Chapter 214: Confess the Truth
"I'm sorry, I don't quite understand what you're saying, Stark. Bucky died seventy years ago. What do you mean you killed him?"
A neighborhood in Brooklyn.
An underground gym with poor lighting and dilapidated walls that exposed bricks.
Tony found Captain America, who was exercising shirtless, and confessed to him about Bucky's death and the cause.
Steve frowned deeply, thinking Stark was making fun of him.
To be honest.
He knew about some of the experiences of the son of his current superior and old friend.
He also knew that the other party would be a little frivolous.
But he didn't expect it to be so frivolous.
"Do you think I'm kidding?" Tony shook his head.
"Well, you should think so, after all, it sounds too ridiculous, coming back to life and being killed, God, it really seems like the most disgusting joke...but I'm serious."
Tony took a few steps, not looking at Steve's expression.
"Bucky is not dead. He was frozen by Hydra and has lived until the modern times."
"You know that Hydra has revived in the Strategic Scientific Corps, or S.H.I.E.L.D."
"And Bucky is one of them." Tony said.
"Impossible, Bucky would never join Hydra even if he was tortured!" Steve stared at Tony.
"Of course, you are right, he did not join, he was brainwashed."
"Look at this." Tony threw a thumb-sized projection "mobile phone" to Captain America.
It was a small square instrument with a crystal texture, the latest smartphone recently launched by Stark Electronics Technology.
It projected a translucent light screen in Steve's hand.
Files related to the Winter Soldier and Hydra popped up on the light screen.
Steve just took a look and his expression became solemn.
He quickly browsed all the information.
The file recorded in detail the process of Bucky being picked up and brought back to the Hydra base.
To being cured, transformed, brainwashed, and frozen.
Finally, he was unsealed when needed to perform the killing mission.
Steve even saw Howard Stark's name on the mission list.
His rapidly sliding fingers stopped instantly.
His eyes stopped at the line "December 26, 1991, Howard Stark and his wife were killed. Among them, adopted son Leon Stark survived."
A few seconds later, Steve took a deep breath: "Is this all true...?"
"The truth will not lie." Tony stopped walking.
"He killed Howard." Steve was silent.
"That's right."
"I'm sorry, Star... Tony."
"No need, he has paid the price and died in my hands." Tony looked at the wall beside him.
Steve opened his mouth, not knowing what to say.
In fact, he didn't even know what kind of mood he was in now.
He just felt that his thoughts were very confused.
Bucky didn't die under the ice cliff, he was still alive, but he was first controlled by Hydra and killed Howard, and then died in Tony's hands.
These information with great changes entered his mind too quickly.
So fast that Steve couldn't react.
Before he could be happy about Bucky's survival, Bucky died again.
But it was hard for him to be sad about Bucky's death again.
Because in his heart, Bucky had been dead for a long time.
Even a few days ago, he went to the place where they grew up together to remember each other.
He believed that Bucky had been left under the ice cliff seventy years ago, and remained in his memory of decades behind the times.
So even if he knew the real truth now.
But for him at this time.
This news was just like a fish without internal organs suddenly jumped when it was put into the oil pan.
Except for a moment of astonishment in his heart, it could not evoke more emotions in him except regret.
After all, he didn't have time to feel surprised and excited about the news that Bucky was not dead, and had strong emotional fluctuations.
As a result, he was immediately told that Bucky was really dead...
Steve stood in silence for a long time.
Finally, he sighed.
"When you killed him, was he still under control? Did he have any...last words?" He asked in a low voice.
"He was no different from other Hydra soldiers at that time." Tony did not answer directly.
Steve lowered his eyelids and nodded: "I see... Go away, Tony, please leave me alone."
Tony waited for a few seconds and spread his hands: "Nothing else?"
"What else do you want?" Steve frowned in confusion.
To be honest, he was not in a good mood now, and just wanted to be alone.
No one would feel good if they knew that their best friend who had grown up with them survived the war, but killed another friend of theirs, and then was killed by the son of this friend in revenge.
He might have blamed Tony a little in his heart.
Blame him for killing Bucky, an innocent person who was manipulated by others.
But this idea was just a manifestation of emotion, not Steve's real thought.
He didn't feel too angry with Tony.
Just wondered how this world could be so fucked up.
And such a fucked up thing happened to him.
This feeling of extreme bad luck would make anyone feel extremely bad.
But Tony obviously didn't notice this.
He was prepared for the worst before he came, thinking that he would be punched directly and then the two sides would start fighting.
So I unconsciously started talking about the train.
"Sorry, I just thought you would be so sad that you shed tears. After all, you are all old popsicles left over from that era. You should be very reluctant to let go. Then I..."
"Wait a minute, what did you just say?" Captain America frowned again, his bad mood beginning to ignite.
"That word just now, popsicle?" He walked up to Tony and glared at him, "You should have some respect for your father's friends, especially your dead friend, Little Stark."
Steve's original intention was to remind Tony that he was his father's friend, so he didn't care about his rudeness just now.
But this sentence also hit Tony's pain point accurately.
Tony sneered and tilted his head: "Little Stark? Are you saying you are my uncle?"
He was originally hostile to Captain America, who was praised highly by his father, but now he didn't hide it at all.
"It's really interesting. The old guy who has been refrigerated for half a century cannot keep up with the times, but he wants to keep up with his elders."
He poked Captain America's chest with his index finger, "I'll interrupt you and ask a question - does my father know that he is your friend?"
"A friend who slept for seventy years and didn't care about a friend when he woke up?"
Steve looked at Tony coldly: "I looked up Howard's situation before I learned about modern history. I also thought he died in a car accident."
"If you wanted to piss me off with just your mouth, you succeeded, Stark."
"Also, if you keep poking me in the chest with that finger, maybe we'll have to talk about something else!"
"Oh! Really?" Tony laughed exaggeratedly.
"We need to talk about other reasons~"
He imitates Captain America's speech.
Then he opened his hands and said, "I knew there was this link, so what are you waiting for? If you want to fight, start now!"
Steve gritted his teeth and opened his lips slightly: "Very good, you asked for it!"
He suddenly hit Tony's chin with a precise punch, and then punched him in the abdomen, bending him over.
Then he looked down at Tony: "You are far inferior to your brother. The company he founded is willing to use all my IP income to aid war refugees, but you are just an arms dealer!"
Most of what Steve knew about Tony was from the Internet and information.
"The largest arms dealer in the United States half a year ago", "playboy", "the prodigal son of Iron Man".
This was his impression of Tony.
His identity as an arms dealer made him extremely biased against Tony.
