Chapter 1465 The True Tathagata: The Truth of Buddhism
Xitian, also known as Xitian Paradise. It is the pure land of the Buddhist kingdom achieved by Amitabha Buddha. Buddhism often talks about saving sentient beings and going to the bliss of the Western Paradise, which is to extradite people to the Buddha Kingdom of the Western Paradise Buddha.
In the entire Buddhism, the status of Amitabha Buddha can also be said to be extraordinary. Although Buddhism was founded by Sakyamuni Buddha, the entire Buddhism is not the one-word hall of this layman named Gautama Siddhartha. Amitabha Buddha occupies the position of one of the Buddhas of the third generation, and in terms of status and qualifications, he is already completely inferior to Sakyamuni Buddha.
What's interesting is that there is also a Medicine Buddha in the Hengsan Buddha. However, in terms of status and popularity, this Medicine Buddha is not at all as good as the other two in Heng III Buddha. It is even said that even Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, lagged behind Amitabha Buddha in some respects.
For example, people in the world often talk about Amitabha and Namo Amitabha, but no one ever talks about Sakyamuni Buddha or Medicine Master Guangwang Buddha. For another example, everyone hopes to enter the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss, but no one has ever said that they want to enter the central Possora world presided over by Shakyamuni Buddha.
Although in terms of Buddhism, the Central Whirling World is a land of tolerance where all living beings have sinful sins and must endure all kinds of troubles and sufferings, the evil world of five turbidities. The Western Ultimate Bliss is a pure land, a perfect world of solemnity, purity and equality. As it should be, the latter should be more desirable. But in any case, Shakyamuni Buddha is weaker than Amitabha Buddha in this respect. And the unreasonable part of this is as outrageous as you have worked hard to create a company, but the result is that your partner occupies the head office.
This is not the strangest place, the strangest doubts still appear in the story of Journey to the West.
As we all know, the end point in the story of Journey to the West is the Daleiyin Temple in the Lingshan Mountain of Xitian mentioned in the book. Xitian, of course, refers to the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss, where Amitabha Buddha's kingdom is located. But Lingshan is not the territory of Amitabha Buddha. Because the original name of Lingshan Mountain is Lingjiu Mountain, it is the place where Sakyamuni Buddha taught the Dharma. Even if it really exists, it should be in the Whirling World, not in the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss.
In addition, there are doubts about Buddhism in Journey to the West. The ultimate goal of Journey to the West is to spread Mahayana Buddhism to the east.
Mahayana Buddhism has always been the Dharma of Amitabha Buddha, who emphasizes the salvation of all beings. Hinayana Buddhism saves oneself, it is said to practice one's own body, overcome wisdom, and finally obtain great liberation and great freedom. It is a method to achieve positive results through practice. But Mahayana Buddhism is different. Mahayana Buddhism emphasizes saving people. They believe that all through the Buddha nature and the actions of bodhisattvas, they can make others see their nature and enlighten their minds and achieve positive results. For example, the so-called putting down the butcher knife and becoming a Buddha immediately is the thought of Mahayana Buddha.
Regardless of whether these two Buddhist teachings are good or bad, we can see the importance of Amitabha Buddha in the entire journey to the West just from the so-called Mahayana Buddhist teachings in the Western Paradise. As we all know, there is only one Buddha in Journey to the West, and that is Tathagata. Many people regard the Tathagata as Shakyamuni Buddha, but this is actually just a prejudice after copying what others say.
Tathagata, the Sanskrit sound is Duo Tuo Ajia Tuo. It means that there is nowhere to come from, and there is nowhere to go, so it is called Tathagata. This title does not only refer to a certain Buddha, but a respectful title for a powerful person. Therefore, the Tathagata in Journey to the West does not necessarily refer to Sakyamuni, he may also refer to Amitabha, or even the future Maitreya Buddha.
From the known signs, the so-called Tathagata is more likely to be Amitabha Buddha, the Lord of the Paradise in the Western Paradise, rather than Sakyamuni Buddha as people always think. This point, whether viewed from the perspective of the existence of the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss or Mahayana Buddhism, is a proof. And if you don't believe it, there is actually another proof.
For the Buddhas of the past three generations, each Buddha has two side attendant Bodhisattvas. From the perspective of Journey to the West, there is only one most conspicuous Bodhisattva in the whole story, and that is Avalokitesvara. What's interesting is that Sakyamuni's side attendant Bodhisattva is not Avalokiteshvara, but his side attendants are Manjusri and Samantabhadra. On the contrary, Avalokitesvara is the side attendant of Amitabha Buddha.
Avalokitesvara is no ordinary existence.
Her mana and supernatural powers are not inferior to the Buddha's. The reason why she did not become a Buddha is entirely because her ambition has not been realized. For such an existence, if it is not the immediate boss, anyone will drive her to stay still. And looking at her active performance in Journey to the West, the identity of Tathagata is actually obvious.
Of course, if calculated in this way, the entire Buddhist sect might be in chaos. But in fact, if you compare it carefully, you will find that this is the real Buddhism.
It is certain that Buddhism, which was born in the fifth century BC, was created by Sakyamuni. But Sakyamuni may not be the master of Buddhism's revival.
He went from seeking the way to practicing meditation and asceticism, and then to realizing enlightenment and enlightenment. In the end, he got great wisdom, great liberation, and became a Buddha. This can be said to have laid the foundation for the prosperity of Buddhism and developed a path. However, this does not mean that he can directly make the entire Buddhism prosper to its later stage.
The creation of any force starts with a grassroots team, and Buddhism is no exception. If the Buddhism of the grass-roots team wants to prosper, it must face tremendous pressure. This pressure is nothing but the Brahmanism forces that rule the roost in India. And with the power of Buddhism, even if Sakyamuni, an unborn celestial being and Buddha, is in charge, it is impossible to be the opponent of the three god kings of Brahmanism. Among other things, it is estimated that Shiva is enough for him to bear.
From the Buddhist classics, we certainly cannot see the decline of Buddhism against Brahmanism. But from historical allusions, we can see a little clue.
First, Devadatta rebelled. This cousin of Sakyamuni was the leader of Buddhism at the time, and his rebellion and split must have had an impact on Buddhism. Then, the two virtuous fell into extinction. The fact that Shariputra, who is almost equivalent to the actual leader of the Buddhist order, died of illness, and the fact that Moggallana was killed by a Brahmin, is almost inevitable, making the development of Buddhism worse.
In the end, the demise of the Sakya clan was a fatal blow to Buddhism.
After experiencing heavy blows, even a venerable like Sakyamuni could not bear it. According to historical evidence, Sakyamuni passed away in Kushina and was refined into relics.
Buddha bone relic, this is a real thing. And this alone is enough to prove that the so-called Sakyamuni Buddha has long since ceased to exist. Indestructible, in fact, is just talking. In the face of cruel reality and war, even a character like him is almost bound to be destroyed.
And only when the founder like him is gone, Amitabha, one of the Buddhas of the third generation, is qualified to become the sole ruler of the entire Buddhism.
There is only one Buddha, and that is Amitabha. And Amitabha brought the Western Heaven Buddhist Kingdom and Lingshan Dharma Land into the Heaven Realm, which has actually explained what kind of catastrophe the entire Buddhist sect has encountered.
There is only one of the Buddhas of the third generation, and only Avalokitesvara, Manjusri and Samantabhadra are left to serve Bodhisattvas. In addition, Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva and Maitreya Buddha belong to the latecomers. In fact, there are only a few great supernatural beings left in the entire Buddhist sect. Others, such as the eight hundred arhats, the four heavenly kings, and the eight tribes are still alive, but they are not the mainstay of the entire Buddhism after all.
The attainment of Buddhahood is the true mainstay of Buddhism and the future of the entire Buddhism. However, it is not easy for the Buddhist sects who have been knocked down to the void in the battle of gods and have to merge into the heavens to obtain those disciples who can prove the Buddha's fruit status. Talent is scarce everywhere. Even if they changed the boundaries, they came to the more inclusive Middle Earth to preach. Fomen will also face serious competitive pressure.
However, after all, Amitabha Buddha is the master of Buddhism ZTE. Unlike Sakyamuni's tolerant attitude, this Buddha's behavior has always been domineering, and his methods are also very extreme. This is not in line with the Buddha's freedom, compassion and equality, but it is undeniable that such means are indeed necessary to revitalize Buddhism.
Buddhism can be developed to the scale it is today in China, thanks to Amitabha Buddha who claims to be the Tathagata. But as the heavens fell into the depths of the void, the development of Buddhism inevitably fell into a bottleneck.
Middle-earth Shenzhou is still there, and Heavenly Court and Taoism can still endure the expansion and development of Buddhism. After all, there is enough food on the plate, and it is not a big deal to have an extra pair of chopsticks to share the food. But when China's Middle-earth China broke away from the control of the heavens, things became different. If you can't even fill your own stomach, how can you, a foreign guest, eat a lot of food?
So since then, the development of Buddhism has been restricted. Even if it is said that they colluded with the Jade Emperor of Heaven to fight against Taoism, the result is not much better.
After all, Jade Emperor is not a fool. It is impossible for him to do that kind of stupid thing that just got out of the tiger's mouth and then into the wolf's den. While cooperating, it also stumbles the Buddhist sect, making it difficult for them to move forward. This is not a problem at all for him who is accustomed to using intrigue.
But now, he can no longer do so. Because he who wrote such an edict obviously planned to use the condition of loosening restrictions in exchange for the support of Buddhism.
Under this condition, Buddhism will certainly not turn a blind eye. The only question is, what kind of conditions should he offer in exchange for the greatest support of Buddhism. And this is the biggest problem Taibaijinxing faces. He came here, which shows that he already has a certain foundation on how to solve this problem.
It's man-made. Having already made such a determination, he certainly cannot stand still at this time because of scruples. So immediately, he shouted in the direction of Lingshan Mountain Gate.
"Heavenly Messenger Taibai Jinxing asked to see Tathagata Buddha, and also asked Dharma Protector Bodhisattva to announce. He said that the Jade Emperor had something important to discuss with Buddha!" Browse reading address:
