Chapter 1664 Wukong Attacks!
Outside the Jinluan Hall, eminent monks from all over the Tang Dynasty were lined up neatly in cassocks. The guards around them were holding weapons and looking at these eminent monks with solemn expressions.
Xuanzang stood in the middle of the group of eminent monks. Looking at Sun Wukong and Guanyin standing above him, he couldn't help feeling a little nervous.
Although they had secretly communicated with Sun Wukong before, the two had already secretly finalized the decision.
But with such a variable as Guanyin, there is no guarantee that he will be selected by Guanyin.
As for the other eminent monks, their faces showed excitement when they saw Guanyin appear. They did not know what happened this time. They just heard that the king of Tang had announced a list asking eminent monks from all over the country to gather in Chang'an for Guanyin Bodhisattva to select people to learn scriptures.
As for why they want to go to the West to obtain Buddhist scriptures, what dangers they will encounter on the way to obtain Buddhist scriptures, and what benefits they will get after completing it, they have no idea.
For many of them, being able to meet Guanshiyin, one of the great powers of Buddhism, is already an extremely lucky thing. Even if they are not selected as a Buddhist scripture collector, they will not be too regretful.
Guanyin took everyone's expressions into consideration, took out a willow branch from the jade liquid pure bottle and waved it gently. A few drops of willow nectar were thrown out by her, turning into sweet rain and falling on all the eminent monks.
All the eminent monks felt refreshed and all the hidden wounds on their bodies were healed.
"Thank you Bodhisattva!" All the eminent monks bowed to Guanyin and said excitedly.
"You are all my disciples of Buddhism. You have a firm mind of Zen and outstanding Buddhist practice. You deserve my blessings." Guanyin smiled and nodded to the eminent monks and said in a deep voice: "I invite you to gather together this time. I think you all know what happened in Chang'an."
"Reporting to the Bodhisattva, the young monk still has something unclear," Guanshiyin had just finished speaking. Xuanzang suddenly said in the crowd: "I wonder why the Bodhisattva chose this Buddhist scripture collector to go to the West to retrieve the scriptures?"
Upon hearing this, Avalokitesvara took a deep look at Xuanzang, and then explained: "The World-Honored One has compassion on the common people and wants to pass down the Mahayana Buddhism to save all living beings.
However, Buddhism can be passed on, but it cannot be passed on lightly. Therefore, it takes a person with a firm mind to meditate to set out from the Eastern Tang Dynasty, travel through mountains and rivers, go through many hardships and dangers, and arrive at the Great Leiyin Temple in order to pass down the Mahayana Buddhism. "
"Thank you Bodhisattva for clarifying the confusion," Xuanzang said in a deep voice, bowing respectfully to Guanyin.
In fact, as Li Shimin's sworn brother, he had long known the relevant information through secret channels. Now he suddenly asked questions, just to take this opportunity to attract Guanyin's attention.
After all, judging from the current situation, as long as he can get Guanyin to choose him as a Buddhist scripture learner, no one can shake his identity.
"I wonder how a Bodhisattva chooses a Buddhist scripture collector?" Xuanzang pondered for a moment, then asked Guanshiyin again.
"It's simple, as long as it pleases my eyes," Sun Wukong suddenly spoke without waiting for Guanyin to speak, with an unruly expression.
"I wonder who you are, senior?" Xuanzang looked at Sun Wukong and asked with confusion on his face.
He naturally knew the identity of Sun Wukong, but Xuanzang was a smart man and naturally knew what could be exposed and what could not be exposed.
"My old grandson is Sun Wukong, the Monkey King of Water Curtain Cave in Huaguo Mountain who caused havoc in the Heavenly Palace five hundred years ago!"
Sun Wukong heard this and said proudly: "At the same time, I am also the main force responsible for protecting the pilgrims heading west! Therefore, there is only one criterion for selecting Buddhist pilgrims, and that is that I am pleasing to the eye. Otherwise, I will recognize you with the golden hoop in my hand. Great but I don’t recognize you!”
