Chapter 796: At the Dinner
…
Speaking of Harry's side, the atmosphere was not so harmonious.
Molly was naturally dissatisfied with the behavior of Fan Lin and Sirius, and involved the work of the Order of the Phoenix at the dinner table...
Mrs. Weasley's expression was a bit unpleasant, but this was in Sirius's home after all, so naturally, Mrs. Weasley couldn't embarrass Sirius too much.
"I have something to tell you, Sirius. We have a collection of things on the desk in the studio that are still rattling and shaking. Of course, they may just be toys, but I think throwing them away You'd better take a look at them beforehand."
"It's up to you." Sirius didn't care.
"The curtains over there are infested with moths, too," Mrs. Weasley went on. "I want to sort that out tomorrow."
"I'll go and have a look tomorrow," Sirius said.
Fan Lin heard some sarcasm in Sirius's voice, but Fan Lin was not sure that others thought so.
Opposite Harry, Tonks was performing a show for Ginny, who kept changing the shape of her nose. Every time she bent her eyes, it was accompanied by the same pained expression. She imitated Harry's behavior in the old bedroom. Her nose suddenly rose up like a beak. This was of course similar to Professor Snape's. It shrank to the size of a mushroom stalk, and a large patch of hair sprouted from each nostril.
Apparently this was standard mealtime entertainment, as Ginny was quick to ask her to conjure up whatever nose they liked.
"Make a nose like a pig's snout, Tonks."
Tonks was forced to do it, and Harry looked at it, thoughts flashing through his mind. It was like a female Dudley smiling at him across the table.
Mr. Weasley, Bill and Lupin were having a lively discussion about goblins.
"They still don't offer anything when they leave," Bill said. "I just haven't found out yet whether they believe they'll come back. In the meantime, they may not like to completely draw the line. It's staying out of it."
"I'm sure they never come back to - you know -" said Mr. Weasley, shaking his head. "They suffer the loss of their companions: remember the last time a family of goblins were murdered somewhere near Nottingham?"
“I think it depends on what they have to offer,” Lupine said.
"I don't want to talk about gold. They would be interested if they could be offered the freedoms we have been denied for centuries. You still don't believe Ragnok has any luck? Bill."
"He felt like a proper anti-wizard at the moment," Bill said. "He didn't stop being angry at these business salesmen. He was convinced that the Ministry of Magic had covered up the truth, and the goblins never got their gold. You knew-"
"Those goblins are not reliable." Fan Lin said, "You also know how Gringotts is."
"Are you talking about the goblin named Purgna?" Lupine said, "However, this does not represent all goblins. I think they are still..."
Suddenly a burst of maniacal laughter came from the center of the table, drowning out the rest of Professor Lupin's words.
Fred, George, and Mundungus were rolling around laughing in their seats.
"….Then," Mundungus stopped laughing, and even had tears on his face, "then, if you believe it, he spoke to me, and he said, 'Well, Lao Dun, Didi Chia, where did all the toads come from? Get rid of those sons of the mud pump and mark my sons!' And I said, 'Well, I'll mark all your toads.' What's next? Then you're going to want to know more about it? And if you believe me, young man, this stupid monster bought them all, these are my own toads, and of course I have to pay for them first. "
"I don't think we need to hear any more from you, thank you, Mundungus," Mrs. Weasley said sharply, as Fred threw himself against the table, laughing heartily.
"I beg your pardon, Molly," said Mundungus at once, wiping his eyes and winking at Harry. "But, you know, Warty Harris actually paid for those nicks in the first place, so I really didn't do anything wrong."
"I don't know where you learned your sense of right and wrong, Mundungus, but you seem to have missed some crucial lessons," Mrs. Weasley said dryly.
Fred just started doing it awkwardly, and then returned to George's side, and then the two of them buried their entire faces with honey in the shape of a wine bottle; George was burping.
For some reason, Mrs. Weasley gave Sirius a very disgusting look, then stood up and took a large piece of rhubarb bread crumbs to make pudding.
Harry looked his godfather up and down.
"Molly is unhappy with Mundungus," whispered Sirius.
"Why did Mundungus come to the Phoenix Order?" Harry said very calmly.
"He's useful," Sirius murmured. "He knew all the tricks, yes, he did, and sometimes considered himself one of the tricksters. But he was also very loyal to Dumbledore, who once helped him escape from a difficult situation. "There's someone who likes to be around Old Don, and he's heard a lot of things we don't know about. But Molly thinks inviting him to dinner is going too far. She can't forgive him for being absent from his duties while he was in charge of you."
"So, you should know how much Mrs. Weasley cares about you, Harry." Fan Lin said, and then took over the dinner prepared by Mrs. Weasley.
"Of course I know," Harry said, looking at Mundungus and then at Mrs. Weasley.
Harry had mixed feelings about Mundungus.
Speaking of which, he was somewhat grateful, which allowed him to escape from the Dursleys' house, but what happened before and after was not a pleasant one...
Three pieces of rhubarb crumb pudding and later custard, and the waistband of Harry's jeans felt uncomfortably tight. The conversation paused momentarily as he put down the spoon.
Mr. Weasley was reclining in his chair, looking content and relaxed; Tonks was yawning profusely, her nose now back to normal; and Ginny was sitting cross-legged on the floor, already holding Crewe Keshan tricked it out from under the cupboard and is now luring it into chasing a honey.
"I think it's almost bedtime now," Mrs. Weasley yawned.
"It's still early, Molly," said Sirius, pushing the empty plate away and turning to look at Harry.
"You know, I'm surprised by you. I thought the first thing you did when you got here was start asking questions about Voldemort." The mood in the room picked up quickly with Harry's conversation and the mention of Dementors. changed.
If a few seconds ago it had been sleepily relaxed, now it was alert, even nervous. (To be continued)
