Chapter 473 Boggart in the House
With the busy day after day, No. 12 Grimmauld Place has become a lot tidier, at least it won't bring up a cloud of dust wherever it goes. The summer vacation is coming to an end as the house becomes increasingly tidy.
Everyone missed Hogwarts very much. Even listening to Professor Binns was more pleasant than staying in this dirty, rancid old house. At least everyone slept very soundly during the class.
What's more, there is also the house elf Kreacher in this house, who will always hide in the shadows and curse you viciously when you pass by.
If Dobby is an outlier among house elves, then Kreacher of the Black family is also an outlier.
Unlike Dobby, Kreacher was extremely unkind to others, and he seemed to have learned a lot of curse words from his old master.
For example, he would call Mr. Weasley an "old scum", the Weasley children as "old scum's nasty brats", Hermione a "mudblood", and so on.
Kreacher's tone towards Tonks was even more vicious. Presumably because half of Tonks' blood comes from Black and the other half from "dirty" Muggles.
On the last day of vacation, Ada finally received a letter from Hogwarts, which was long overdue in previous years. After a quick glance, she only needed to buy the new "Standard Spells" and a copy of "Magic Defense Theory" this year.
Looking at the familiar title, Ada thought about it carefully. She vaguely remembered that she had read this book, probably when she was working at Flourish and Blotts Bookstore.
If Ada's memory serves me well, the author of this book, Wilbert Slinka, was a pacifist who opposed the use of aggressive spells and advocated a passive approach to conflict.
And his writings are an extension of his will.
Putting down the book list, Ada went to look at Hermione and Ginny respectively.
The two of them also want to buy "Magic Defense Theory". In other words, students in Years 4, 5, and 7 will use the same textbook for Defense Against the Dark Arts classes.
The fifth grade students have to take the ordinary wizard level exam, and the seventh grade students have to take the ultimate wizard level exam, but they have to use the same textbooks as students in other grades. What is this?
Ada really wants to know from which corner did the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher that Dumbledore worked so hard to find come out of!
"Ah!" Hermione suddenly screamed excitedly.
Ada, who was brainstorming, turned around and saw Hermione holding an envelope in one hand and a badge in the other, dancing excitedly.
"I'm a prefect!" Hermione said excitedly, "Ada, Ginny, I'm a prefect!"
Hermione's face was flushed, and her brown hair seemed to float when she spoke. Miss Hermione Granger, who had just been promoted to head, jumped out of bed with a "boom" and ran out quickly.
Ada and Ginny were left looking at each other in the bedroom.
"Ada, were you so excited when you got the prefect badge?" Ginny asked softly, and then she shook her head vigorously, as if to dispel the random thoughts in her mind.
"No, not at all." Ada said firmly.
She wouldn't be as embarrassed as Hermione. At most, she would just smile happily. It’s just a prefect badge, and she’s also the president of the female student union. Are you excited?
While talking, Ada and Ginny also left the bedroom. Ginny went to find Mrs. Weasley, while Ada went to the twins' room.
Fred and George were neither in the room, and the Hogwarts book list was thrown on the ground casually by them, and Ada pounced on it.
Looking at the orders scattered on the floor and the small boxes with W printed everywhere, Ada sighed helplessly. She tied up her hair and helped the two brothers tidy it up.
Moments later, with a loud bang, Fred and George apparated in the bedroom. Both of them had a successful smile on their faces and rolled into a ball on the carpet.
"What's going on? Who are you kidding again," Ada asked as she put the orders away, "Harry? Ron? Or old Kreacher?"
Fred rolled over and sat up on the carpet. He said, "It's little Ronnie. No, it's the Honorable Prefect Ronald Weasley."
"What?" Ada couldn't believe her ears. Although Ron was her stupid younger brother, Ada really couldn't see the reason for choosing Ron as a prefect.
At home, except for his excellent height, Ron is not as dazzling as his brothers in any aspect; at school, Ron is even more obscured by the light emitted by Harry and Hermione around him, making him appear somewhat transparent.
"Yeah, it's hard for you to believe it, right?" George said, "It's hard for us to believe it, too. We thought it was Harry."
Indeed, no matter how you look at it, Harry is more suitable than Ron. But neither Dumbledore nor Professor McGonagall chose Harry.
Maybe he felt that Harry had already shouldered enough and didn't want to add any more burden to him. Maybe he discovered the shining point in Ron and thought he was more suitable for the position of prefect.
Anyway, Ron is a Gryffindor prefect.
"What did you say or do that made you laugh like this?" Ada asked, "You didn't stick the badge on Ron's forehead, did you?"
In fact, what Ron needs more at this time is encouragement and confidence building, but Fred and George will not do such things, so Ada did not waste her words.
In the twins' view, only fools would become prefects, and the student council president is an even bigger fool. Including Ada.
Fred smiled and said: "Unexpectedly, the female student council president provided a good idea. We just asked him if he wanted us to kiss him like a mother!"
"And said we could curtsy to him." George also said with a smile, but the twins didn't even smile.
Fred said dullly: "You know what Mummy said? Mummy said everyone in the family is a prefect. Bill, Charlie, you, and that big, disgusting idiot Percy..."
George followed with a depressed voice: "Then what are Fred and me? Next door neighbors?"
After speaking, Fred and George lowered their heads and looked at the carpet at the same time and remained silent. It seemed that Mrs. Weasley's unintentional words made the twins very sad.
After about five minutes, the twins got up and started packing their luggage, with Ada helping. But throughout the whole process, Fred and George remained unhappy.
After all the items were put into the boxes, Fred and George's faces turned cloudy and the unhappy things were forgotten.
In the evening, Mrs. Weasley unfurled a banner in the kitchen congratulating Ron and Hermione on their election as prefects. She also bought Ron a new broomstick to sweep eleven stars.
Mrs. Weasley was in a very good mood. She had not been so happy during the entire holiday.
Upon entering the kitchen, Fred and George saw the banner. The two brothers rolled their eyes at the same time, but they stopped teasing Ron because they didn't want to ruin Mrs. Weasley's good mood.
The dinner was sumptuous, with wine glasses in everyone's hands and butterbeer for the minors. Everyone sent congratulations to Ron and Hermione.
Tonks shared the reason why she failed to become a prefect. Professor Sprout believed that she lacked certain necessary qualities, such as being unable to follow rules.
Sirius also said a few words. He spent most of his time in solitary confinement with James. Who in his right mind would choose him as a prefect!
Lu Ping did become a prefect, but he used the word "failure" to sum up his career as a prefect. Because he has never controlled Sirius and James.
These people were trying to comfort Harry, who was defeated, and told him not to care about the prefect badge.
Ada sat in a corner of the kitchen. She neither participated in the topic nor listened to Ron introduce the new broom. She was watching over Fred and George.
In the middle of the party, Mrs. Weasley left the kitchen to get rid of a Boggart hiding in the house. As soon as Mrs. Weasley stepped out of the kitchen door, the twins started a top-secret transaction.
Since the deal was with Mundungus Fletcher, and Mrs. Weasley disliked Mundungus, it was absolutely not allowed to be known to her.
At this time, the two brothers were almost completing the transaction, but Mrs. Weasley had not returned yet, and Ada couldn't help but feel worried.
Without any nonsense, Ada directly grabbed the twins, preventing them from continuing to bargain with Mundungus, and pulled them out of the kitchen.
"What's wrong?" George asked confused.
"Yes, in another two or three minutes we can lower the price to ten galleons." Fred said, "The seeds of poisonous tentacles are hard to get."
Not far out of the kitchen, Ada and the twins heard a faint cry, which was Mrs. Weasley's voice.
Fred and George immediately stopped clamoring for the seeds of the poisonous tentacles and ran towards the place where the crying came from.
Pushing open the door to the living room, the two brothers saw Mrs. Weasley huddled against the dark wall, wand in hand, crying so hard her whole body was shaking.
And lying stretched out on the dusty old carpet, under the bright moonlight, were the bodies of Fred and George.
"S-slip-s-funny!" sobbed Mrs. Weasley, pointing her trembling wand at the bodies of Fred and George.
Snapped!
Fred and George's bodies became Percy's, stretched out on their backs, glasses askew, eyes wide and vacant. Mrs. Weasley was crying harder than before.
The twins hurried to Mrs. Weasley's side so that their mother could see the two of them clearly. Ada also stepped forward and pointed her wand at the body on the carpet.
Fred and George hugged Mrs. Weasley tightly and said softly: "Mom is fine, it's just a Boggart and it doesn't mean anything. Dad, Bill, Charlie, Ada, Ron, and Ginny all It's okay...Percy will be fine too."
Mrs. Weasley sobbed, hugging her two most naughty sons tightly with both hands, and cried loudly.
Fred gently wiped away Mrs. Weasley's tears while George patted her back in reassurance.
The two brothers comforted her softly: "Mom, nothing will happen. Everyone will be fine. Everything will be fine."
