Chapter 1473 Conferring God Matters Buddhist Thoughts
"Follow His Majesty's will."
Reading out the edict is an important part of the process of enshrining the gods. The formation of the priesthood is not just a kind of canonization by the emperor of heaven. If you have the ability, you can form your own priesthood. Just like those gods in Buddhism and Taoism.
Of course, there are risks involved in doing so, and the risks are not small. Because if you do this, then it is tantamount to occupying a hill and making yourself king under the rule of the central court. This is not only a provocation to the supreme ruler, but also a challenge to the entire collective in power. Any strict ruling class will never allow such a thing to happen.
That is to say, the Heavenly Court ruled by the Jade Emperor was too weak and was almost hijacked by Taoism and Buddhism, so they had so many Dharma protectors in private. But even if the Jade Emperor is so incompetent, those canonizations of gods still have to go through the formal way from the heaven and his hands.
This is the difference between righteousness and official certification. Without the imperial edict from the Heavenly Court, even if you become a god, you are just a wild god and hairy god worshiped by one party. Everyone gets it and punishes him, and sooner or later he will be beaten to death. Therefore, as long as people who are a little enlightened will not be willing to do this, most of them will seek an edict from the heavenly court, and seek for themselves the status of a righteous god in the heavenly court.
It can be said that it is precisely because of this formal requirement. Pronouncing the imperial edict of enshrining the gods has become a very important step.
Because this not only means that you have been made a god, but more importantly, you have been recognized by the Emperor of Heaven, and you have obtained the qualifications recognized by the Heavenly Court. From a potential hostile relationship to a colleague relationship with the gods of heaven, the difference between them is of course different.
In the past, Taibai Jinxing was the one who read out this kind of decree to enshrine the gods, but now, it is definitely impossible for Taibai Jinxing to serve Zhouyi. So this kind of burden fell on Zhang Daoling. And as the leader of a sect, Zhang Daoling happened to be one of the few people in the Heavenly Court who knew the ancient mythology. So he won't make any oolongs, and even fail to complete the tasks assigned by the Emperor of Heaven.
And when he spread out the Divine Conferred Edict and saw the divine inscription on it, he was taken aback for a moment, and then quickly said with a smile on his face.
"Following the decree of Emperor Taiyi, today Zhao Hui Xian Sheng Sheng Renyou King, Erlang Zhenjun Yang Jian. Loyalty is unparalleled, heroic and strong. Special imperial seal is the emperor of Zhenwu Demon Slayer, in charge of the northern stars, managing misfortunes and fortunes, and leading the battle of heaven Official affairs, preside over subjugating demons, subduing demons, suppressing community evils, and other important affairs of the heavens. Entitled... Entitled Mount Sumeru, Western Heaven Buddhist Bodhisattva Arhat, all should listen to his orders. And he is here!"
There are no problems in the front of this edict, but in the back, the part where Mount Sumeru is entrusted with the title of the Bodhisattva Arhat in charge of the Western Paradise Buddhism is really surprising. Even Zhang Daoling never imagined that Zhou Yi, the emperor of heaven, would actually overthrow Buddhism in the end. Fortunately, he thought that Zhou Yi had already planned to let Buddhism go!
certainly,
As the Taoist leader, Zhang Daoling did not object to Zhou Yi's approach. He even said that not only would he not object, but he was even happy to see it happen.
Buddhism and Taoism are very dirty, and they have already forged many enmities over the years. Although it is said that Buddhism has fallen, even the Buddha has disappeared. But this doesn't mean that the Taoist sect will sympathize with him and let him go out of pity.
Controversy over orthodoxy has always been a bloody battle. Like the current scene, they will not have any sympathy at all, but will do everything possible to add insult to injury, so as to completely suppress Buddhism to the point of destruction.
This point, Buddhism itself is also clear. So when they read the edict, before many people had time to react, Avalokitesvara was the first to bow his head to Zhou Yi and responded.
"Fomen is willing to obey His Majesty's will."
At this moment, Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva is still kneeling in the hall, as if she is still begging Zhouyi to let Buddhism go. On the surface, Zhou Yi didn't seem to give her any reply. But she knew in her heart that when Zhou Yi sealed Mount Sumeru to Yang Jian and asked him to lead the Buddhist Bodhisattvas and Arhats, it actually meant that he planned to let Buddhism go. Although there are some elements of humiliation and ridicule mixed in, what is mere humiliation compared to surviving?
Now is not the time to dwell on these humiliations. Once you care about this and start to resist because of this, then the Buddhism, which is already in a desperate situation, will immediately fly straight down and fall into the abyss of eternal doom. Not to mention that doing so would offend a terrifying figure like the Emperor of Heaven, even the ensuing suppression and persecution of the Taoist sect would be enough to cause a devastating blow to the Buddhist sect.
At this time, Buddhism can no longer bear any blow. So instead of doing this kind of self-seeking thing, it is better to take a step back and accept the arrangement of the Emperor of Heaven. At the very least, doing so can also get the protection of the Emperor of Heaven, which to a certain extent can offset the suppression of the Falun Dao Sect.
It can be said that in the blink of an eye, Avalokitesvara has calculated all the interests and relationships clearly. And she immediately chose the option that was most beneficial to her and the entire Buddhism. Of course, her choice cannot be supported by everyone. It is conceivable that there must be many people in the Buddhist sect who are opposed to her approach. But at this time, she no longer cared about the objections of these people.
She is the head of the Four Great Bodhisattvas in Buddhism, and the most powerful person in the entire Buddhism except Tathagata Buddha. From this point alone, she has the qualifications to command Buddhism and make decisions for Buddhism at this moment. In her own opinion, she is now the master of Buddhism. Even if someone dissatisfied with her, unwilling to admit her identity. And absolutely can't change this point, that is, Fomen Zhengshuo is now in her hands.
She and her supporters are the key to the survival of Buddhism. As long as they exist, Buddhism will have hope and a future. And under such a premise, if some people continue to be stubborn, until now they are unwilling to admit the facts and admit that Buddhism is no longer what it used to be. Then she doesn't mind doing some actions such as abandoning the car to save the handsome man, and cutting off the wrists of a strong man.
People who can't see reality clearly are not qualified to survive in today's Buddhism. Lost Tathagata Buddha, lost the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss. Buddhism is almost equivalent to losing the biggest hole card. They no longer have the ability to support those wastes who only know how to recite scriptures and talk about Buddha, but have no real value.
If Buddhism wants to survive, it must get rid of excess burdens, get rid of those burdens. The so-called era of laying down the butcher's knife and becoming a Buddha immediately, and going to the Paradise of Ultimate Bliss with a single chanting of Amitabha Buddha has passed. Buddhism needs to be streamlined, and Buddhism needs real talents. And these people who can't see the reality clearly, those who only know how to talk big but don't give anything, are the ones who will be eliminated.
Avalokitesvara's determination was beyond Zhang Daoling's expectation. He originally thought that these Buddhist disciples would choose to resist, which would more or less give him some excuses to suppress Buddhism. However, things are not what he thought at all. Avalokitesvara chose to obey in the fastest way, and this obedience also made all his assumptions fall into emptiness. This really made him a little regretful.
But although it was a pity, Zhang Daoling didn't take it too seriously. Because at this time, there are more important things that need his attention.
The Great Emperor Zhenwu Destroys Demons, this is the highest position that ordinary people can achieve among the gods of Zhou Tianzheng mentioned by Taoism. He is the most guardian god of the Taoist sect, the highest level god that the entire Taoist forces can place in the heaven.
Don't talk about the three cleans and four royals, the three cleans and four royals are simply not something that ordinary people can be qualified for. Rather than saying that the Three Purities and Four Imperials are Taoist forces, it is better to say that the Three Purities and Four Imperials are special products of the Taoist entanglement with the Heavenly Court during its development.
This can be seen by looking at the identities of the Three Purities and the Four Royals. Existence in two concepts, an ancestor-level thinker. The rest are almost all human emperors and gods from ancient times. Whether there is a door or not, they are all there, and no one can bypass them. So it is not so much that Taoism has made them, it is better to say that they have made Taoism.
That is to say, with these ancient powers, the Taoist sect can re-establish today's heaven after the collapse of the ancient heaven. Without them, the Daoist sect would not be as beautiful as it is today. Therefore, Taoism is powerless against the Three Purities and the Four Imperials. They have nothing to do with them other than offering them up and worshiping them.
And it is precisely because of this that the Emperor Zhenwu Destroys Demons has become the supreme god that Taoism can use. So if possible, Zhang Daoling really didn't want to take out this priesthood.
Taoism has always regarded this priesthood as a taboo. In order to win over the immortals from the ancient times, they could even give away the position of Emperor Shenxiao Jiuchen, but they still hold the Emperor Zhenwu Sangmo in their hands, and it is not easy to allow others to let the old monarch take the role. What is it for? It's not because one day, the Taoist sect will produce a wonderful person, so that he can take this position in one fell swoop.
This is reserved for our own people, not for outsiders. The so-called fat water does not flow out of the field, the meat will rot in the stewing pot, this is the truth. If it weren't for Zhou Yi, the emperor of heaven, who persecuted him every step of the way, and Yang Jian's special status. Zhang Daoling was really reluctant to do this.
However, after doing everything, he can only admit it. Now he only hopes that Yang Jian can accept his love, so that he can help them more in the future. This is not in vain for him to grant this god position. Of course, there is another prerequisite for this is that Yang Jian can successfully become the true martial arts emperor. In Zhang Daoling's view, this is not a big problem.
After reading the edict, the so-called Conferred God Edict has already turned into a stream of light, which directly penetrated into Yang Jian's body. At this time, Yang Jian also suddenly had a vision, which seemed different from before.
