Chapter 621 All Actions Are Possible
Ms. Maria did not leave a blue outline in Chen Ke's vision. She either disappeared out of thin air or used some method to block the detection of spiritual vision.
Chen Ke turned a corner and ran to the bridge. As expected, there was nothing on the bridge, only lonely street lights.
29 years later, Maria was as young as Chen Ke, which meant that she was definitely not a normal person. And what she said, "You have our blood flowing in your body." also made Chen Ke very concerned.
He looked up at the pale moon. Do all the keepers have the ability not to age like Ms. Maria? Chen Ke suddenly realized something. If Maria showed up tonight, did she go to find little Jack?
Chen Ke felt a hint of ominous breath, turned around and ran to a nearby cafe. He knocked open the door and fell into the roof compartment of the library.
With blue pupils flashing, Chen Ke climbed up and looked to the left. Jacob was lying on his side in the dark, and little Jack was nowhere to be seen.
"Jacob?" Chen Ke ran to Jacob and pushed him.
"Um...oh...that idiot..." Jacob woke up, cursing. The moonlight outside the skylight shone on his face. Jacob's right cheek was hit by something and was red and swollen.
"Jacob? What happened? Where is Jack?" Chen Ke asked.
"I don't know...I...I was careless." Jacob sat up and touched his cheek.
"Did the white-haired woman come to see you?" Chen Ke asked again.
"No, no one came. It was Jack...He was leaving. He seemed to have noticed something." Jacob said annoyed.
"It seems that it's useless for you to stay here. I'd better take you back." Chen Ke sighed.
"I failed, once again...I still have to let you clean up the mess." Jacob said depressedly, his voice sounded older and older.
"No, this is all my idea. If I let you go back at the beginning, Jack wouldn't have escaped so easily." Chen Ke shook his head.
"Escape? Do you think he is running away?" Jacob asked.
"I think Jack is hiding something from us. Things are not as he said. He has not joined the Keeper. He has never joined the Keeper." Chen Ke said in a deep voice.
Ms. Maria just told Chen Ke that his friend had brought it upon himself.
"Why?" Jacob was confused.
"For power. Jacob. For that kind of power." Chen Ke helped Jacob up.
The two of them passed through the skylight and came to the wooden house provided by the thieves' group. Parker, who was lying on the sofa downstairs, was startled. Chen Ke stretched out his finger and made a "hush" gesture. Then, he took Jacob out and went straight to Evie's house.
The thieves patrolling on the roof found Chen Ke and Jacob. Someone shouted "Jacob is back!" Candles were lit in the surrounding houses. People who were still sleeping got out of bed and hurried out to greet them.
Everyone hugged Jacob and Chen Ke to Evie's house. She was wearing a tea-green coat. Poloz was missing. Big Jacob stood behind her, with half joy and half worry on his face.
"Look who's back, you stupid brother." Evie was a little unhappy, but she still went forward to hug Jacob.
Chen Ke stepped back a little, and did not interrupt to break the moment of family reunion.
"I lost... Jack." Jacob said.
"Let's find him together." Evie shook her head.
"No, you'd better not interfere in this matter." Chen Ke couldn't help but said.
"Why do you say that? Jack is our family. Jacob, you'd better tell me what happened." Evie looked at Chen Ke, and then at Jacob.
"This matter is a bit complicated to talk about, and I am also confused now, but Chen Ke is right. This matter is beyond our ability. Let the experts handle it." Jacob said helplessly.
Hearing what Jacob said, Evie suddenly understood what was going on. She frowned, looked at the other people in the room, and motioned them to leave.
The thieves stayed away from everything related to non-human forces, but it was obvious that this trouble was their own fault. Jacob told Evie about little Jack. He thought he could find a way to solve the problem outside and then bring Jack back.
But Jacob never expected Jack to deceive him.
"How did Jack get involved with the Keeper? I don't understand... It's really a double whammy. Polloz is missing too. I haven't found her all day today." Evie sat down and rubbed her eyebrows.
Chen Ke didn't reveal the fact that Jack's body had changed because Jacob winked at him.
"Poloz... is floating downstream..." Chen Ke shook his head.
"What?" Evie looked at Chen Ke.
"Poloz joined an underground sect. She was eliminated by the Keeper, and they are very interested in Jack." Chen Ke said.
"Oh my God... It's a mess. I thought Jack was the biggest trouble..." Jacob sighed.
"Poloz... She's a good girl... Where is the body?" Evie looked at Chen Ke.
"I said... She floated downstream." Chen Ke spread his hands.
Ivy was a little excited, but it was useless now. She wanted to blame Chen Ke for not helping, but realized that such an idea was too naive, so she could only purse her lips tightly and remain silent.
Chen Ke could see that Evie was a little out of control. No matter what role she played 29 years ago, she was just an old lady now. He didn't care about Evie's little thoughts.
"Everyone has to pay the price for their choices, you and me. Everything in this world is allowed, but you have to bear the consequences." Chen Ke said in a deep voice.
Jacob nodded and patted Evie on the shoulder.
"But we still want an answer. The keeper is interested in Jack, and I am also interested in one of them, so I guess this is an opportunity, maybe I should go talk to them." Chen Ke stood up.
"They don't seem like the kind of people who are willing to share secrets... and do you know where to find them?" Jacob asked.
"I'll let them tell me everything..." Chen Ke said.
The room was quiet for a moment, and Evie stood up.
"If possible, help me bring Jack back." Evie pleaded.
"I will. If my companions come to ask, tell them not to worry. They will understand." Chen Ke said.
Chen Ke turned around and was about to leave, but Jacob called him. Jacob took off the arm guard on his left wrist and slid towards Chen Ke.
"Chen... maybe you can use this." Jacob said.
It was a cowhide hand guard with a copper guard plate on the front. It was equipped with a rope dart that could be shot out. The iron wire was rolled into a circle and wrapped around a small rotating shaft, controlled by a small pull ring. On the inside of the wrist, there was a steel blade retracted in the slide. The four gears were engaged, and the steel blade could be extended through some tricks.
"Is this... the hidden blade you use?" Chen Ke asked.
"Of course not the one from 29 years ago... this is a new one." Jacob smiled.
"Under the hidden blade, all beings are equal." Chen Ke smiled.
He put on the hand guard and pushed the door out. In an instant, he teleported to the street outside the cafe near Big Ben. Big Jacob chased him and opened the door. It was quiet outside the door, and there was no one.
"Is he always like this? He suddenly disappeared?" Big Jacob looked at Jacob.
"I don't know... He seems to be able to play with the door in many ways... He can go wherever he wants..." Jacob let out a sigh and lay back in the chair.
