Chapter 699 The Darkness Behind the Zen Story!
Xiao used the humble room as a base, recruited followers with his own virtues, and taught them the meaning and power.
Many believers who robbed Qianfo Temple in public secretly tampered with Buddhist doctrines, replacing the original Buddhist thoughts with Taoist thoughts bit by bit.
As time went on, the replaced faith doctrines gradually took effect and took root in the hearts of believers.
In this way, even if the believers still knelt and prayed to the Buddha with an extremely pious heart and knocked their heads to pieces, the Buddha also received a little bit of faith from these believers.
The reason for this is that people's belief in gods and Buddhas only symbolizes the object of their belief, but the operating system of belief makes gods and Buddhas not directly absorb faith.
After all, what gods and Buddhas need is not faith, but the spiritual essence in faith, and faith is worthless to them.
Therefore, the faith of mortals will first pass through the filters of the two heavenly palaces, that is, the Taoist Conferred God List and the Buddhist Merit Lotus Pond.
In these two mysterious places, the mortal thoughts mixed in the incense of faith will be completely cleansed and transformed into pure spiritual essence.
Then, these spiritual essences will be distributed according to the faith gained by each god's position and the position he sits in, so as to ensure that the gods will not be eroded by the powerful wishes in the incense, so as not to damage the soul.
The main factor that determines whether the faith will eventually flow to the Buddhist Merit Lotus Pond or the List of Gods is the sect's doctrine.
The Buddhist faith has always advocated absolute moral standards, and in order to make the world follow moral norms, they will take all possible measures.
The most classic example is that the Buddhists control reincarnation and deliberately create Zen.
In Buddhism, there is a classic Zen story that is widely circulated and very meaningful.
It is said that on that day, when the Buddha went out to preach and beg for alms along the way, he saw a woman holding a baby and breastfeeding on the road.
At the same time, there was an old dog turning over her family's garbage dump, trying to steal the remaining dishes in it.
However, the woman did not show any compassion to the poor old dog, but spoke harshly to it and drove it away rudely.
The old dog could only look at the woman with sad tears in his eyes, but even so, he could not get even a trace of warmth from the woman. The woman picked up a stick and wanted to beat the old dog and drive it away.
In sharp contrast, she doted on the child in her arms and gave all her love to him.
At this moment, the Buddha stepped forward, stopped the woman's behavior, and revealed a shocking truth to her.
It turned out that the old dog was the reincarnation of the woman's deceased father;
and the child in her arms was the reincarnation of the soul of the enemy who killed her parents in her previous life.
The Buddha wanted the woman to realize that all beings are equal, there is no high or low, as long as it is life, it should be cherished, sweep the floor without hurting the lives of ants, and cherish the moth gauze covering the lamp.
Too much killing and fighting will eventually hurt the people closest to you. People should be compassionate.
Since then, the woman was enlightened in an instant.
She resolutely gave up everything in the world and became a nun. From then on, she devoted herself to worshiping Buddha and used her good deeds to influence all living beings in the world.
However, this is only from the perspective of ordinary people. In reality, if Buddhism did not secretly manipulate reincarnation,
then how could the person who committed the murder of his father be qualified to be reborn as a human?
Why did the woman's father, who was always kind, become a pig and dog and was beaten and scolded by the woman?
All this seems reasonable, but if you trace the truth behind it, it is horrifying.
Let a woman's parents reincarnate as pigs and dogs, let her enemies reincarnate as their own children, just to persuade the world to be good, just to promote the equality of all beings,
The starting point is good, the result is also good, but the process is full of darkness, so is this compassion or not compassion?
The Taoist sect focuses on doing whatever one wants. As long as one believes that what one does is correct, one can freely shuttle between animality and virtue anytime and anywhere.
Therefore, there are good and bad people in the Taoist sect. There are defenders who kill demons and demons, there are also low-class people who cause trouble to all beings, earn more and kill more, are greedy for money and lustful, and there are also free-spirited people who hide in the city and do not care about good or evil, just rely on the spirit in their hearts.
From these, it can be clearly seen that there are actually very different styles of behavior between Buddhism and Taoism.
And the existence of this difference precisely reflects the profound significance of dogma.
It enables all beings to be closer to the religious faction to which they belong, so that they can more conveniently absorb the power of spiritual essence.
So, if there is a believer who believes in the teachings of Buddhism on the one hand, but practices the dogmas of Taoism on the other hand, what kind of interesting things will happen?
Xiao is full of expectations for this, and secretly speculates in his heart where these complicated beliefs will eventually flow.
How will Taoism and Buddhism deal with such a situation?
Will they choose to confront each other or sit down calmly to discuss the allocation of these chaotic belief resources?
However, no matter which of the above situations the final solution belongs to, Xiao firmly believes that he can successfully alienate the relationship between Tathagata Buddha and the Jade Emperor through this incident.
This caused an irreparable crack in their originally close cooperation, and they could no longer work together to suppress him.
However, just as Xiao was hiding in the dark and laughing secretly, happily preparing to watch a good show,
the monks of Qianfo Temple had quickly assembled a large number of well-trained monk soldiers and rushed towards the humble room with great momentum.
The war of faith has been cruel and ruthless since ancient times, especially the existence of heresy. Heresy refers to those who are also Buddhists but have completely different understandings of Buddhism.
They are our own people, but they are not our own people. This kind of thing is more terrible than pagans, because it is an existence that can cause the entire sect to split.
In the eyes of local people, the monks in the humble room are more reasonable and humane, and they know what the people want. The monks of Qianfo Temple are arrogant and rude.
However, as orthodox Buddhist disciples, the monks of Qianfo Temple must be aware of the interests involved in what the monk in the humble room did. The monk in the humble room was a complete heretic, which was something they absolutely could not tolerate.
