Chapter 10 The Farm
At this time, Levi, who was missed by many people, took advantage of the night and drove a shabby pickup truck without doors and windshields towards his hometown.
The cannibal Hannibal and his accomplices have lived in that mountain for more than ten years. Countless pedestrians and tourists have died in their hands, so there is a valley dedicated to parking the cars of hidden victims.
Levi searched among the hundreds of cars and finally found a shabby pickup truck that could run normally, and Hannibal's huge body just sat in the flat cape behind the pickup truck.
"Swish!" Levi brushed the dust off the steering wheel, revealing the Chevrolet logo. Although the car was broken, it did not affect the speed at all!
Except for refueling once on the way, Levi drove for more than three hours overnight. Finally, when it was dawn, he drove to a poor community in Monroe City and stopped in front of a two-story building that looked a bit shabby.
This small building, which has been somewhat peeling, is Levi's former home.
It's funny to say that after Levi's mother passed away, the house where they lived for more than ten years was taken back by the bank and sold out. Levi didn't even have a place to stay in this world!
A few minutes later, Levi sighed in his heart, started the car, and came to a farm southwest of Monroe City.
And this farm, which was overgrown with weeds and looked abandoned for a long time, was the only fixed asset Levi bought in the first few years of his military service!
This farm covers an area of only more than ten hectares, which is small among the farms in the United States. Of course, small land also means cheap prices and relatively low annual taxes.
In the United States, farms and ranches need to pay taxes every year. Even if Levi's farm has not produced any output in all these years, the taxes that should be paid cannot be reduced.
And Levi took a fancy to this farm. There is not only a small orchard in the area of the farm, but also a small lake of two or three hectares in front of the woods!
There is a small wooden villa that looks very old next to the orchard. There is also a warehouse not far away, which is usually used to park vehicles or store fertilizers and other sundries.
"Bang!" After Levi parked the car, he patted the car compartment, and the sleeping ogre was awakened immediately.
Levi took out a key from his backpack, but found that the door lock of the villa had long been rusted. He could only pull out the lock cylinder with a little force. Suddenly, a gust of dust mixed with musty smell came to his face, which made Levi frown.
"Hannibal, go in and clean up!" Levi found two mops in the warehouse and threw them directly to the ogre standing stupidly at the door.
Hannibal caught the mop and bucket thrown by the owner. The mop used by ordinary people was like a feather duster in the hands of the ogre who was two meters and five meters tall, and it looked very mini and fragile.
Looking at the ogre who walked into the house and was clumsily cleaning, Levi drove around his farm to familiarize himself with the terrain.
When Levi drove to the southern border of the farm, he saw a burly, bearded middle-aged man holding a pipe and driving a harvester to harvest corn.
Compared to the barren weeds on his side, the neighbor's farm was well-managed, with various crops, cattle and sheep, showing what a farm should look like.
"Huh?" When the middle-aged man turned the car around, he immediately found Levi standing not far away and looking at him. He was stunned at first, and when he saw Levi's face clearly, his face suddenly showed joy.
"Hahaha! Li!" The middle-aged man John jumped off the harvester, opened his arms and hugged Levi, and patted Levi's back heavily.
John was about 40 years old, less than 1.8 meters tall, but very strong, with a long scar on his left cheek, making him look very fierce.
John was also a non-commissioned officer who retired from the Navy Special Warfare Corps due to injury. He was Levi's superior at the time. Since they were both from Monroe, he took good care of him.
Levi also asked John to find and buy this farm, and the other party even paid a lot of money for Levi at that time.
"I've heard about James's affairs. I don't blame you!" On the edge of the field, John casually pulled a handful of corn cobs, crushed them into his pipe, lit them, and then took a deep puff.
Levi and James were both soldiers trained by John. Levi had a fighting talent beyond ordinary people, and James was a natural commander. However, he never expected that James would die under the gun of a small minion whose name he didn't even know. It can only be said that God is playing tricks on people!
"It's good to come back! The army has long been a mess!" John felt the slightly bitter smoke in his mouth, and exhaled heavily after a moment, "America will sooner or later be destroyed by those damn politicians! The honor of the soldiers has long been ruined by them!"
John was very resentful of the American military leaders, thinking that they were weak and despicable, so after retiring, he did not choose a military civilian position, but returned to his hometown and inherited the farm with his wife and sister-in-law.
"Let's not talk about those disappointing things! Have you planned what to plant on the farm?" John turned and looked at Levi's farm, "I have two good farmers here, I'll lend them to you for two days!"
"No need!" Levi waved his hand upon hearing this, "I bought the farm just to have a piece of land of my own, forget about farming!"
Levi already knew roughly how to improve his life level, so of course he would go out and wander around, hunting those freaks like the ogre in the future, how could he spend his time on farming!
"Haha! I knew you were this guy!" John seemed to have expected it, opened his shirt, revealing a silver-white revolver, and smiled, "Come to my house for dinner tonight, and I'll welcome you to the tavern in town tomorrow night, and introduce you to some partners who can make money together!"
"Okay!" Levi nodded without asking more questions, he was indeed short of money at the moment, and John must have a way to make money with him.
"Ah Ba Ah Ba!" While Levi and John were chatting, the ogre who had cleaned up found Levi along the tire marks on the ground.
"Fuck! What the hell is this!" John was shocked when he looked back and saw Hannibal clearly, and he took out the pistol from his waist and pointed it at the ogre.
"Roar!" After the ogre sensed John's hostility, he let out a low growl like a wild dog, then stopped and bent his body slightly, ready to pounce on John at any time.
"John, this is Hannibal." Levi asked the ogre to retreat, "I picked him up on the road, a poor man with a genetic mutation! Although he looks ugly, he is very obedient!"
"Gene mutation?" John put away his pistol after hearing this, and a trace of anger suddenly appeared on his face, "It must be because of the nuclear power plant or the factory wastewater of those capitalists, damn it!"
John's cynicism took the initiative to find a reason for the ogre to appear.
