Chapter 676: Meet the Master, Guard the Huangting, and Cultivate the Valley Spirit
After listening to Zhang Zhiwei's explanation, Lu Ci suddenly said:
"I see. I was thinking just now that these years have been uneven, with constant natural and man-made disasters. Droughts are occurring in many places. It would be great if Senior Brother Zhang can usher in a thunderstorm and have heavy rain. After all, I am overthinking it!"
"To pray for rain and wind, most people just go with the flow. As strong as Wuhou, they can only borrow the east wind for a while. If you want to truly go against the will of nature and change the drought situation in a city or a province, it cannot be done by human power!" Zhang Zhiwei sighed: "With the power of man and the power of heaven and earth, in the end, the arm cannot twist the thigh."
"It's not just the difference between the arm and the thigh, it's even the difference between the little finger and the thigh!" Lu Ci said: "By the way, Senior Brother Zhang, how do you know the top rainfall in Jiangxi, and where is the place with the highest rainfall in the country? "
"It's Guangdong!" Zhang Zhiwei said.
"It turns out it's Guangdong. That's not surprising. The place is very humid. Some time ago, several of my brothers went to study at a military academy in Yangcheng over there. A few brothers and I also went to give them away. It rained for a few days!" Lu Ci said.
Huangpu... Zhang Zhiwei glanced at Lu Ci in surprise: "You children of the Lu family are still doing this?"
Lu Ci said: "Not everyone in the family has the talent for cultivation, and not everyone likes cultivation. Many of the Lu family are doing business outside, and many are officials!"
"That's it!" Zhang Zhiwei nodded.
"By the way, Senior Brother Zhang, did you calculate the ranking of rainfall through deduction?" Lu Ci asked.
"I know it through the geographical knowledge I learned!" Zhang Zhiwei said.
"Geography knowledge?" Lu Ci asked in surprise: "Longhu Mountain also teaches some geography knowledge?"
"Are you surprised?" Zhang Zhiwei asked.
"Yes!" Lu Ci nodded.
Lu Ci is a child of an aristocratic family. No matter what age, children of an aristocratic family are at the forefront of the world in terms of education. Although Lu Ci looks like a reckless man, he is actually quite educated and can speak several foreign languages.
On the other hand, Taoist priests mostly studied ancient books and had little understanding of some modern knowledge, so he did not expect Zhang Zhiwei to understand this.
Zhang Zhiwei glanced at him and said: "There is no special class in Longhu Mountain, but there is no rule that you can't learn. My master also attended the Capital University?"
"Celestial Master actually has such an experience?" Lu Ci was immediately shocked. The Imperial Academy was the predecessor of Peking University and was the highest institution of higher learning at that time. It was not easy for people to attend.
"Is there still a day off? Come on, let me explain it to you..."
Zhang Zhiwei began to talk about some of the glorious deeds of the master that he had heard from the master and several uncles.
…………
…………
The two walked as they talked, and soon they walked down the back mountain. At this time, the rain stopped, the dark clouds dispersed, and the moon could be seen through the clouds.
Seeing this, Lu Ci thought about what Zhang Zhiwei had just reminded him, so he went to practice again with his hoe.
Zhang Zhiwei went to Tianshi's private residence to find his master. It was impossible for his master to not notice such a big movement just now, and he had no intention of hiding it from his master in the first place.
When I first entered Tianshi's private room, I saw, as expected, that the lights in Master's room were on and the windows on one side were wide open.
Zhang Zhiwei looked out in the direction of the window and found that the window was facing the mountain behind. Looking up, he could see the scene when he was surviving the thunder disaster.
"Master has seen everything that happened before?" Zhang Zhiwei thought to himself.
He walked to the door and was about to knock on the door when he saw that the door was ajar. Master would close the door when taking a break. If he didn't close the door, it meant he was waiting for someone to come. This was a common problem among more Xuanmen teachers.
After being a disciple for so many years, Zhang Zhiwei is very clear about some of his master's little thoughts.
He switched from knocking to pushing and opened the door directly.
In the waiting room, the master had indeed not rested. He was sitting at the desk, reading an ancient Taoist book.
Zhang Zhiwei took a look and saw that the name of the book was "The Rootless Tree".
This name is a bit strange...it reminds me of Buyao Bilian...
He thought to himself, and then went over to pay homage to the master.
Zhang Jingqing did not put down the Taoist book in his hand. He kept looking down at the book. He turned his eyes upward and looked at Zhang Zhiwei without saying anything. After staring for a moment, he said angrily:
"You didn't knock on the door either. Who allowed you to come in?"
"Master, if you don't close the door, aren't you just waiting for me?" Zhang Zhiwei said.
Zhang Jingqing snorted coldly and said angrily: "I'm waiting for you to tell the truth, but I didn't let you come in without telling me. You exit and knock on the door again to come in."
Zhang Zhiwei: "…………"
You are the master, you are the greatest.
Zhang Zhiwei was not angry either. He walked out with a bang, closed the door, and knocked again to say hello.
"Come in!"
Zhang Zhiwei walked in again, and Zhang Jingqing put down the Taoist book in his hand and drank a cup of tea.
With the little episode just now, Zhang Zhiwei did not get straight to the point. He looked at the Taoist book called "The Rootless Tree" on the desk and asked:
"Master, what is this about?"
Zhang Jingqing put down the tea cup and said: "This is a book written by Zhang Sanfeng. It is named "Tree without Roots" as a metaphor that our lives have no roots and will die at any time, so we must plant the roots."
"Is there anything worth learning from in this book?" Zhang Zhiwei asked again.
"Without the true Dharma, it is difficult to gain entry without oral or mental instruction. There are only some principles in this book. If you are interested, you can read it." Zhang Jingqing said.
"I'm a little interested," Zhang Zhiwei asked, "What does it say?"
Zhang Jingqing said: "Let the rootless tree have roots. This book talks about the immortal grafting method."
"Immortal... grafting..." Zhang Zhiwei said: "I don't quite understand. Master, can you explain it?"
If Zhang Zhiwei asked some random questions, Zhang Jingqing would be very impatient, because he knew that the content would soon be known to the whole Longhu Mountain, but he was still very patient when Zhang Zhiwei asked some questions related to Taoist books.
He explained: "What is grafting? It can be described by a few words in "The Rootless Tree"!"
"The rootless tree, the flowers are just wispy, the old tree is grafted with new branches, plums are grafted with willows, mulberries are grafted with pears, and they are passed on to the cultivation of Taoism as an example. Since ancient times, the immortals have grafted, and people have medicine to treat old age..."
"Guard the Huangting, nourish the valley god, and men are pregnant and laughable!"
"You will know the details when you see it!" Zhang Jingqing handed the Taoist book in his hand to Zhang Zhiwei.
Zhang Zhiwei took it and thought about it while reading the contents of the book. He was not a Taoist novice. He could understand the meaning of the master's words and the specific contents of the book.
The general meaning is that people are like trees without roots, old and weak, with limited spirit, just waiting to die.
But old trees in the world can still be grafted with tender branches and flourish again, just like plum trees grafted with willow trees and mulberry trees grafted with pear trees.
Such heartless things can still be revived from old age. How can people, the spirits of all things that have the righteousness of heaven and earth, be old without medicine?
And the way of medicine is to graft old things. As for the latter sentence "Guarding the Huangting, nourishing the valley spirit, men are pregnant and laughable", of course it cannot be simply understood as men being pregnant, or men getting fat and having a big belly.
It should be through practicing some method that a body outside the body is born.
The picture and text description of this sentence in the book "The Rootless Tree" is that a baby comes out on the top of a person's head.
When ordinary people see this kind of scene, they will think that it is the emergence of Yin Shen or Yang Shen.
But Zhang Zhiwei does not think so, because no matter whether it is the emergence of Yin Shen or Yang Shen, the appearance shown is his own appearance, not an inexplicable baby, it is more like another ability.
As for the first half of the sentence, "Guard Huangting and nourish Gu Shen".
Huangting is the central position, that is, the orifice in the combination of Yin and Yang, also known as the gate of Yuanpin, which is actually the lower Dantian.
In the body, Yuanyang and Yin, Yin and Yang are combined. If there is this orifice, there is Gu, if there is Gu, there is Shen, if there is no such orifice, there is no Gu, and if there is no Gu, there is no Shen.
Gu is Huangting, Huang means the middle color, and Ting means emptiness. Because of the emptiness in the middle, it is named Huangting.
The Gu Shen here should refer to something born in Huangting.
As for what it is, perhaps we have to start with the origin of Gu Shen.
There are many meanings of Valley God. In the sixth chapter of Tao Te Ching, Lao Tzu described it as "Valley God is immortal, which is called Xuanpin. The gate of Xuanpin is the root of heaven and earth. It is everlasting and never exhausted".
Zhang Zhiwei still remembers that when Master was teaching Tao Te Ching, he talked about "Valley God" and "Xuanpin Gate", saying that they have several meanings.
On the surface, the "Valley" in Valley God is a valley to describe the nothingness of the Tao. The empty valley can give birth to all things.
"God" refers to the ability to give birth to all things and the process of not being bound by form.
The combined meaning is that the Tao gives birth to all things in the void, and all things come from it. It is the root of the generation and change of all things in heaven and earth, so it is the root of heaven and earth.
There is another explanation for "Xuanpin" and "Valley God", which refers to a state of spiritual awareness in the ancients' cultivation and enlightenment.
As the saying goes, the heart has no place to stay, the best is like water, and the most empty is like a valley.
Under the state of being humble and open-minded, a special kind of clear awareness is called the Valley Spirit, also called the Mysterious Female.
In short, this explains some ontological Taoism. Ontology is a very famous viewpoint discussed in both the East and the West.
I will not talk about the Western alchemy system here. In the Eastern Qi training system, ontology is also called "root theory".
Some Taoist masters generally attribute the root of heaven and earth, that is, the root of heaven and earth, to something that is invisible and intangible, and fundamentally different from heaven and earth.
In their understanding, there are three explanations for the root of heaven and earth.
One is a substance without a fixed form, such as the innate Qi.
The second is some abstract concepts or principles of Taoism, such as "nothingness", "law", and "reason".
The third is "heart", that is, the continuation and longevity of subjective spirit.
These three viewpoints come from three schools of thought.
The Taoist classics are like this. They point directly to the Tao, but they are mysterious and mysterious. A thousand people read them and have a thousand understandings.
And these thousand people often gain something.
According to the understanding of later generations, these three schools of thought may be classified as naive materialism, objective idealism and subjective idealism.
As for Zhang Zhiwei, he did not divide himself.
He is neither a pure materialist nor a pure idealist.
Or in his opinion, arguing hard on a point of view is actually falling into delusion. If you let go of the obsession and jump out to see, there may be many different points.
In his opinion, the Taoist Laozi is both materialistic and idealistic, or in other words, they actually coexist.
In this way, the above three explanations of the "root of heaven and earth" are actually all reasonable.
The so-called root of heaven and earth is both the innate qi and the abstract truth, principle and law. Similarly, it is also the "heart", the continuation and longevity of the subjective spirit.
Or, in a sense, they are originally one thing, a mutually progressive relationship.
The first step is to polish one's "heart", one's own subjectivity.
The second step is to materialize the innate Qi.
The third step is to transform into laws and principles.
At this thought, Zhang Zhiwei thought of the Trinity School. The three levels of reverse birth seek to train oneself into the innate Qi. Doesn't this just conform to one of the viewpoints?
Perhaps the Trinity Patriarch saw this point, but he was too persistent and couldn't let go, so he couldn't see the previous and the next items. He took a big step and pulled his balls, and he couldn't succeed in the end.
And what if it succeeded?
Zhang Zhiwei remembered the huge Dharmakaya of Vairocana Tathagata that he saw when Master Henglin gave the Tiantai Sect, as well as the Buddhas and many Bodhisattvas in the Dharmakaya of Vairocana Tathagata.
Vairocana Tathagata is the Dharmakaya shared by all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. It is the omnipresent and eternal Buddhist principle.
Isn't this exactly the second one?
Buddha has three bodies, a trinity. If you think about it carefully, don't the three bodies correspond to three statements?
"If this is the Valley God, this is the root of heaven and earth..."
Zhang Zhiwei remembered the baby that appeared out of thin air in Zhang Chulan's belly in the plot.
The words "nothing gained, leading to the Valley God" were written on the baby's body.
From this point of view alone, Zhang Chulan undoubtedly meets the description of "guarding the Huangting, raising the Valley God, and men are pregnant and laugh at people" in "The Rootless Tree".
And if the baby in his belly is the Valley God, whose Valley God is it?
It can't be Zhang Chulan's own Valley God, right?
Of course, this is also possible. After all, the big-eared thief created a source of Qi body and said it was the end of the art. When the art reaches the end, isn't it close to Tao?
But the probability is very small, because the product of this kind of practice can never be achieved in one fell swoop. If there is such a technique, the disadvantages must be unprecedentedly large.
But what if it is not Zhang Chulan's own Valley God?
Whose would it be, the big-eared thief, or... Wu Gensheng?
Judging from the divine ability displayed by the doll, Zhang Zhiwei felt that it was most likely Wu Gensheng.
If so, wouldn't it mean that Zhang Chulan actually already had something similar to the Heavenly Master Degree or the golden branch of the Nasen sacred tree in his body?
In other words, not only Zhang Chulan, but also several other people with the Eight Wonders have something similar in their bodies, just like the Nine Guards of Nasen.
This is also the restriction planted in their bodies by Wu Gensheng, a restriction that no one can break except Zhang Huaiyi.
If this is true, thinking of the relationship between Zhang Chulan and Feng Baobao, did the big-eared thief take advantage of Wu Gensheng, who is not shaking Bi Lian? Maybe not!
"Pah!"
Zhang Zhiwei closed the book "The Rootless Tree". He knew that the master would never do things without reason, but he also liked to use secret codes like knocking three times like the Xuanmen master, and I'm afraid it would be the same this time.
"Master, do you want me to guard the Huangting and nourish the Valley Spirit?" Zhang Zhiwei asked.
Zhang Jingqing nodded and said, "You just went to the Three Disasters, right? Tell me how you fought against the thunder of heaven and earth?"
