Chapter 59 What is our senior Tom doing? (Please read~~)
Dumbledore's tone is extremely sincere.
Harry was suspicious: "Really?"
"Of course, professors don't have that much energy to search every corner of Hogwarts." Dumbledore nodded and smiled slightly, "And this bathroom has been abandoned for fifty years, and almost no one uses it."
"We are not perverts who break into the girls' bathroom now."
Harry walked to the faucet and said skillfully in Parseltongue: "Open."
A dazzling white light flashed.
The faucet twisted, like a snake, crawling to the left, the root canal pulled the sink, causing it to vibrate and rotate, revealing a circular door that was open. Of course, it was more like the entrance to the water pipe.
"This is really it." Harry rubbed his face with a strange expression, "What did my senior Tom do to find the entrance to the Chamber of Secrets."
It was late at night.
When the Ravenclaws began to wander to the restricted area.
Hufflepuffs appeared in the kitchen.
Gryffindors were thinking about what to do.
Tom searched carefully in the girls' bathrooms one after another.
"Okay, Professor McGonagall will take Mr. Potter back." Snape flicked his sleeves, "He shouldn't stay here..."
"No, we still need Harry." Dumbledore interrupted him.
Snape took out his wand and looked at him coldly: "You know what's underneath!"
"But we may also need Parseltongue." Dumbledore took out a thumb-sized crystal bottle from his robe, which contained a shallow layer of crystal clear liquid, "Don't worry, I have Fox's tears."
Harry's eyes lit up.
Phoenix Tears.
A rare material with strong healing effects, not on the banned list, but not even for sale in Diagon Alley.
"Harry, do you want some?" Dumbledore noticed Harry's gaze.
Harry nodded: "Of course, as a reward for my forced participation in this matter, how about it?"
Demon hunters have always been "thieves never leave empty-handed."
"Then it's settled." Dumbledore waved his wand, and the spell effect fell on Harry and Snape. He turned his head and looked at McGonagall, "Minerva, please stay here."
McGonagall nodded.
The three of them got into the pipe, and the spell effect made them swim forward slowly.
"Harry." Dumbledore said more information, "I asked Madam Myrtle, the student who died fifty years ago. She said that she only saw a pair of yellow lantern-like things, and then died."
"Can you guess what it is?"
A pair?
That's the eyes.
Yellow, staring at each other is death...
Harry quickly found the corresponding name in the list of dark magic creatures: "Is it... Basilisk?"
Dumbledore nodded: "Yes."
"So be careful when you go down, close your eyes." Snape said, mocking coldly, "Don't stare at it like a brainless troll."
"You don't need to do anything."
"Dumbledore and I can solve it."
"Can you leave the skin, teeth and spine of the Basilisk to me?" Harry asked.
"As long as you behave yourself." Snape immediately agreed for Dumbledore, "Don't cause us trouble, you can take those useless things back and play your armor game like playing house."
"Thank you for your kindness." Harry praised expressionlessly.
Snape snorted, turned his head away, and ignored him.
They landed quickly.
At the end of the water pipe is a natural cave, damp, dark, and strangely silent, without the breath of any living creatures, only dripping, dripping, and water drops falling from time to time.
Snape waved his wand, lit up the light, and illuminated the surroundings.
The ground was covered with dense corpses, mostly small rodents, with occasional fish bones.
"It seems that our basilisks don't have a good diet." Harry commented simply, "After living for thousands of years, they can only use these things to fill their stomachs, tsk."
Dumbledore waved his wand, rolled up the corpses, threw them into the shadows, and led the way forward.
They soon passed a flat ground.
Harry stopped.
"What's wrong?" Dumbledore's expression was serious, and magic began to gather in his hands.
Harry gestured: "There used to be something here, very large, at least twenty feet long, with a faint magical aura."
"The basilisk rested here?" Dumbledore frowned, staring at the flat ground that was almost the same as other places in his eyes.
"No, it should be snake skin." Harry shook his head, squatted down, and reached out to wipe the ground, "It was just taken away, the traces are very fresh, less than a day."
He looked up at Dumbledore.
"Or rather, when the Quidditch match started."
"He guessed that we would find the Chamber of Secrets and made preparations in advance."
"I'm afraid we will find nothing this time."
Dumbledore frowned: "This is really not good news."
They continued to move forward.
When they were almost out of the castle, they came to the end, a solid wall with two vivid stone snakes carved on it, their eyes made of glittering emeralds, the craftsmanship was very delicate, as if they were alive.
"Open." Harry said the word again in Parseltongue.
The two snakes' eyes flashed with emerald light, they coiled and crawled to the side, moving the stone wall away, revealing a wide passage.
Inside was a hall, dim, cold, and filled with a strong and sinister smell.
Is it the smell of a basilisk?
Harry frowned, this was really uncomfortable.
Dumbledore waved his wand, cast a spell on them, and added a layer of protection. He walked in alone. After a while, he called Harry and the others: "Come in, it's safe inside."
The hall was bigger than it looked from the outside.
Thirteen pillars supported such a huge structure. On each pillar, there was a carving of a snake, circling, entangled, and hunting with its mouth open. Each one had a different look.
And, at the end of the hall, there was a huge portrait carved on the wall.
An old man with a monkey-like appearance, sparse beard, and a robe that was so long that it looked a little ill-fitting.
"Is this Slytherin?" Harry walked to Dumbledore's side.
Dumbledore nodded.
"I thought he would look like Voldemort." Harry commented casually, and took another step forward, "I'm going to try to talk to him again."
"Maybe it will call out the basilisk."
Dumbledore raised his wand.
"Open!" Harry closed his eyes and read the snake language loudly.
There was a rumbling and shaking sound in his ears, but nothing happened. There was only a faint breath of magic, and no other breath.
Dumbledore patted his shoulder: "There is no basilisk here."
Harry opened his eyes and looked.
Slytherin's mouth opened wide, and the dark hole almost occupied nearly half of his face.
"Let's go in and take a look." Dumbledore waved his wand, and the three of them flew up and followed Slytherin's mouth into the statue.
It was a room no smaller than the common room.
Dry and clean.
But it was empty. There was no book on the bookshelf, and the cabinets where rare materials were stored were also swept clean.
"Senior Tom collected everything really well." Harry scanned the place carefully, but didn't find anything else of value. "I'm ashamed of myself."
