their own power to take off and land on the length and limited deck space. Either they must use specially designed short-distance or vertical take-off and landing aircraft, or they must greatly sacrifice the combat performance of the aircraft and can only allow the aircraft to take off with a light load. Therefore, ski-jump take-off is very suitable for aircraft such as Sea Harrier and Porridge, and is also the choice of light aircraft carriers in various countries, but it is not suitable for conventional carrier-based aircraft.

If the technology is not good, the catapult cannot be built. Using ski-jump take-off to make do has a great impact on the combat effectiveness of carrier-based aircraft, so it is best to have external force to help the carrier-based aircraft take off. The best way at present is the catapult.

A large number of tests and combat practices have proved that the carrier-based aircraft of large and medium-sized aircraft carriers, especially large-tonnage fixed-wing aircraft, are more advantageous to catapult take-off.

For example, the US Nimitz-class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with a full load displacement of more than 90,000 tons, and the French Charles de Gaulle nuclear-powered aircraft carrier with a full load displacement of nearly 40,000 tons, their carrier-based aircraft almost all use catapult take-off.

Steam catapults have high ejection energy and good ejection performance. They can eject carrier-based aircraft from static to altitude within a distance of tens of meters. Steam catapults are composed of ejection system, steam system, tow cable tensioning system, lubrication and control system, etc. When working, high-pressure steam is generated by the boiler and stored in the steam chamber. Before ejection, the tow cable hooks the carrier-based aircraft on the reciprocating vehicle. When the high-pressure steam is filled into the cylinder barrel, the huge pressure of the steam pushes the piston. The piston drives the reciprocating vehicle. The reciprocating vehicle drives the carrier-based aircraft to slide forward, thereby ejecting the aircraft.

The type of catapult currently installed on the US Nimitz-class aircraft carrier can eject two carrier-based aircraft with a take-off weight of about 30 tons per minute. If four sets of steam catapults are used at the same time, it only takes 20 to 30 seconds to eject an aircraft during the day, and the interval is extended to 80 seconds at night due to reasons such as line of sight.

However, the disadvantages of steam catapults are quite obvious. The thermal efficiency of steam engines is relatively low. In order to burn fresh water into steam, a large amount of energy must be consumed, and extra space must be reserved for storing fuel. If the heat energy is directly drawn from the power device on the ship, such as the nuclear power device, the power used for navigation will be greatly reduced, and the ship will be reduced accordingly. When the aircraft takes off and lands, the aircraft carrier needs to move against the wind at a higher speed. Reducing the speed is naturally not conducive to take-off and landing.

Secondly, aircraft carriers are divided into many parts and have complex structures. In addition to leaving space for equipment in the cabin, steam catapults also need large water tanks to store fresh water. It takes about one ton of fresh water to launch a medium-sized fighter. In this way, the size and tonnage of the entire aircraft carrier have to be increased, and steam catapults can only be used for large and medium-sized aircraft carriers.

At present, except for the United States and France, which use catapult take-off on aircraft carriers, the other seven countries with aircraft carriers almost all use ski-lift take-off. In addition to financial and material reasons, the more important thing is that the aircraft carriers of these countries are basically small aircraft carriers. The limited tonnage, length, width and deck area make it difficult for these aircraft carriers to install steam catapults with longer track lengths and similar to the American type.

In fact, the United States is the only country in the world that has truly passed the technical and technological test of steam catapults. It is not possible to develop a steam catapult with a shorter track and stronger power in the short term.

In view of this situation, the navies of small and medium-sized countries have to follow the example of the British Invincible-class aircraft carrier and adopt the sliding takeoff technology to solve the urgent problem. Taking off from the aircraft carrier by sliding, the frequency of aircraft dispatch is not affected by the power and failure of the catapult. It has the advantages of simple operation and good safety. The cancellation of the catapult also helps to simplify the design of the aircraft carrier, reduce the cost, and save training and maintenance costs.

Of course, the sliding takeoff method also has many disadvantages. The runway length required for sliding takeoff is greater than the length of catapult takeoff.

For example, the taxiing distance of the Soviet aircraft under normal takeoff weight on the ground is about 680 meters. Using the 200-meter flight deck with a sliding angle on the ship, it can take off from the ship under normal circumstances, but it cannot guarantee its safe takeoff at the maximum full load weight, and its combat effectiveness is therefore limited.

In addition, the aircraft taking off and landing may interfere with each other, which is a major defect of this type of aircraft carrier. Early warning aircraft and anti-submarine aircraft cannot use the taxiing method to take off, so they have to use helicopters as carrier-based early warning aircraft. This is a choice made out of necessity.

Although the former Soviet Union later designed and partially built the third-generation nuclear-powered aircraft carrier Ulyanovsk, and equipped it with a flat deck and steam catapults, so that it can take off and land fixed-wing early warning aircraft, the aircraft carrier was dismantled and sold as scrap steel due to the disintegration of the Soviet Union and the lack of military funds.

Compared with catapult takeoff, conventional carrier-based aircraft takeoffs using a sliding deck require a larger area of clean deck, which will result in a reduction in the parking spaces on the upper deck of the aircraft carrier. Most carrier-based aircraft have to be placed in the lower hangar, and the capacity of the hangar is limited, and it is inconvenient to transport aircraft up and down.

Judging from a catapult alone, China does need to overcome many difficulties to develop an aircraft carrier.

Therefore, when Fan Wubing spread his hands. Admiral Chen Guangyi also felt a little depressed. The actual difficulties are here, and it is indeed not subject to human subjective will.
