Chapter 267 Some Investigations
The leader of the gang investigation team was George Harris, a sturdy Welsh man with a high nose bridge, a beard, and a body of tendons. Xing Ze judged that he was about 37 or 38 years old, in the prime of life.
Judging from the content on the movable whiteboard, Harris should be introducing the Old Record Gang to the police superintendent and the three people from the Criminal Investigation Department.
"Is it you?" Harris asked Xing Ze, "You killed the hammer and the big shoe with your bare hands."
Xing Ze frowned and asked back, "Who?"
"The two people you killed in the elevator, detective." The answer was a police officer wearing a headscarf with a British flag pattern.
Xing Ze remembered that his name was Brett, and he was Harris's deputy, "Yes."
Brett whistled, with a playful expression on his face, "How did you do it, detective? You look..."
"Frail?" Xing Ze finished what he wanted to say.
"Uh, I originally wanted to say thin." Brett turned his head away in embarrassment.
Superintendent Rayburn interrupted, "Okay, let's get back to the point. Go on, Harris."
Xing Ze walked to Rayburn's side, and while listening to Harris's introduction, he whispered, "Where did the drunk with me go?"
"Oh, he said he needed to find a bar to sober himself up." Rayburn replied, "I gave him a good bar address."
"Of course." Xing Ze looked like he was asking why.
"I hope you don't mind me making up an identity for you."
"It's a good disguise." Xing Ze said, "But if the people here investigate me..."
Rayburn glanced at the people in the room and replied, "Don't worry. Burke will arrange everything. You are not the first special investigator to appear here."
Xing Ze nodded and listened to Harris' introduction attentively.
Old Record Gang. A gang organization located in the cultural district of Liverpool. On the surface, they are engaged in the business of red wine, but secretly they have been smuggling arms and collecting protection fees. In addition, there is uncertain intelligence that they are trafficking in people.
After the last investigation, Xing Ze has always been very sensitive to human trafficking. He secretly noted the location of the Old Record Gang Winery, and he would go and see it if he had the chance.
After Harris finished speaking, Brett continued: "We can start with Hammer and Bigfoot. They are also mid-level personnel, and we should be able to dig out a lot of things."
"Then continue to dig deeper." Franklin, the head of the Criminal Investigation Department, said, "We have surveillance footage of these two guys attacking Agent Li, which is enough to lock them up for a while."
Xing Ze was not very interested in the police's investigation plan. After listening to it for a while, he found an excuse to go out, and Rayburn followed him out.
"Tell me, Superintendent, what you found in Frank's office."
"Let's go to the office to talk." The superintendent took the lead and walked forward.
Arriving at the office, Rayburn closed the door and said: "I have never seen such a strange case, although I have worked with wizards before. But... I found claw marks in that room, and I believe you must have seen it."
Xing Ze nodded.
"Is it left by those magical creatures? If so, it must be very big."
"Not sure yet. Are there any usable fingerprints?"
"The Identification Department is still analyzing, but don't hold your hopes too high. We found Frank's gun, which slipped under the sofa."
This made Xing Ze more certain that the attacker attacked from behind, "Have you checked the windows? I remember there is a safe staircase there."
"I have checked." Rayben replied solemnly, "All windows are closed, the murderer can only enter from the front door, or he was hiding inside before."
Xing Ze is more convinced of the latter. But the entire office is not big, and there is no suitable hiding place. Obviously, the murderer used some means.
"What about Frank's home? Have you been there?"
"I have been there, but there are no useful clues. His home has also been broken into. I have sent police officers to inquire around to see if anyone noticed the intruder."
Speaking of this, Rayben's face showed embarrassment.
"Just say whatever you want to say, Superintendent."
"I know I have no right to know this, but I still want to ask what Frank is helping you investigate? Knowing some key clues will be very helpful to our investigation."
"A book." Xing Ze did not intend to hide this. As he said before, he needed to keep some cards in hand to negotiate with the police, but now it was time to play one.
"Book?"
"Yes, an ancient and precious book. You can think of it as Shakespeare's manuscript."
"Oh my God." Rayburn said with emotion, "This is a priceless thing. No wonder Frank is so attentive."
"I have a question too, Superintendent."
"Please go ahead."
"Are you familiar with Frank? Well, let me put it another way. Does he come to the police station often?"
As a former detective, Xing Ze clearly knows that those who do this job must have a good relationship with the police, so that you can get more useful clues and information. In many cases, the police's information will be the key to solving the case.
Rayburn smiled and said, "I've only met him a few times. Frank usually handles serious cases, and he's familiar with the criminal investigation department. He rarely takes on jobs like finding books."
"What's he like?"
"Tell me the truth?"
"Of course, Superintendent. We're investigating a case."
"Very capable, somewhat narcissistic, and likes to brag, but he does have the ability to brag. This kid once found out about Red Hand Chris. You probably haven't heard of that case."
"I've heard of a serial killer who likes to leave fingerprints on crime scenes with his victims' blood and hands," Xing Ze said.
His answer surprised Ribbon, "I thought wizards wouldn't be too interested in our affairs."
"Usually, that's true." Xing Ze replied, "But that case is too famous, and we also have newspapers there that will report on your story."
"Okay, off topic. All in all, Frank's investigative skills are pretty good. If you want to know more about him, you can go to the Criminal Investigation Division and ask. Remember Yellante?"
A man with a stern expression appeared in Xing Ze's mind, "I remember."
"As far as I know, he has a good relationship with Frank. They worked together on a major case. You can talk to him."
"I will. SUE."
"What?"
"Have you ever heard of this?"
Ribbon shook his head, "Never. Is it an abbreviation for something?"
"I'm not sure either."
"Are you going to join us? I mean, about the Old Record Gang."
Xing Ze shook his head, "I have other things to investigate."
"Okay, I will contact you if there is any news. Oh, by the way, they took the body away, and Burke asked me to tell you."
