Chapter 564 Judgment Day
The lights in the subway tunnel pierced through the darkness. They walked through the darkness. The Stormtroopers surrounded them, in front and behind the team, while Kane and Vito were in the middle of the team, as if they were heavily protected.
But this is not difficult to understand. After all, outside the subway, explosions are still happening on the ground above their heads. The gunshots have lasted for two months. The Titans also know about the human tunnels underground and have been trying to invade here. They succeeded several times, but were beaten out.
The human defenders then blew up those sections of the tunnel and blocked the Titans on the other side, so yes, the underground is not safe either.
The Stormtrooper walked in front with a gun. He suddenly stopped and tilted his head to say something vaguely in his helmet. The encrypted communication of the tactical helmet made his voice incomprehensible to anyone except another Stormtrooper. He approached and said something to Vito, who nodded.
"What did he say?" Kane asked.
"They are in front, and the door is also there." Vito said, and walked over with his hands behind his back. Although Kane didn't know why, he followed the stormtroopers after they passed by, so as not to be left in this dark place.
After a while, another light appeared in front of the flashlight. Another team of people stood in front of a huge door. They were stormtroopers, members of the Inquisition, and Amberley.
In front of them, under the spotlight, there was a door that occupied the size of an entire wall. Kane walked to the door and looked up at the magnificent door in front of him in amazement.
It was a steel door, and the surface was densely covered with a large number of reinforcement structures and door locks. There were no holes in the surrounding walls, not even gaps.
"My Lord, it's here, they are inside."
"I know, I can feel the presence of their machine souls."
Vito said as he walked to the door. He stroked the huge door in front of him. Kane also walked over and looked at the door in front of him, "What is this place?"
"You will know."
Before Amberley spoke, Vito suddenly explained, and then looked at the priest on the side, "Can you open the door?"
"This door is a purely mechanical structure, without an electronic system or any access point. Xue Ni can't hack in." Amberley said, looking at the busy priest. She was dealing with a mechanical lock in front of her, with several scrolling digital dials on it.
"We are still trying to figure it out." She said.
"Too slow." Vito said, and suddenly the door in front of him started to rumble, and his entire door body began to roar, and then there was a vibration sound from the surrounding walls, as if the entire underground tunnel was about to collapse.
"What is he doing?" Kane asked. The goddess stood up and stepped back, looking at the door in front of her, "Open the door."
The earth was shaking, and everyone in front of the door began to lose their balance, but the door began to open. The heavy door slowly opened to both sides, and the harsh friction sound sounded between the tracks. The rolling wheels of the door were pushed hard and finally completely sank into both sides.
The space behind the door was exposed. The dark space was pitch black. The storm soldiers took up their guns and walked in. Then Vito went in. He spread out one hand, and a lightning ball emerged in his hand, illuminating the dark space around him.
Kane also followed in curiously. Although he didn't want to enter this unknown place, curiosity still prevailed. He came in with a flashlight and kept observing the surrounding environment.
"What is this place?" He came to Vito behind the fence. He was standing in front of an abyss. Kane stepped forward and shone the flashlight down. The light illuminated a round object. Kane frowned and moved the light down. He saw a line of numbers and a biohazard sign.
Vito snapped his fingers, and the current in his hand instantly shot out to the surroundings. Instantly, the whole space lit up, the lights were reawakened, and the spotlights shot down from all sides. Kane also saw the things below clearly, and his eyes widened like light bulbs.
"Virus missile."
He said, in front of him, in the missile well below, there stood a virus missile, that terrible weapon that could corrupt buildings, dissolve steel, and instantly destroy flesh and blood. It stood there quietly, and there was more than one.
There were dozens of missiles standing below, in different missile wells, they were sleeping, waiting to be awakened, and when they woke up, the end of the world would come.
"They can still be launched, and they look well preserved." Amberley came up and said, Vito looked down at it and nodded silently, "I know, I can sense its machine soul, it is waiting to be awakened."
"Where is this?" Kane asked in surprise.
"The storage place of virus missiles, no one knows when they were here, and this facility has long been forgotten by the people on the planet. I don't know if it's intentional."
"Nonsense, it's me, I don't want to remember that there is such a place under my feet." Kane said trembling all over. He had never seen the detonation of virus missiles, but he had heard people talk about it. Just thinking about it made him shudder.
"But some people say that this place was left over from the first Damocles War. At that time, they were originally intended to use them to destroy the Tau, but they were not used when they withdrew in the end, so they were left behind. What if they were useful later?" Amberley said with a smile, but facing these dormant weapons, her smile was a little stiff.
"For example, now, damn, how did you find this place?" Kane counted the missiles and continued to ask, his voice trembling slightly as the numbers increased.
"The Marshal told us, let's find it." Amberley said, glancing at Vito, who was looking at the missiles below, and then turned to the stormtroopers behind him.
"Contact the command center and tell them to let everyone in the city hide underground or find a closed facility."
The stormtroopers responded vaguely in encrypted language, and then began to talk for a while. Kane saw that he was sincerely grateful to the Emperor for being underground instead of above.
"You, prepared from the beginning?" Kane asked carefully, Vito glanced at him, his eyes were quite cold, "The Tau people put all the reserves into the city."
This city is a death trap, and when the Tau people walked into it, they had already fallen into it.
"My lord, another thing, there is new progress in the investigation." Amberley said, glancing at Kane, and only spoke after Vito signaled to continue.
"The assassin in the Governor's Mansion, we interrogated the butler and traced the true identity of the murderer, a person who participated in the banquet, he said that the Space Marines threatened him to do it."
"Space Marines?"
Amberley said carefully, and Vito raised his eyebrows, she nodded, "Yes, he said that several Space Marines found him and threatened him to kill the Tau ambassador, and he saw the sword wings on their shoulders."
"Dark Angel." Kane said subconsciously, and then shut up.
They looked at Vito carefully, the marshal's face had no expression, only his eyes narrowed slightly, "Does he remember what their helmets look like? Is there a vertical armor structure on the face, or not?"
"He said, like the knights in the story, one of them carries a big sword."
"I see."
"Has anyone seen Celestine?" He asked suddenly, Amberley was stunned for a moment, then shook his head.
"No, no adults, no one has seen her, she disappeared afterwards."
"Yeah."
Vito said simply, leaving Amberley and Kane staring at each other, he turned around and walked up to the console, he stood on the platform and motioned to Xueni to get out of the way, then inserted his mechanical fingers into the slot of the terminal, and suddenly, the whole space moved, as if something was awakened.
Above the missile silo, the canopy slowly opened to the surroundings, and the cold light came in here with the sound of gunfire, artillery and the noise of the battlefield.
In front of Kane and the others, the protective shield rose instantly, and behind the shield, the lights on the warheads of the virus missiles lit up, and with the flames pouring out of the end, the missiles shot straight into the sky.
Air defense alarms with different tones echoed over the city, and the attacking Tau troops stopped and looked up at the flying thing in the sky, it rose to the sky, and then fell down.
"The day of judgment has come."
