Chapter 478 The First Lesson of School

Everything she saw made Dolores Umbridge angry.

She felt that the reason why the students did not applaud was because Dumbledore, an old beast, had instructed Ada, a little beast, to arrange it. The students were intimidated by the two men, so they did not dare to applaud.

She believed that Dumbledore was inciting the Ministry of Magic and students to antagonize and hate each other in order to achieve his goal of taking over the Ministry of Magic.

Unfortunately for Umbridge, she never thought that this was a semi-spontaneous behavior on the part of the students, stemming from their poor first impression of her. There was neither Dumbledore's instruction nor Ada's coercion.

At best, Ada's personal behavior affected Gryffindor as a group, and Gryffindor's collective behavior affected Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff.

It’s just that everyone is giving Ada face.

With a look of relief, Umbridge looked at Slytherin who was applauding vigorously. She was very satisfied with Slytherin's performance tonight. He was indeed a pure-blood who was not afraid of power or coercion, and he was trustworthy.

But in fact, few Slytherin students knew who Umbridge was or the meaning of her words. They clapped and showed their support simply because Gryffindor "boycotted" her.

It's that simple! So pure!

Dumbledore stood up again and continued what he had interrupted, and the atmosphere in the auditorium returned to normal.

After the principal finished his speech and announced the disbandment, there was a crash of tables, chairs and benches.

The Hogwarts opening dinner with some twists and turns and some discordant elements came to an end, and the students stood up one after another and prepared to leave the auditorium. They were going back to their common rooms, they missed the soft beds in their dormitories.

The next morning, Ada left the dormitory early.

Unexpectedly, Fred and George had woken up earlier than her and were now posting notices on the bulletin board in the common room.

Out of curiosity, Ada walked over and took a look. In the hands of the twins was a recruitment notice.

Previously, many of the twins' products were tested on themselves or on Lee Jordan, but now they have finally extended their claws to other students.

"Is there anything that needs to be modified?" Fred asked, "You are the female student council president, please give me your opinion!"

Ada was not polite. She took the quill from George's hand and added two lines at the end of the notice. She wrote:

(Employment qualifications: Fourteen years of age or above, with a certain ability to act independently)

(Sorry, all jobs are done at the job seeker's own risk and a signed liability waiver is required.)

"That's it. It's definitely not perfect, but it should be enough to fool people." Ada said as she returned the quill to George, "Hurry up and post it up so you can go have breakfast."

The twins posted the revised notice in the most conspicuous place on the bulletin board. They took two steps back and took a closer look. The two brothers were very satisfied.

"If Ada is doing business, she must be a profiteer." Fred said, while speaking, he manually liked Ada.

"You think if she sells it to us one day," George winked at Fred, "will we still be counting the money for her?"

Under Ada's reproachful gaze, the twins nodded with deep understanding.

After one last glance at the notice, the three of them walked out of the common room and went to the auditorium for breakfast. They arrived a little early, and there were not many students in the auditorium yet. Ada and the twins just found an empty seat and sat down.

As the sound in the auditorium became more and more noisy, there were gradually more students. At this time, Professor McGonagall began to distribute the course schedules one by one along the table.

Professor McGonagall placed Ada's lesson schedule in front of her and clicked twice on Defense Against the Dark Arts. That means: try not to cause trouble in this class and just stay calm.

The corners of Ada's mouth instantly turned down, and she looked pitifully at Professor McGonagall. This matter is a bit difficult!

Even if Ada is willing to stay honest, can Umbridge let her go?

Professor McGonagall was also aware of this situation, so she did not force Ada to do it, but asked Ada to try not to conflict with Umbridge head-on.

After all, this is a school, and Umbridge's identity has become a professor.

Professor McGonagall shook her head helplessly and continued to distribute the class schedule, leaving Ada to sigh at her class schedule.

Then she picked up the twins' class schedule. The two brothers' course schedule is empty, which is very enviable. Ada's mood suddenly became as gray and gloomy as the magic ceiling.

She also wanted to be so leisurely, and she also wanted to enjoy her last year of campus life leisurely.

Her fingers were focused on Defense Against the Dark Arts, Ada's first lesson of the school year. Maybe she could figure out a way to never have to take this class again.

After breakfast, Ada left the auditorium with her friends.

Walking on the road to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, Angelina had been discussing the recruitment of new members for the Quidditch house team with the twins and Alia. After the graduation of former captain Oliver Wood, the Gryffindor Quidditch team not only lost a serious and responsible captain, but also lost an excellent goalkeeper. This gives new captain Angelina a headache.

Unknowingly, they reached the door of the classroom, but Angelina's discussion still had no results.

In the classroom, Umbridge was already sitting behind the podium, still wearing the girly pink cardigan from last night.

The classmates sitting below were all silent and lifeless.

When the class bell rang, Umbridge said: "Good morning, classmates!"

There were sparse answers in the classroom, and this way of answering made Umbridge very dissatisfied. She hoped the students' response would be "Good morning, Professor Umbridge."

But the students in this classroom are all in seventh grade. They don't like such a stereotyped way of answering, and they don't want to sit with their hands behind their backs.

As a result, Umbridge had a stalemate with the students. She could only hear "Good morning, Professor Umbridge" in twos and threes, and more people were still lazy and coping casually.

After repeating this several times, someone finally couldn't help it anymore and asked, "We are already in seventh grade. When will we start classes?"

Umbridge said sharply: "It should be 'Professor Umbridge, when will we start classes', that's right. The education at Hogwarts seems to have made you forget a lot of things you need to abide by." "

"Excuse me, when will our classes start, Professor Umbridge?" the student said gloomily.

"Of course, after you say 'Good morning, Professor Umbridge' neatly." Umbridge said matter-of-factly, "Good morning, classmates!"

"Good morning, Professor Umbridge." The students replied in unison.

At this time, at least five minutes have passed since the school bell rang.

"That's right," Umbridge said in a cooing voice, "It's not too difficult, is it? Please put away your wand and take out your quill."

The students were even more depressed now. It was just the first class of the school year, and it was too early for Umbridge to come like this!

The students reluctantly put away their wands and took out quills and ink.

In the Defense Against the Dark Arts class, Foley had already done the emotional reading of the text, and Lockhart had done the melodrama, but the students wanted to see what new tricks Umbridge could come up with.

The students were not allowed to use their wands, but Umbridge took out her surprisingly short wand. After a moment of gesticulating, two lines of words immediately appeared on the blackboard:

Defense Against the Dark Arts

Back to basics

Umbridge criticized the Defense Against the Dark Arts course at Hogwarts, which was constantly changing teachers and was unsystematic and intermittent. Indirectly, Dumbledore was said to be useless.

Then Umbridge changed the subject and began to praise the Ministry of Magic and Fudge. Said she would be teaching in accordance with Ministry of Magic-approved curriculum standards, which were theory-centered.

The classroom became even more lifeless, and everyone felt as if they were taking Professor Binns' History of Magic instead of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

The class was still going on, but Umbridge didn't ask anyone to read the text aloud, but she went even further than that. She asked everyone to read the text silently, and also asked everyone to copy the text.

Defense Against the Dark Arts instantly turned into self-study. There was no sound of the teacher lecturing in the classroom, only the sound of turning books and rustling copying.

Umbridge looked at everyone with satisfaction, and then she looked at Ada among the students, wanting to find trouble.

But Umbridge was disappointed. Ada just sat there reading, without any use for the topic.

After a few more minutes, the boring content successfully made the students sleepy. The situation was comparable to the History of Magic classroom at the same time.

At this time, a Ravenclaw student raised his hand straight up. He couldn't stand this kind of teaching method.

"My dear, do you have any questions about the content of this chapter?" Umbridge asked kindly.

The Ravenclaw student stood up and asked: "Professor Umbridge, are we going to continue this class forever? Silent reading, copying, I mean, don't you teach us something?"

The students in the classroom all looked at the Ravenclaw, and they agreed with what the little eagle said.

Then everyone looked at Ada again, wondering why she was so quiet in class. Even Fred and George didn't quite understand this. The brothers felt that Ada must be holding back something bad.

"Oh, dear, I don't understand why your clever little mind allows you to ask such stupid questions!" Umbridge said in a fuss, "The knowledge is all in that book, that is the education of the Ministry of Magic. Carefully selected by experts. All you need to do is keep the above knowledge in mind.”

Discussions arose in the classroom, and they were dissatisfied with the explanation given by Umbridge.

Class is all about reading and copying books, so what else does the professor do? Just forget about the classroom and let’s go to the library and teach ourselves!

"Quiet!" Umbridge said, "This is a decision made by the Ministry of Magic. Do you think you are wiser than the education experts, or do you want to resist the will of the Ministry of Magic?"

Silence, the students who had been talking a moment ago immediately fell silent. Is it so serious to resist the will of the Ministry of Magic?

The students were powerless to change Umbridge and what she said was the Ministry's decision, but they were unwilling to accept the status quo. They are already in seventh grade and are about to take the ultimate wizard level exam. How can this be possible!

So the students all looked at Ada, who was still reading a book, and placed their hopes on the assassin, the president of the female student union and professor of Defense Against the Dark Arts.

With a "pop" sound, Ada closed the "Magic Defense Theory" in her hand and raised her right hand high.
