Chapter 50: Chaos
Gu Fei had no choice but to get up and dress.
She walked to the yard, got some water to wash, and heard the neighbors in a commotion.
The uncle was shouting, "Kill the chicken quickly, it's not easy to carry on the road."
"You can't kill it, Baoer eats eggs every day. If you kill the chicken, Baoer won't have eggs to eat." Qian said as she tied up the chicken's feet and threw it on the ox cart.
Ah Huang from my uncle's family was barking wildly, and my uncle scolded, "Stop barking, or I'll kill you."
The dog whimpered a few times in grievance.
My own family was not much better. Chen was directing Gu Qing and Gu Erlang to move the water tank at the door to the mule cart.
Gu Fei couldn't help but shout, "Mom, don't bring this, it's so heavy, the mule will fall down."
"This--" Chen looked at the mule, then at the water tank, and suddenly leaned close to Gu Fei and whispered, "Don't you have a place to put things? Otherwise, put this in too?"
Gu Fei looked at the tank and sighed, "Okay."
With a flash of consciousness, the water tank instantly entered the space.
Gu Qing and Gu Erlang stared at their empty hands in a daze, and then looked at their sister. If they hadn't been mentally prepared, they would have shouted, "Ghost!"
But Chen laughed, "No, no, this tank should be full before it's put in. Take it out and I'll put some more things in."
Gu Fei looked at her mother helplessly and had to move the water tank out again.
Chen ran in happily to get things. Gu Fei saw that Chen stuffed several rags in. She twitched her lips and turned away, "Mom, call me when you are done."
When Gu Fei came out again, the yard was full of things, including water tanks, bedding and luggage, oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, kang cabinet, and the broken tables and benches at home.
Chen watched Gu Fei put all the things in, and said happily, "That's good. I'll leave a mule cart for you and Xiaocao to sit in. You are not healed yet and you can't walk."
After packing up, Gu Qing drove the mule cart to the village entrance. When his uncle next door saw it, he quickly drove out the new mule cart that he had borrowed money from Gu Fei to buy.
Two mule carts passed by the door of the uncle's house. Qian was stunned when she saw them. "Leaving now? I haven't packed yet!"
She raised her voice and shouted, "Master, hurry up, we are leaving, you go and drive the cart!"
"Bao'er, my dear Bao'er, get up quickly, don't sleep any more."
Soon, the families who were leaving drove their carts to the entrance of the village.
Shanzi's mother jumped off the mule cart, walked to Gu's house, looked around, and said to Chen: "Where is your Xiaofei?"
Chen pouted, "She is in the cart. She is not healed yet and cannot leave."
Shanzi's mother lifted the curtain and saw that the mule cart was so spacious, with several thick mattresses spread out. Gu Fei was lying in the cart leisurely.
Shanzi's mother lowered the curtain, secretly marveling at the Gu family's preference for Gu Fei, and then thought, "Where are your things?"
"You didn't bring anything? You must have food!"
Chen's eyes flashed, "I brought it. My Sanlang is in the city. There are two cars in the city, and the things are on them."
Shanzi's mother exclaimed, "There are two more cars! Your family is really rich."
As she was talking, Gu Zhong drove the mule cart over and called Gu Zhang, "Mom won't leave and is making a fuss at home. What should I do?"
Gu Zhang glanced at Gu Qing and Erlang, "Go, carry your grandma over."
Gu Qing and Erlang ran away.
