Chapter 444: Isn’t Going Back to Azkaban the Same as Going Home?

Harry and others seemed very disappointed. No matter how hard they tried, Ivan refused to reveal any information.

Considering that there were still two or three days before the court session, Ivan was a little worried that they would have too much time to spare, so he secretly searched for the place where Sirius was being held, and then spoke.

"Harry, if you have such leisure, you might as well think carefully about how to make a statement in the court. Your testimony is very important and may affect the final outcome of the trial!"

After Ivan's reminder, Harry remembered this and suddenly became a little nervous. He had never been to court before and didn't know what to do.

"We can go to the library to look up the specific procedures for handling cases by the Inquisition. Can't we also know about the major cases that have been recorded in the past hundred years?" Hermione suggested.

"Good idea!" Harry nodded.

After getting the direction, Harry eagerly pulled Ron and Hermione to the library.

Of course, Ivan did not follow him. He just found a reason to say that he would have something to do later, and rejected Harry's invitation.

In fact, there are so many twists and turns in being a witness. It's not like being a lawyer or committing perjury. It's just about telling the truth.

The reason why Ivan took the initiative to mention this matter was entirely to find something for Harry and others to do to distract them.

While he was thinking about it, Ivan suddenly sensed something. He turned his head suddenly and looked out the window. The sky was gray, and there seemed to be some creature surging in the clouds.

"Dementors? Did they come so fast?" Ivan immediately thought that Snape had told him that the Ministry of Magic planned to send some dementors to assist the Aurors in guarding.

Ivan has always been distrustful of such evil creatures. It is simply impossible to expect the Dementors to have any self-control, so he plans to go to see what the people from the Ministry of Magic are doing at night.

As night falls, at the top of Hogwarts Castle, on an abandoned observatory, dozens of strange figures in cloaks are floating around the top of the tower.

At this time, Ivan had transformed into an owl, passed through the dementors' patrol, flew to the vent and stopped.

Dementors' eyesight is almost zero. With their special senses, they don't seem to be interested in animals, so they don't notice the existence of owls at all.

This also allows Ivan to easily see the scene inside the observatory.

It looked like a small prison. The walls were in disrepair and were corroded by time, and the gaps were filled with moss and vines.

Sirius and Peter were tied at both ends facing each other. Not only were their hands shackled, but their bodies were also tied tightly.

In addition to them, there was an Auror standing in the observatory, holding several pieces of parchment in his hand and recording something with a quill.

"Peter Pettigrew, do you have anything else to say? You haven't told me how you were discovered yet." The Auror wrote Peter Pettigrew's confession on the parchment, and then continued to ask.

"I really forgot, I can't remember anything. He used the forgetting spell on me, which made me forget a lot of things." Peter shook his head tremblingly.

"Someone used the Oblivion Curse on you? Who? Albus Dumbledore? Why did he do this to you? Is it because you knew some secret information?"

The Auror suddenly became very excited. He was ordered to come here to find out the whole story, but unexpectedly it seemed that he had an unexpected gain.

He knew that Minister of Magic Fudge was very dissatisfied with Dumbledore recently. If he could find something to report to Dumbledore, he might be able to get the minister's appreciation.

"No, it's not Dumbledore, it's Ivan Hals, the devil!" Peter replied in horror.

Whenever Peter thinks of that experience, he can't help but feel cold in his heart. He doesn't know how many things he has forgotten, and he doesn't know if his memory has been modified.

"Ivan Hals?" Auror vaguely felt that he had heard of this name, but couldn't remember it for a while.

Sirius, who had been silent next to him, suddenly said. "That's a very good little wizard. He discovered Peter's traces. As for why he used the forgetting spell on Peter, I think it was because he was worried about what Peter would do during the investigation."

The Auror frowned. It was illegal to use the Forgetting Curse to delete or modify a wizard's memory privately.

But he didn't say much, because this time the situation was special. The victim Peter was a criminal, and the other party also had a reason to use the Forgetting Curse, so he just recorded the incident on paper.

After repeated questioning and confirming that Peter had said everything he needed to say, the Auror turned his head to look at Black and said with some expectation.

"Mr. Black, I wonder how you have considered my previous suggestion?"

"You expect me to tell the public that I was very comfortable during my time in Azkaban after the trial results come out? Being put in a cell is like going home?" Black said with a sneer.

"I didn't ask you to say that. Mr. Black, you just need to explain that you did not suffer abuse or other unfair treatment in Azkaban."

The Auror's expression was very embarrassing. He also understood that this was not very authentic, but this was an order given by the superiors. He could only try his best to negotiate, so he continued to speak earnestly.

"If you are willing to cooperate with us, the Ministry of Magic will give you enough compensation after you are released from prison!"

"Compensation? Do you mean some gold galleons?" Sirius curled his lips disdainfully. What he lacked most was gold galleons. The Ministry of Magic might have made a wrong idea in hoping to use some gold galleons to bribe him.

More importantly, Sirius sincerely looked down on the Ministry of Magic's behavior. He looked at the Auror with disdain and said.

"Anyway, I will tell the truth!"

Seeing Sirius being so stubborn, the Auror became a little uneasy. In his opinion, the Ministry of Magic had shown enough sincerity, and he even gave up his humiliating request, but the other party still didn't appreciate it.

Thinking of this, the Auror couldn't help but threaten.

"Mr. Black! I advise you to think more carefully. Going against the Ministry of Magic is not a wise choice! You haven't cleared your name yet."

However, Sirius did not accept this trick at all and ignored the other party. He knew very well that if the Ministry of Magic had nothing to do, it would not send someone to beg him to say good things or mention any compensation.
