Chapter 172 Human-Faced Spider (Modified)
In the entire dark and depressing space, only a little bit of fluorescence from Allen's wand could be seen.
Suddenly, Alan stopped in his tracks, stunned as if under a spell.
He saw a pair of eyes, reflecting the dim light in the darkness, staring at him.
The unknown is the most terrifying.
Allen didn't know what kind of temperament the owner of these eyes was, gentle or irritable? Is it harmful to humans? Is the attack power strong?
He stretched his wand forward, trying to see clearly with the help of Luminescence.
Those eyes flicked to the side suddenly, and then a white thing ran past Allen.
In a panic, this group of white shadows bumped into a piece of granite, staggered and ran a few steps aside, and then hid in the shadows of another pile of ruins in a blink of an eye.
Allen paused for a few seconds before deciding to follow.
At first, Allen couldn't find it, but after groping for a while among the dark and unidentified stone house ruins, Allen found a round well, which was exactly the same as the ones he had found before.
However, the well was half-hidden by a fallen pillar.
Allen suddenly had an idea: Could the thing have gone down the well side into the well?
Allen poked his head out, looked down with the light of the fluorescent spell, and saw a white, fast-moving thing the size of a giant sea turtle.
When it climbed down, those big bright eyes stared straight at Alan, which made Alan shudder!
It is simply a big spider with an elder face!
It was climbing down the well wall when Allen noticed that along the well wall there were many black protruding stones that formed the ladder.
The humanoid spider crawled extremely fast, and quickly disappeared into the darkness beyond the reach of the wand.
"It seems that the ground under my feet must have been dug in a criss-cross pattern. The tunnels in these round wells are the passages leading to the underground space." Allen secretly speculated.
In order to confirm his guess, Allen planned to go down to find out, but something grabbed his skirt.
Allen turned his head instantly, and it was the shrunken Tina and Xixiu.
They were very anxious when they saw Allen's move to go down.
Allen sensed that, relying on the innate intuition of animals, they sensed that there was something unfavorable to them down the well.
However, Allen had already been aroused by the white human-faced spiders. Regardless of Tina and Xixiu's obstruction, he took them back to the pet space and jumped over the well fence.
It must be admitted that Allen went down the well in a hurry, because he was worried that in such a dark, strange and depressing environment, he would lose the courage to continue exploring in the next second.
After climbing down a distance of about two hundred meters, Allen felt very tired.
These raised stones were obviously prepared for the human-faced spiders who were smaller and lighter than Alan. They were small and narrow, and it was difficult for Alan to climb up. This awkward posture made him very uncomfortable to get up. If it was just like this, it would be fine. Who would have thought that a stone step was loose, and Alan's unbearable weight suddenly rolled into the deep well, almost throwing Alan into the dark bottom of the well.
Fortunately, the long-term exercise played a role, and Allen hung there with one hand holding a raised stone.
After a false alarm, Allen endured the soreness in his arms and back, and crawled down the well as fast as he could.
I don't know how long it took to climb, and Allen changed his mind several times to climb up, ignoring what was underground.
But such an idea was dismissed after a few turns in his mind, because it might be harder and more tiring to go up—unfortunately, he has already entered the area where apparation is prohibited in Hogwarts, otherwise it would be much more convenient up.
Finally, Allen's feet hit the ground, and a narrow opening appeared in the wall of the well a foot or so to his right.
Allen let out a long sigh of relief, and got into the hole.
Inside the opening is a narrow horizontal tunnel. Allen held his wand, walked carefully through the tunnel, and came to a huge underground cave.
It was a vaulted cavern that stretched out into darkness beyond the wand's reach.
A gigantic cockatrice statue cast an eerie black shadow in the hazy light.
The human-faced spider hid in the shadows, avoiding the light, looming.
There was a bloody smell in the air. A little farther away from the central clearing, were scattered the bones of small birds and beasts.
The strong smell of blood, the inexplicable stone statue, and the human-faced spider lurking in the shadows all made people feel uncomfortable.
Allen felt that he might have guessed wrong, how could Salazar Slytherin build a chamber of secrets in such a place!
He should have inadvertently broken into the man-faced spider's lair. I just don't know if there is only one such spider, or there are a group of them!
As if thinking that Allen could not pose a threat to it, the human-faced spider actually crawled out of the shadows and quickly crawled towards Allen.
Alan's wand quickly fired a barricade that slammed it back, dodging its hooked feet.
At this moment, Allen saw clearly the face of this spider-man, who was neither human nor ghostly--a pale, chinless face, and huge, lidless, light red and a little gray eyes!
It looks disgusting!
This human-faced spider seemed to want to turn Allen into its food, opened its mouth wide, and spit out a long spider silk, trying to entangle Allen.
"The flames are raging!" The tongue of fire rushed towards the human-faced spider along the spider's thread.
The human-faced spider hastily cut off its silk, and hid back in the shadows.
The burning silk fell to the ground, and the fire gradually weakened, and after burning the silk, it was extinguished.
Seemingly seeing that Alan was not easy to mess with, the human-faced spider planned to run away.
The movement of it starting to retreat was caught by Allen.
Allen took advantage of the victory and pursued, but the human-faced spider failed to escape Allen's attack with all his strength, and was finally petrified in place.
After careful observation in this cave, Allen found traces of the cockatrice venom.
The corpses of those birds and beasts were probably captured by cockatrices to feed the human-faced spiders.
After carefully observing the life marks left by the cockatrice and the man-faced spider in the cave, Allen guessed that in return, the man-faced spider probably served as the guard of the cockatrice.
This proves that Allen's conjecture may be correct, and this place can indeed lead to the secret room!
Allen walked deep down the cave.
After walking for a while in the dark, Allen came to a hall.
It seemed that the magic power from Allen's wand had been detected, and the surrounding lights were bright.
The magic lamps on the wall lit up one by one, and the bright light dispelled the darkness.
In the direction facing Allen, a bronze gate stands in front of Allen, with an ancient rune engraved on it:
Only wizards of pure blood can walk through this door!
