Chapter 496 Rebirth From the Ashes: Act 2 - Death of Olivia

Jack was terrified, really. As a child who was just fourteen years old and whose knowledge of war was limited to stories and books, he was terrified by everything in front of him.

The hideous demons howled and roared in front of him. Jack looked around for anything that could be called a weapon, but he found nothing. Bricks could not kill those demons.

"Jack." Aunt Olivia called him, but Jack did not react at all. He fell into a trance in the sound of gunfire and slashing.

Seeing that shouting was useless, Olivia grabbed Jack's shoulders and slapped him on the head to make him react. Jack looked at his aunt's face with a panicked and confused expression.

"Aunt, this, we should"

"Jack, listen, no matter what happens next, you must stay calm, think about what we taught you, and remember your duties as the governor."

"Aunt, what are you talking about?" Jack didn't understand. At this moment, he also noticed that Olivia had a necklace around her neck today, with a gem tied on it.

"Remember your identity, don't be afraid, for Victoria, you must be brave."

"What?" Jack asked in surprise, still not understanding, but Olivia stood up with a smile, she rubbed Jack's head, and then looked at Wen Yanaer again.

She smiled, "Take good care of him for me."

The gunshot rang out, and before the words fell, a beam of light pierced Olivia's chest, and she fell forward to the ground.

Jack was stunned for a moment when he looked at his aunt who had fallen. His mind was blank, as if he had turned into a tree, and then he saw Sten holding a pistol.

The latter looked panicked and looked at Anthony on the side, but the latter stepped back a few steps and pointed at Sten's arm, "Traitor! He is a pagan!"

"No, no! Wait, me!" Sten begged hurriedly, but it was too late.

Jack, whose mind was blank, instantly had a surge of anger in his heart. He lay on the ground and pulled out Olivia's gun, aiming at the guy and pulling the trigger mercilessly.

The laser shot through Sten's head, and he collapsed to the ground with his voice choked in his throat. Jack held the gun, looked at him, and then looked at Tilfan on the side. He stared with eyes wide open in astonishment.

Wen Yanar rushed up, wearing a blood-stained skirt to Olivia's side to check the injury, and Jack also rushed up, looking at his aunt with tears in his eyes.

As he cried, he heard the gunshot from behind him, and Vito, who saw Olivia lying on the ground, rushed over. He knelt on one knee and took Olivia's arm.

She lay in his arms, looking at the man in front of her with blurred eyes. She smiled with blood, touched Vito's face with her bloody hand, and then her arm slipped and closed her eyes.

"Aunt!" Jack shouted desperately, his face full of tears, and he also noticed the anger that suddenly rose on Vito's face. The cultists behind him who took this opportunity to sneak attack him exploded instantly.

Vito looked at Olivia's face with cold anger. He gently smoothed the bloody hair on her forehead with his hand, and then pulled out the gem pendant on his chest.

Jack looked at Vito. He laid Olivia flat on the ground and slowly stood up. He glared at Anthony in the distance. Jack noticed the fear that flashed across his face.

But Vito said nothing. He turned around and clenched the sword in his hand, and said in a cold tone, "Kill them all."

The people behind Jack panicked for a moment, especially Tilfan, who was relieved when he noticed that Astarte and Vito were slaughtering demons and cultists.

But they were still scared enough. They were trembling all over. Jack looked at the pale faces of many of them, and some turned their backs and scraped something on their arms. Even if the blood was flowing, they continued with a terrified expression.

But Jack didn't care so much now. He knelt on the ground and looked at his aunt on the ground in front of him. He looked at her calm face. The blood stained her clothes red, leaving a bloody hole on her chest.

Jack couldn't remember what happened afterwards. He forgot when the demons were purged and all the cultists died on the spot. He also forgot how he got out.

He stood at the door of the church in confusion, looking at Olivia's body on the stretcher with an empty head. She was covered with Wen Yanaer's wedding dress, just like a white cloth shrouding the body.

Several Mechanicus priests he didn't know carried his aunt's body onto the Archaeopteryx transport plane. A doctor in a white coat appeared on it. They whispered something, but Jack couldn't hear it.

He stood in front of the church with blood all over the ground. Most of his pants were stained with blood. He was stained with blood when he came out of the church. Wen Yanaer, who was also covered in blood, stood beside him and comforted him.

But Jack didn't listen to his fiancée's words at all. His ears seemed to be ringing and he couldn't hear anything clearly.

Vito came to him, he raised his head and looked at him with red eyes.

"Olivia, what did you say to you last?" he asked.

"Like a real governor."

Vito was silent for a long time, he looked down at Jack, and spoke after a long time.

"Then let her do what she wants." He said, "Don't let her down."

"Your Excellency Marshal."

Just as Vito was talking to Jack, Bell came up from the side. The leader of the Ultramarines had blood all over his legs, and his gun seemed to be painted with a layer of blood-red paint.

"We got news that a Chaos rebellion broke out in the east of the planet." Bell said while holding the data plate. "Sir Anthony provided reliable location. I believe the culprit of this shameful attack is there."

Jack noticed that Vito didn't answer Bell. He just raised his head and looked at Anthony coldly. The latter tried hard to pretend that nothing had happened, but Jack could tell that he was scared.

Vito looked at him, his eyes cold and full of murderous intent, but in the end he did nothing. He stared at Tyrfan and the others, who were horrified under the marshal's gaze.

"Remember, kid." Vito suddenly said to himself, "No matter what happens, face them bravely, hold on, and defeat them."

Jack was indifferent for a moment, then nodded after thinking for a while, he gradually began to understand.

Vito also nodded to him, then handed the gem in his hand to a chaplain of the war group, and then strode away. Bell and Lancelot led their companies to follow him.

Jack and Wen Yanal looked at the Thunder Eagle taking off.

"Governor Jack."

He looked behind him and saw that Anthony was calling him. He had a heated argument with Tyrfan and several others, then scolded them against all odds, and then looked at him.

"The current situation is chaotic and we must hold an emergency meeting," he said.

"As the new Governor, you need to run this meeting."

"Yes."

Jack looked at him and said, and then looked at Wen Yanal, and he understood.

"In the name of the Emperor, I will."

"I will defend my duty." He swore secretly in his heart, to his aunt and to the marshal.

At this moment, this fourteen-year-old child was as tall as a golden statue of an emperor.
