Hogwarts Emerald

Chapter 523 One Step Away

The morning sun was warm and soft, illuminating the entire Hogsmeade village. The lively village also woke up at the moment of sunrise and plunged into the busy day.

In the corner of this wizarding village is a house known as the Shrieking Shack, but Ada and the twins prefer to call it Twilight Shack. That is their secret base, which carries a lot of their sweetness and sorrow.

Since Ada dropped out of school, the Twilight Cottage has lost its breath of life, and Fred and George no longer conduct their research in the Cottage. However, the few months of vacancy did not make the cabin covered with dust, and the windows were still clean and dust-free.

Presumably someone had been cleaning the place, probably Winnie the house elf, although there wasn't much point in doing so.

The sun rose higher and higher, and the light it shed became dazzling. A sound came from the sofa in the hut.

Then, the young and beautiful blond woman sat up, rubbed her sleepy eyes, drowsily took a glass of water for herself, and then sat back on the sofa holding the cup.

Ada pinched her waist and punched her legs. Even if the sofa is soft, it will still feel uncomfortable to curl up and sleep on it. I don't know since when, she became a little more delicate.

After leaving the abandoned manor last night, Ada found Sergey and others who had left first, and also saw the bodies of Bernard and Robert. These two people died because of her. Ada felt sad and mournful in her heart, but more of it was an indescribable feeling.

When speaking to others, Ada can always be cruel, and can even be said to be cruel. But internally, Ada's heart is no longer as hard as iron. She once had doubts about these people, but Bernard and Robert proved their loyalty with death.

The four survivors, Sergey, Sidorov, Hartmann, and Laurent, also fulfilled their promises. There are curses flying around the abandoned manor, and their ability to survive is their destiny.

Ada didn't say much. She should have made some exciting remarks to win over people's hearts, but she didn't. She just asked Sergey to send the two of them back to their hometown to rest in peace.

Ada didn't know whether the wizard's soul returned to his hometown and was buried in peace, but she felt that being buried in his hometown was probably what Bernard and Robert wanted to see.

After arranging her next trip, Ada returned to Hogwarts alone and walked around the campus in the dark. She originally wanted to see the small swamp that the twins left in the school, but she stood still in front of the castle gate for a long time and finally gave up the plan.

In addition, Ada also wanted to shout "Hogwarts, your female student union president is back", but after thinking about it, she decided to forget it.

Now she has been rumored to be the new generation of Dark Lord by the outside world, and her actions are also developing in this direction. Perhaps she will become the real Dark Lord in the near future. Therefore, it is better not to shout this sentence.

Ada walked around the playground like this for a long time, and even went to the Quidditch pitch to sit for a while. She once shouted in the stands and flew desperately above the pitch.

When the moon began to disappear and a glimmer of light appeared in the sky, Ada went to the Twilight Cabin. On the way to the Whomping Willow, she also saw Hagrid's cabin in the distance, which was now in ruins.

A fire made Hagrid, who was already poor, even worse.

Perhaps it was because returning to Hogwarts made Ada feel at ease, or perhaps because she had been too careful when decorating the Twilight House. In a familiar room, Ada fell asleep sitting on the sofa without knowing it.

In the past six months, Ada had squeezed herself too hard and forced herself too hard. She was really tired. Ada could have lied down and been eating, drinking and having fun like her Miss Rosier, but she still chose this mountain road full of thorns without hesitation and became a mountain climber.

If the midday sun hadn't been too dazzling and if she hadn't been so hungry, Ada would probably have fallen asleep for a long time until the sun set again.

Ada Ku, who was more awake, sat in a rocking chair by the window, with the curtains half drawn, just enough to block the dazzling sunlight.

Ada had already searched the hut, but there was nothing to satisfy her hunger. Although she was hungry, she didn't want to leave. She wanted to stay a little longer. It's better to wait a little longer, because after leaving this time, I don't know when I will come back, and I don't know if I can come back again.

Time sometimes seems very long, and sometimes it passes very quickly. When Ada regains consciousness again, it is already pitch black outside the window, and a crescent moon hangs far away in the sky.

Feeling like she was about to starve to death, Ada finally left the Twilight House. After returning the water glass to its original position, Ada walked towards the Pig's Head Bar in the night. She was now a wanted criminal, but she somehow felt that Aberforth would not betray her information to the Ministry of Magic.

There were not many pedestrians on the street, and when Ada arrived at the Pig's Head Bar, the only thing that greeted her was the closed door. I don't know if the Pig's Head Bar closed too early today, or if it didn't open at all.

Unwilling to give up, Ada banged the door several times, and Aberforth's irritable response came from inside: "It's closed today!"

Ada banged three more times, and footsteps as violent as the owner's came from inside the door. After a while, the door opened a crack, revealing a face covered with gray beard.

"Come in." Aberforth glanced at Ada a few times before widening the gap in the door just enough for Ada to get in.

Ada sat by herself in front of the bar, with only one candle lighting the store. "I'm hungry, Aberforth," she said.

Aberforth Dumbledore didn't say anything. He walked directly behind the bar and took out a bottle of butterbeer. He then walked to an operation room in the back and brought out a sandwich that didn't look very good.

"Should I say you came by bad luck, or by chance?" Aberforth muttered.

Taking the sandwich, Ada did not stuff it into her mouth immediately, but asked: "What's wrong, besides me, are there any unwelcome guests today?"

"Yes, a very unwelcome guest." Aberforth said, "You came just after he left." After saying that, he picked up a dirty cup and wiped it. Even the handkerchief used to wipe the cup was not clean at all. The more I wiped the cup, the dirtier it became.

"Oh." Ada lowered her head and silently chewed the sandwich in her hand. Unexpectedly, the sandwich looked terrible but didn't taste bad. Maybe it was because she had been hungry for too long and her sense of taste had failed.

After all, I missed it. Ada and Albus Dumbledore passed each other again this night.

"Where did he go?" Ada asked, "Back to Hogwarts?"

"I don't know, probably not." Aberforth replied, "His position as principal has not been restored, which means that he is still the mastermind of the 'Dumbledore Rebellion' for the time being."

Ada didn't know how to express it, neither laughing nor crying. Could it be that defeating the new generation of Dark Lords was not enough for the Ministry of Magic, headed by Fudge, to realize how powerful Dumbledore was?

"It's time for me to go, Aberforth," Ada said as she devoured the sandwich.

"Well, let's go," Aberforth said. "Will we meet again?"

Ada had already reached the door. She paused and said, "Maybe, who knows! In fact, the sandwich you made doesn't taste bad. If you can change a handkerchief to wipe the wine glass, maybe the glass will be cleaner."

At the same time, Albus Dumbledore, who had left the Hog's Head, appeared at the Twilight Cottage.

This old man who was the invincible opponent in the magic world was now as down and out as a loser. His head full of white hair made him look particularly old in the moonlight. Dumbledore was also sitting in the rocking chair by the window, looking at the crescent moon in the sky in trance.

Dumbledore wondered if he was really wrong. Is Ada's journey to where she is today due to her childhood circumstances and personality, or is it the result of his teacher?

Some things are decided early on, while others are accumulated little by little and then explode at a certain moment.

Dumbledore's wise blue eyes were full of confusion. He slowly closed his eyes, no longer looking at the bright moon and shining stars.

Only a heavy sigh could be heard in the dark cabin.
