"Your Highness, King George and Queen Olga are waiting for you in the restaurant, breakfast is ready", a voice suddenly came from the side, interrupting Constantine who was in deep thought.
Looking up, it turned out to be his personal maid, who came to tell him to go to dinner.
Nina is two years older than himself. He entered the Greek royal court since he was a child. Since then, he has been sent to Constantine to serve him and take care of his food, clothing and daily life. Although he is only two years older than Constantine, he is smart and sensible, and is deeply loved by Queen Olga.
According to the queen's intention, sending Nina to Constantine is not just as simple as giving Constantine a servant.
Although the royal family is noble and has a glamorous appearance, there are gains and losses. Because of the noble status, they are the focus of everyone's attention wherever they go. No matter when and where, they must not lose the royal dignity and decency. There are many rules in the palace, and after a long time, it is easy for people to feel bored.
Therefore, Queen Olga sent Nina to Constantine in the hope that Constantine could have a playmate of the same age to dilute the boredom of court life.
Nina was seen with her hands behind her back, leaning forward, facing Constantine, and sticking out her tongue.
She was wearing a black maid uniform, a white apron in front of her, and a white sanitary cap on her head. At the age of 17, it was the most beautiful time for a girl to look beautiful. She was slim, petite, fair-skinned, with clear and bright brown eyes, a small and firm nose, and a small chest.
An ordinary maid outfit made her look bright.
"Nina, be careful that Queen Olga sees you being naughty and transfers you away." Constantine flirted with Nina while standing up from the chair and walked towards the restaurant with Nina.
"You should worry about yourself. Even in the royal family, I have rarely heard of such huge expenses as yours." She stared at Constantine with a worried look.
"The thing you planned is so expensive, can it really succeed?".
Nina is Constantine's personal servant and the person Constantine trusts the most. The two grew up together and are familiar with each other. No matter what they do, Constantine will not hide it from her, so she knows almost everything about Constantine.
"Man proposes, but as for whether it will succeed or not, only God knows. Do your best and leave it to fate." Constantine said lightly, but there was a firm look in his eyes.
Although the Greek royal family was born in the Danish royal family (Denmark is a country with a Protestant majority, and the royal family is Protestant), Constantine was named the Duke of Sparta at birth, the heir to the Greek throne, and was baptized by the Orthodox Church and is an Orthodox Christian.
This is because Greece is a country where the Orthodox Church is the state religion. In order to win the favor of the people, the future king of Greece should unite with the people and have the same faith.
"The queen ordered me to summon you. Judging from her expression, I am afraid she is going to ask about that matter. You should be prepared." Nina was still a little worried that Constantine would make Queen Olga angry.
"Don't worry, Nina, I am prepared." Constantine patted Nina's back with his right hand to comfort her.
As they talked, the two had already approached the restaurant. Nina took two slow steps to let herself lag behind Constantine. The relaxed expression on her face also turned into a serious and solemn expression.
Constantine, who was standing aside, saw this scene and wanted to laugh, but was patted on the arm by Nina as a punishment.
The two walked to a single-story building with European style. In front of the red wooden door, there were three stone steps that rose gradually.
Constantine pushed open the door and walked in, entering a long corridor. There were some oil paintings on the walls on both sides of the corridor. The contents of the paintings were similar. For example, on the dining table covered with a white tablecloth, there was a pottery filled with milk, placed in front of the dinner plate, and the dinner plate was filled with sliced and neatly stacked bread. Next to the dinner plate was a silver plate, on which were placed a bunch of red and round grapes like rubies, pink peaches that seemed to emit a fresh fragrance, and watermelons cut into pieces with black seeds. Most of them were pictures depicting dining scenes at the table.
Every time you walked a certain distance, there would be two symmetrical statues on both sides of the corridor, all of which were characters from Greek legends, such as the peerless beauty Helen, Prometheus who stole fire, etc.
After passing through the corridor, there is a spacious hall. A crystal chandelier with flickering fluorescent light hangs from the ceiling in the center of the hall. Below the chandelier is a rectangular dining table. A middle-aged man and woman sit at both ends of the table. They are Constantine's parents, the King and Queen of Greece, George I and Queen Olga.
There is nothing in the empty hall except the dining table.
Constantine walked towards the dining table. His shoes collided with the black and white tiles on the ground, making a harsh "trampling" sound. It was very clear in the empty hall. The hall was so spacious that the footsteps of people actually echoed.
It is said that the restaurant was built like this to prevent people with bad intentions from approaching quietly.
The wide and grand hall, with hard black and white tiles laid in the hall, will make any strange noises obvious.
Constantine walked to the middle of the long dining table and pulled out a high-back chair to sit down.
"Good morning, His Majesty George, the beautiful Queen Olga," Constantine turned to greet them.
Nina stood respectfully behind Constantine, her hands hanging on both sides of her thighs.
George stared at the newspaper in his hand and responded without raising his head: "Good morning, Constantine is here, let's start eating."
As soon as he finished speaking, he put down the newspaper in his hand on the white tablecloth, put his hands together, and clapped his hands three times.
As soon as the clapping sounded, a row of male servants in tuxedos, with neatly combed hair, left hands behind their backs, and right hands dragging plates, came to the three people in an orderly manner, placed the breakfast neatly, bowed and saluted, kept the salute state, stepped back a few steps, and then resumed their normal posture and left the restaurant.
Because it was breakfast, it was not complicated. There was a plate of sliced oatmeal bread, jam on a plate, and a fruit salad on a silver plate. Inside, there were grapes and two slices of citrus cut in half. A glass of milk was placed in a glass, and there was some caviar as a condiment for the bread.
Queen Olga first put the napkin on her chest, tidied it up, raised the milk and took a sip, then picked up a piece of bread, spread the jam on it, took a bite, and wiped her mouth with a handkerchief after swallowing it. She said to Constantine: "My dear son, how is your expedition plan to the Congo in Africa going?".
Constantine was not flustered when he heard his mother's inquiry. After wiping his mouth with the handkerchief on his left hand, he replied: "I have received news that Mr. Stanley, the leader of the explorer team funded by your majesty and me, will come to Athens by boat today. One is to report to us on the progress of the expedition plan, and the other is to take this opportunity to rest for a while."
