A group of researchers from Moscow State University designed the first ternary computers in human history, "CETYHB" and "CETYHB 70".
Moreover, at the beginning, both the price and performance were better than the binary computers at that time, and they had advantages that binary computers did not have. However, the Soviet bureaucrats at that time believed that it was not in line with the economic plan at that time, and as a result, the ternary computer plan was shelved indefinitely.
Although in the 1960s and early 1970s, ternary computer products had already been produced.
Unfortunately, however, Soviet bureaucrats were negative about this "science fiction product" that was not part of the economic plan.
They even ordered it to stop production. At this time, orders for "CETYHB" were pouring in from all sides, including orders from abroad, but the annual output of 10 to 15 units was far from enough to meet market demand, let alone export.
Soon, the Czechoslovak factory that planned to co-produce "CETYHB" went bankrupt.
In 1965, "CETYHB" was discontinued. It was replaced by a binary computer, but the price was 2.5 times more expensive.
In other words, although Soviet Union had already developed this ternary computer, its performance and even price were not inferior to binary computers.
Soviet Union gave up on its own initiative.
Now, these Soviet computer talents have come to Hong Kong. With the funding from the Empire Group, they immediately applied to start the re-development of ternary computers.
