Red Soviet Union

Chapter 84 October Revolution Parade

The October Revolution was a baptism before the establishment of the great Soviet Union! Every year on November 7, a military parade is held without fail.

This year's military parade will showcase the Soviet Union's tremendous national strength!

On this day, the sickle and hammer flags were flying high on the Red Square, and all the troops being reviewed were quietly waiting for that moment to come.

"Great Russia, a permanent union; independent republics, freely combined. The Soviet Union, established by the will of all nations, is united and powerful for thousands and thousands of years! Free motherland, you are incomparably glorious: a solid fortress of fraternity among all nations! The Soviet red flag, the red flag of the people, leads from victory to victory!"

"The sun of freedom shines on us; the great Lenin points out the future. Stalin teaches us to be loyal to the people and inspires us to make great achievements. Free motherland, you are extremely glorious: a solid fortress of happiness for all nations! The Soviet red flag, the people's red flag, leads from victory to victory!"

"Growing up in war, our Red Army will wipe out the enemy when they invade. The fate of several generations is decided in the struggle. Lead our motherland to glory! Free motherland, you are incomparably glorious: a solid fortress of glory for all nations! The Soviet red flag, the people's red flag, leads from victory to victory!"

As the loud singing of "Unbreakable Alliance" floated over the Red Square, the military parade officially began!

The first column to come up, holding high the portrait of Lenin, passed through the Red Square. No other sound could be heard except the sound of their uniform footsteps.

On the reviewing stand above Lenin's Mausoleum, senior Soviet leaders, including Brezhnev, were waving to the approaching parade troops.

During its construction, Lenin's Mausoleum underwent several modifications and had the function of being a parade site.

The bottom of Lenin's Mausoleum is a stable stone base, followed by steps that gradually become smaller upwards, and above it is a flat stone platform leading to the reviewing stand; further up are five steps of different heights and a colonnade consisting of 36 columns; the top is a two-step flat roof, which is the reviewing platform, where parades and armed forces are reviewed during national holidays.

On both sides of the reviewing platform were viewing stands made of gray marble. At this moment, in a corner of the viewing stand, the tall Andre looked at the military parade outside through the gap between other people's portraits.

Magnificent and spectacular! The military parade in the Soviet era was more majestic than the later Chinese military parade!

Being able to come here to watch a military parade is a lifetime honor for a Soviet citizen! And Andrei now has such an opportunity, which makes him very excited.

"Ura, Ura!" The parade troops shouted, and the sound resounded through the sky. This is the great Soviet Union, an unbreakable alliance!

After the infantry column passed, the armored column also came. Watching the T-72 tanks rumbling over, Andre seemed to see a rolling armored torrent, flattening the whole of Europe, to hell with capitalism!

The military parade that took place during the day was still flashing before his eyes. Andre was in a state of extreme excitement all day long. The national anthem was still echoing in his ears. That unique melody could inspire generations of people.

And on that evening, a grand banquet was held in the Kremlin.

Brezhnev at this time was no longer the terminally ill old man he was in the early 1980s. He was in good spirits, just like the Soviet Union, which was in its heyday and was about to completely surpass the United States economically and become the world's largest country!

"Come on, cheers!" In the Kremlin's Georgiev Hall, the spectators in the stands who had participated in the military parade during the day were now celebrating the 58th anniversary of the victory of the October Revolution in this hall.

As a Soviet, vodka is always the favorite. Only on this day, there is no distinction between superiors and subordinates. You just need to hold the glass and find someone to drink with.

Brezhnev also liked such occasions. Now, he was the helmsman of this great country and the leader of the Soviet Union!

Andrei hid in a corner. Everyone here was in a high position and had great power. It was a great honor for a small lieutenant colonel like himself to be able to come here. He could not talk much, and certainly not talk as eloquently as he did in Andropov's house.

He was observing silently. Almost everyone present was over 60 years old. It was true geriatric politics.

Look at the one with gray hair over there. That's Chernenko. He was Andropov's mortal enemy. He had been competing with Andropov and wanted to become the leader of the Soviet Union after Brezhnev's death. Fortunately, life gave him a chance. He lived 13 months longer than Andropov and served as the General Secretary of the Soviet Union for 13 months.

This guy’s hand holding the wine glass is shaking a little. Is he toasting the General Secretary?

Andre turned his gaze elsewhere and saw one face after another that would be very familiar to later generations.

Ustinov, Gromyko, Tikhonov…

"Andre, are you here too?" At this moment, a voice came to my ears.

Andrei looked up and saw a slightly excited face: "Comrade Simonov?"

As an outstanding representative of military-industrial enterprises, the Sukhoi Design Bureau also had a seat in the stands, which was originally planned to be reserved for Sukhoi himself. Unfortunately, Pavel Osipovich Sukhoi, the outstanding Soviet aviation designer, passed away a few days ago. Deputy Chief Designer Simonov came here to attend the celebration.

Andrei didn't expect that Simonov's memory was so good. He only met this famous designer once at the Sokolovka base, but the other party remembered him!

"Andrei, you flew a fighter plane and shot down the American Blackbird reconnaissance plane with two missiles, protecting the airspace of our motherland. This is something that the entire Soviet Union should be proud of, and it is also a tribute to the October Revolution Parade!" Simonov said, "Pravda has reported your deeds. You have brought honor to our Soviet aviation industry!"

Andrei couldn't help but shook his head: "Comrade Simonov, do you think our missiles can shoot down a plane traveling at three times the speed of sound?"

Andrei had also read Pravda, which reported that Andrei was shot down by two advanced medium-range missiles. The description was so vivid that Andrei couldn't help but admire the editor's imagination.

What confuses the Americans is that Andrei knows that the way Americans obtain internal information about the Soviet Union is through newspapers, magazines, etc. published by the Soviet Union.

If it were someone else, it would definitely be kept strictly confidential, but the person in front of him was different. He was an aircraft designer! He was also the deputy chief designer of the Sukhoi Design Bureau. He had every right to know how to shoot down an enemy plane.
