Chapter 434 Harry's Resistance and Persuasion
At the dinner table, no one except Dudley was paying attention to the poor grapefruit in front of him.
Harry ate slowly, thinking about the delicious cake.
Seconds later, Dudley had finished his share of grapefruit.
He was staring hard at Harry's share, a very hateful gleam in his little piggy eyes.
Harry wasn't going to mess with Dudley, he was going to speed up his share of the poor grapefruit.
Then, go back upstairs to enjoy the delicious cake, and wait for Ivan's reply.
But things backfired, and things quickly took a turn for the worse!
When Hedwig flew into Harry's cabin with Ivan's reply, an unprecedented storm was going through downstairs.
Uncle Vernon's roar almost lifted the floor, Hedwig stared at the amber eyes and jumped uneasily.
Over the past three years, it has become familiar with the yelling and swearing.
It knew that its little master Harry must have made some mistake again, which made the Dursleys unhappy!
In fact, Harry was putting on a politely puzzled expression, not knowing exactly what was going on.
Uncle Vernon had just gotten up to go to the door for a letter, delivered by the "normal" Muggle post.
Obviously, this letter is not ordinary, nor normal.
First of all, this letter is full of content that is difficult for Muggles to understand.
The envelope was still covered in postage stamps all over the place, leaving only a small square inch on the front.
There, Mrs. Weasley densely filled in the address of the Dursleys in extremely small characters.
Uncle Vernon waved the letter and yelled at Harry, "Look at this!"
Harry took the purple letter paper and roughly glanced at it.
It was a letter from Mrs. Weasley, in which she invited herself to watch the upcoming Quidditch World Cup.
And, she expects to keep herself at the Burrow for the next two weeks, until the end of summer.
It's just wonderful, it's exactly what Harry needs, a different summer life, he can't wait to leave the Dursleys' house immediately.
He wants to go back to the wizarding world and be with his friends.
They went back to watch the Quidditch World Cup final and, yes, to visit Sirius.
Harry had been worried about his injury until now.
In addition, Harry also wanted to ask Ivan personally about the adventures of the two of them during the summer vacation.
There are so many things waiting for him to do, he can't stay here
But Harry didn't lose his mind. Under Uncle Vernon's glare, he tried his best to put on a silly expression.
He told himself that as long as he didn't do stupid things or say stupid things, he would be able to participate in the once-in-a-century event.
"About that, can I go?" he asked cautiously.
Uncle Vernon's big purple face twitched slightly, and his beard stood on end.
Harry thought he could see what was going on in the brain behind the beard.
In Uncle Vernon's mind, two basic instincts clashed.
It would have pleased Harry to have Harry go to the game, something Uncle Vernon had been determined not to do for thirteen years.
On the other hand, Harry was allowed to spend the summer at the Weasleys' house.
This would get rid of Harry two weeks earlier than had been hoped, and Uncle Vernon hated Harry in his own house so much.
Uncle Vernon probably wanted to give himself some time to think, and looked down at Mrs. Weasley's letter again.
"Who is this woman?" he asked in disgust, staring fixedly at Mrs. Weasley's signature on the letter.
"You've seen her!" said Harry. "She's my friend Ron's mother, and she came to pick him up from Hogg on the school train at the end of last term."
Harry almost said "Hogwarts Express", which would surely make his uncle very angry.
In the Dursleys' house, the name of Harry's school was never mentioned aloud.
The only exception was probably the time Ivan visited during the summer vacation two years ago.
Uncle Vernon's big fat face was wrinkled, as if trying to remember a very unpleasant event.
"The fat woman?" he asked gruffly at last, "with a lot of red-haired children?"
Harry frowned. He thought it was hilarious that Uncle Vernon should call other people "chubby."
You know, his biological son, Dudley, has now turned into a fat, wide and round man.
"Quidditch?!" Uncle Vernon was reading the letter again, muttering silently, "Quidditch, what kind of crap is this?"
"It's a sport!" Harry felt annoyed again. "It's played on a broom."
"All right, all right!" cried Uncle Vernon.
Harry saw with some satisfaction that his uncle looked a little nervous.
Apparently, his nerves couldn't bear the word "broomstick" ringing in his living room.
Seeking refuge, he looked down at the letter again.
"Send your reply through normal means." He asked sharply, "What do you mean by normal means?!"
"Our normal way!" said Harry, and he went on without waiting for his uncle to stop him. "You know, sending owls to deliver messages, which is what wizards usually do."
Uncle Vernon looked utterly annoyed, as if Harry had said an outrageous expletive.
Shaking with rage, he glanced nervously at the window, as if worried that his neighbors would press their ears to the glass.
"How many times do I need to tell you not to mention these weird things in my house!" He said through gritted teeth, his face flushed purple, "You stand there wearing the clothes Petunia and I gave you, but you don't know how to be grateful !"
"Dudley gave me those clothes when he stopped wearing them!" said Harry coldly.
He had had enough, and the urge to leave the Dursleys came back.
Looking at the fat and fat tracksuit on his body, his anger rose steadily.
Harry gasped, he couldn't take it anymore.
Gone were the days when he was forced to abide by every stupid rule of the Dursleys.
He didn't follow Dudley's diet, and he didn't want Uncle Vernon to stop him from going to the Quidditch World Cup.
"My good friends Ivan, Ron, and Hermione are all going back to watch the World Cup!" Harry took a deep breath and said as calmly as possible.
"Ivan?!" Uncle Vernon's face became redder obviously, like a ripe plum, "That boy in the Mason family, I don't know, how can such a good person as Mr. Mason tolerate his son?"
The construction company run by Mr. Mason is now Uncle Vernon's biggest business partner, and he doesn't want to offend him.
Although he had a negative attitude towards Ivan, it did not prevent Harry from contacting Ivan.
No matter how you look at it, it's in his favor, and that's the only way Harry can come in handy.
He had already talked about this topic with Mr. Mason countless times, and promised Harry to take care of Ivan at school.
Uncle Vernon wavered, since the Mason kid was going to that stupid World Cup, it seemed like Harry should too
"Of course, if you don't let me go, then I can go back to my room?!" Harry stabilized his emotions, and continued, "I'm going to write to Sirius, you know, he is mine godfather."
"Are you, are you writing to him?" said Uncle Vernon, trying to keep his voice calm.
But Harry saw the pupils of his small eyes shrink suddenly with fear.
Uncle Vernon still remembered Sirius, the very dangerous escaped murderer mentioned on TV.
Before the summer vacation started, Sirius wrote them a letter.
The letter warned them not to bully Harry, otherwise the consequences would be
Seeing Uncle Vernon's expression, Harry knew that he had succeeded, and he could leave here immediately and return to the wizarding world. (To be continued.)
