Chapter 1442: Super Agnelli (Part 1)
We all know that there is no state-of-the-art lithography machine in China. If it is usually used for technical research, regarding the chip part, the chip can only be made very large and then used for functional testing. However, this is not only big in size and weight, but also in terms of power consumption and heat dissipation, and the interface with the motherboard.
As a result, the latest communication modules cannot be used on satellites, regardless of the considerations of volume, weight, power, and heat dissipation. Although the satellite design center has technology two generations ahead, the hardware is not strong enough, but it can only be a design on paper, which cannot be realized in reality.
Let foreign companies OEM? For example, big manufacturers such as Motorola, some civilian products are not impossible, but the latest chip design for military products is absolutely impossible. No way, everyone can only test in this difficult situation, unable to determine the final power supply and other requirements.
Now that there is finally a testable chip obtained from nowhere, all the technicians are excited. Under the command of the supervisor, they quickly entered their posts and started ground testing in full swing. After the ground function test is passed, there are other performances to be tested. In short, before launching into the sky, there are still many items that need to be tested, including stability and safety. If you don’t hurry up, you may not be able to catch up.
Excited people raced against time for the test, and it took only two days to get a test report that the functional test was normal. Although the follow-up tests have not yet been completed, the functional tests have shown that these chips have fully realized the design functions, and there is no problem in production and processing.
As soon as the test report was submitted, it attracted the absolute attention of the above. If it was seen from an 8086 chip before that Guo Tailai's processing technology has reached an unimaginable level, then the processing of the complete set of chips this time makes it completely impossible to sit still.
How many transistors does the 8086 have? Forty thousand. That was a 1978 product, twenty-five years ago. According to Moore's Law, every eighteen months the price doubles and the number of transistors doubles. Although the tested communication chip does not have more than 100 million transistors like the Pentium 4 processor, it also integrates tens of millions of transistors, and its complexity is hundreds of times higher than that of the 8086.
However, even with such a high difficulty, Guo Tailai was still able to manually build a chip with no problem in function, and the hearts of a group of people began to heat up. Especially within the military, the high-level assembly staff showed signs of being unstoppable.
If Guo Tailai can create more high-grade chips, what will our radar system become? How much weight will the fire control system on the aircraft save? What happens to the control chip on the rocket missile? How good is the fire control system on the tank cannon?
I can't think about it, when I think about it, everyone can't help drooling, rushing! Flying down three thousand feet!
I used to learn from the Soviet Union. Electronic equipment followed the route of electronic tubes. I considered that even if a nuclear war broke out, there was no need to worry about the failure of the electronic system. However, the electronic tube technology is large and bulky, and generates a lot of heat. Any airborne high-power scanning radar will not be a problem to roast a chicken hundreds of meters away. The function is not as good as that of the Americans, the weight is much higher than that of the Americans, and the energy efficiency is even worse than that of grandma's house.
The Gulf War taught a lesson to all armies in the world, especially China. How can wars be fought like this? All of a sudden, the strategy and tactics of the large corps and the depth that we thought we could gain a foothold in seemed to be outdated all of a sudden.
But how can the gap in electronic chip technology be caught up overnight? It started late, and the country mainly develops the economy without a lot of capital investment. After more than ten years, it is not easy to build a monocrystalline silicon production line first, with some backward chip manufacturing technologies. At any rate, it can be regarded as solving the problem of availability in just a dozen years, but if we really want to talk about the latest technology, the country is still only greedy. When it is really necessary, sometimes even some civilian chips have to be used to solve military problems.
Everyone knows that this is actually not the most fundamental solution, or that sentence, this method can only solve the problem of availability at most, but it fails to solve the problem of new technology. There are many problems like this in China. For example, the Black Hawk helicopter that has been in service on the domestic plateau for a long time is actually the original S70 civilian helicopter.
However, no matter how much you think about it, you can't change the result of Guo Tailai's handcraft. Handcrafting means low efficiency, and it means that if you are not careful, you will make mistakes. You must know that there are tens of millions of transistors in a chip, as long as one is wrong, the chip will be completely scrapped. It is simply impossible to expect Guo Tailai to be able to produce large-scale high-performance chips needed by the military industry and all walks of life in society.
Even if Guo Tailai has such high efficiency and good product rate, who can afford Guo Tailai's labor? So, this is obviously unrealistic. The only solution is that Guo Tailai's superb processing skills can produce high-precision lithography machines, which is the ultimate solution to all problems.
"We should continue to increase investment in lithography machines, talents, funds, and policy support." Someone immediately made a suggestion at the meeting.
One 8086 chip can't prove anything, but the dozens of chips used in a whole set of communication modules can explain the problem very well. I didn't think of it before, if I still remain indifferent now, wouldn't it be a waste of precious opportunities to overtake on corners?
You must know that the complex chips hand-processed by Guo Tailai have already surpassed the most advanced level in the same period abroad. The requirements do not need to be too high, as long as the development of a lithography machine of this level can be completed within two or three years, the country can almost be said to be catching up.
Of course, the latest technology will definitely be used in military technology first. This point is the same for any country, and China is no exception. So it's no surprise that these things are discussed by final assembly.
Who wants to miss this kind of opportunity after seeing greater hope? Who wants to miss out? This is not only the take-off of the chip industry, but also the take-off of a series of related industries, and the possibility of Huaxia Chip, which Chinese people dream of.
"Do it with confidence." The leader of the final assembly also sent a message: "Xiao Guo will not lose the chain."
"Yes!" A group of military officers agreed loudly, ready to implement the plan.
"Those things about the LODTM lathe last time must not happen again!" The leader instructed again.
After the meeting ended, many people fell into a frenzy with the test report from the Satellite Design Center.
