Chapter 702 Travels
"Elder, why do you, a great disciple, look so ugly?"
After Tang Xuanzang heard this, he smiled helplessly and said, "Although they are a little ugly, they have boundless power. I am grateful to have their protection along the way."
While he was talking, several more monks came out. The original monk said to the monk behind him: "This teacher is a figure from the Tang Dynasty in China, and these three are his disciples."
When the monks heard this, they immediately felt very happy and said to Tang Xuanzang, "I wonder what the reason for your coming here is?"
After saying this, Tang Xuanzang immediately said: "I was ordered by the contemporary Tang Dynasty King to go to Leiyin Temple to worship Buddha and seek scriptures. Now I am passing by here and want to ask what kind of place it is. Secondly, I want to eat some food."
The monks were all very happy and quickly invited Tang Xuanzang inside. There were several monks eating there. The original monk immediately said loudly after entering:
"Everyone, come and take a look. It turns out that China also has ugly and handsome characters. The handsome ones are very difficult to write and draw, but the ugly ones look very weird."
As soon as he said this, many monks ran out, all wanting to see Tang Xuanzang. After eating some food, Tang Xuanzang slowly said:
"What exactly is this place?"
The previous monk said to Tang Xuanzang: "This is the outskirts of Tianzhu Kingdom, Jinping Mansion."
Then Tang Xuanzang continued to ask: "How far is it from Lingshan Mountain?"
After saying this, many monks frowned and were speechless. After a while, one of the monks said:
"Actually, I'm not very clear about this. We just walked from here to the center of Tianzhu City, but we haven't walked yet to Lingshan. We don't know how long it is, so we can't talk nonsense."
After Tang Xuanzang heard this, he immediately thanked that monk. Then Tang Xuanzang was about to get up and leave. All the monks rushed up to stop Tang Xuanzang. Said to Tang Xuanzang:
"Teacher, please stay here for a few more days. How about we go outside for a walk after the Lantern Festival?"
Hearing this, Tang Xuanzang felt very confused and said in surprise: "I have been on the road for a long time. I only know that there are mountains, waters and some monsters, but I don't know what the Lantern Festival is."
The monks smiled and said to Tang Xuanzang:
"It seems that you attach great importance to studying Buddhist scriptures and worshiping Buddha. The day after tomorrow is the Lantern Festival, and our prefect here has asked us to light up the lanterns. If you stay here for a few more days, our temple can still afford it."
After Tang Xuanzang heard this, he immediately felt helpless and could only nod his head in agreement. That night, he heard loud gongs and drums outside.
Everyone came to the temple to bring lanterns to the Buddha. Tang Xuanzang and the abbot came out and saw the lantern. After a while, they went back to sleep.
After dinner the next day, I took a walk in the back garden. It was really a good place.
I saw birds singing and flowers fragrant inside. There were many flowers, plants and trees. The flowers were extremely fragrant. There were many rockeries and a pond around.
After the four masters and apprentices played there for a while, they planned to leave after another day.
Just as they were about to leave, Tang Xuanzang said to Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing: "I originally had a wish to sweep the tower. Today I just took advantage of the festival to ask the master of the hospital to open it. They let me fulfill my wish."
When the monks heard this, they opened the pagoda door. Sha Wujing took his cassock and followed Tang Xuanzang from the first floor to the top. When it was over, it was already evening and the lamps were lit. The monks said to Tang Xuanzang:
"Fortunately, you didn't leave today. Today is the festival. We just looked at the lanterns in the temple a few days ago. Now come with us into the city to see how those lights are."
After saying this, Tang Xuanzang nodded, and then a group of people came to the city. They saw that the people in the city were very lively.
After a while, Tang Xuanzang found out that on the bridge, he took a closer look and saw that there were three lanterns and two floors of pavilions, all made of golden silk threads, with a little glass foil inside.
There was also some oil in the pavilion that was extremely fragrant. After Tang Xuanzang smelled the smell, he asked the monks with a puzzled look: "What kind of smell is this? Why is it so fragrant?"
Then, the group of monks explained to Tang Xuanzang.
After listening to the explanations of the monks, Sun Wukong asked the monks with a puzzled look. He only heard Sun Wukong ask:
"Since you all said this, why did it take three days to burn all the lamp oil? Who will collect the lamp oil in the end?"
Upon hearing this, all the monks put their hands together and said:
"Everyone said that the Buddha took away the lamp in the end. Every time it is burned dry, the harvest will be abundant in the next year. But if it is not burned cleanly, it will become drought and the wind and rain will be irregular the next year."
When he was talking about this, he suddenly heard the sound of wind in the air, which frightened those who were looking at the lanterns and fled in all directions. The monks could not stand and said to Tang Xuanzang:
"Master, let's go back first. The wind is blowing. It must be that Buddha has come here to look at the lanterns."
When Tang Xuanzang heard this, he said with confusion: "How could this be the Buddha coming to see the lamp?"
"I was originally a person who worshiped Buddha and learned scriptures. Now that I happen to meet you today, I might as well pay my respects."
After speaking, Tang Xuanzang came to the center of the bridge and wanted to pay respect to the monks, but he could not be pulled back. After a while, three Buddhas appeared in the air, and Tang Xuanzang knelt down and paid respect.
Sun Wukong hurriedly stepped forward to pull Tang Xuanzang and said to him, "Master, those monks are not good people. They must be monsters."
As Sun Wukong said this, the lights dimmed and Tang Xuanzang suddenly flew into the air.
This frightened Zhu Bajie so much that he stood aside, looking for Sha Wujing everywhere while calling out to Sun Wukong. Then he came to Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, patted their shoulders, and said to them:
"Brothers, don't shout there. Master was overjoyed and has been captured by the monster now."
The monk was very scared when he heard what Sun Wukong said, so he said to Sun Wukong:
"How do you know that they are monsters?"
Sun Wukong was very angry at this time, but he didn't get angry in front of the group of monks, and said slowly:
"You guys were deceived by the monster. If it was the real Buddha who came, these lamps would be used for supply. The Buddha bodies that appeared in the sealed road just now were just three monsters."
"My master couldn't recognize it at all, and he was captured by the monster when he went up."
