Journey to the West: I Am Entertaining in the Great Tang

Chapter 1145 Raising Silver

The man set up the boat and headed eastward, but before sailing far, the sailboat suddenly stalled.

He looked down and saw iron lotus flowers floating in the sea, surrounded by sailboats.

Hui E was shocked, so he knelt in front of the Avalokitesvara Buddha statue and prayed: "If all Japanese people have no chance to see the Buddha, I will follow the direction indicated by the master and build another temple to support my Buddha."

Before the words fell, a "bang" was heard suddenly, and an iron bull drilled out from the bottom of the sea.

The iron ox swam forward while chewing the iron lotus.

In an instant, a channel appeared on the ocean, just enough to pass a sailboat.

The sailboat follows the iron ox and advances along this channel.

Soon, another "bang" sound was heard, and the iron ox sank into the bottom of the sea, and the iron lotus disappeared.

The sailboat returned to a cave in Mount Putuo.

Hui E thought, since Guanyin Bodhisattva does not want to go to Japan, build a temple here and let Guanyin Bodhisattva settle in Mount Putuo!

It didn't take long for the nunnery to be built, and the Buddha statues were offered, and Hui E and others paid homage day and night.

Since then, this statue of Avalokitesvara carved from sandalwood has remained on Mount Putuo. That small nunnery is respected as the Guanyin Temple.

"The fourth story that has to be told:"

After Princess Miaoshan became a Buddha, she asked the Buddha to find a pure place in the world to practice and save all living beings.

The Buddha promised to drop a lotus platform for Miaoshan on Mount Luojia in Putuo, South China Sea.

Miaoshan brought Longnv and Shancai to Luojia Mountain in Putuo, South China Sea, and began to save the suffering of the people all over the world.

I don't know how many years have passed, and Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva has saved countless sentient beings.

One day, she took Longnu and Shancai on the way back to the South China Sea.

Seeing the strong wind and waves on the river, the boats on the river were about to capsize.

Guanyin Bodhisattva immediately used willow branches to resolve the storm and save the people on the boat.

Afterwards, he told Longnu and Shancai, "You guys go back first, I'll go down and have a look."

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva came to the bank of the river and transformed into a village girl. When she saw that the villagers had already disembarked, she came over to the boatman and said, "Uncle, I want to go to the other side of the river. Take me there!"

The boatman said: "Girl, the wind and waves are too strong today, and the boat can't go out. It almost capsized just now in the middle of the river."

Guanyin Bodhisattva said: "Uncle, please take me there! My father is sick, and I have to go to the other side to get medicine for my father. If it is too late, it will be too late!"

The boatman said, well, seeing that you are a filial daughter, I will take another risk!

Guanyin Bodhisattva got on the boat and said to the boatman: "Uncle, the river is so fast and the people on both sides of the river are so dangerous. Why not build a bridge on both sides?"

The boatman said: "Girl, you don't know something! How can it be so easy to build a bridge! To build a bridge, you need the best mason."

Guanyin Bodhisattva asked, "Can't you find a good stonemason here?"

The boatman said, "There is one, and his name is Wei Tuo.

He worked day and night to raise money for the construction of the bridge.

Guanyin Bodhisattva asked: "Can't everyone raise some silver taels?"

The boatman said: "The girl doesn't know something, how can the common people have silver taels!"

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva asked again: "Can't the wealthy gentry in that place give some silver taels?"

The boatman said: "Young lady doesn't look like a local when she says this. These rich people are not willing to do things for the common people!"

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva asked again: "So the local government doesn't care?"

The boatman said: "The government has said that to build this bridge, it will increase the rent and tax for the people every year.

However, as soon as the money enters their pockets, it is put into their private pockets, so they still think of the common people! "

The boatman sent Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva to the other side and said: "This trip is calm, maybe it is the Dragon King's blessing, maybe it is the Bodhisattva's blessing?"

Guanshiyin Bodhisattva smiled and asked, "Do you know Bodhisattva?"

The boatman said: "Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva helps the people, and he goes wherever there is difficulty. It's just that our place is too small, so I'm afraid Bodhisattva won't come!"

Avalokitesvara asked, "Where does the Wei Tuo stonemason live? Can Uncle find him?"

The boatman said: "Girl, do you mean what I said just now about Wei Tuo's offspring?"

Avalokitesvara laughed and said, "Wei Tuo is a rare good man. I don't have any silver, but I want to help him raise silver to build a bridge to help him."

The boatman said happily: "That's great. As long as we can raise the silver taels, we don't have to worry about not being able to find Wei Tuo."

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva came near the county government office and pasted a notice on the wall.

It read: "On the tenth day of March, there was a beautiful woman at the Dujiang Port of Yulin River, who raised silver taels for the construction of the bridge. Whoever can throw the silver taels to the woman, the woman is willing to promise her with her body. If you have a romantic relationship, don't miss the opportunity. "

After the yamen servant saw the notice, he immediately came to the county yamen to report to the magistrate.

Seeing the notice, the county magistrate asked, "Who is so bold that he dares to post the notice without the consent of the government. Hurry up and arrest him."

The yamen servant said: "Master, where can I find it?"

The yamen servant led the order out of the county yamen and came to the street, looking for a place to drink.

Guanshiyin Bodhisattva came over and said, "Isn't your county grandpa looking for me? I'm the one who posted the notice. Go and bring me to your county grandpa."

The yamen servant brought Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva to the county yamen. As soon as the county magistrate heard that the woman who posted the notice had come, he immediately told the master to be promoted immediately.

When the county magistrate saw Guanyin Bodhisattva, he said, "Don't you want to marry a rich man? Then marry me!"

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva said, "My announcement is very clear. If the magistrate does not agree, then the little girl will cancel it."

The magistrate of the county said: "No, sir, I will put up a notice for you again, so that all the gentry in the county will throw money."

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva said, "The little girl is leaving."

The county magistrate said: "Slow down. You can't leave. If you leave, where will I find you on the tenth day of March!"

Avalokitesvara said: "I didn't break the law, why did you keep me?"

The county magistrate said: "Your poster said that you are a beautiful woman. I don't think you are a beautiful woman. You are obviously a young girl! Therefore, you must stay."

On the tenth day of March, when Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva came to the river, the boatman came to row a boat for Avalokitesvara.

Some local gentry came to the river.

Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva said: "Officials, today, the little girl is raising money to build the bridge for the convenience of the people on both sides of the strait. Today, if there is someone who can use the silver, the little girl is willing to promise with her body."

The county magistrate was very happy when he heard this, and said calmly: "Throw it on the boat, it belongs to you, and if it is thrown into the river, it belongs to me."

Avalokitesvara replied, "It's up to you."

In order to raise money for the construction of the bridge, Wei Tuo worked for a nobleman and agreed to pay five taels of silver after the work was done.

However, after the work is done, only two taels are given.

Wei Tuo was very angry and went to the outsider for comment.

In the end, he was kicked out by the servant, and he didn't get a penny.
