Chapter 114 Yuanshi Accepts a Disciple (Part 3)
Yuanshi was so strict and almost harsh in accepting disciples. However, Tongtian, Yuanshi's brother, had a completely different attitude from Yuanshi.
Tongtian believed that the Tao follows nature, and all things in the world have the nature of Tao. In the three realms, all living beings and all things can achieve Tao. Anyone who has a heart for Tao can become his disciple.
Regardless of beauty or ugliness, good or evil, or high or low, anyone who has a heart for Tao is destined to be with him. In Tongtian's eyes, the key to becoming a Tao is whether one has a heart for Tao.
Yuanshi also somewhat agrees with Tongtian's idea, otherwise he would not have set up a test to test the heart for Tao, but his view on the heart for Tao is more demanding than Tongtian's.
Everyone has a heart for Tao, otherwise everyone would not want to cultivate immortality and become immortal. But having a heart for Tao is not enough. It is not as simple as having a heart for Tao to determine a cultivator's future. Yuanshi believes that the main factors that determine a cultivator's life are: fate, luck, heart of Tao, merit, and talent.
Without that fate, no matter how strong your heart is, you can't succeed, because you don't have that fate! Luck is equally important. Those with deep luck can go further. Those who lack luck will bump along the way and may die accidentally. How can they have the life to pursue Tao?
Three hearts of Tao, the heart of Tao here not only refers to the heart of Tao, but more importantly, it refers to the cultivator himself. If he works hard enough and has a heart for Tao, his fate can be changed and his luck can be taken away.
Merit is related to cause and effect, merit is the cause, and virtue is the result. With the protection of merit, you can go further along the way.
Talent is ranked last, because in Yuanshi's eyes, no matter how poor the talent is, he can turn it into a gifted person. Talent is a joke in Yuanshi's eyes. As long as other aspects are met, a weak talent can also become a strong one. To become a truly powerful person, talent is never what you rely on. Although talent is also a factor, it is definitely not the most important one.
Tongtian's selection criteria for disciples is the heart of Taoism. Is it really enough to have a heart of Taoism? Then why did Tongtian accept countless cultivators and claim to have thousands of immortals come to pay homage, but only a few of them could truly become powerful people in the end?
As soon as the triple test began, countless cultivators rushed forward to take the test. Although most of them knew that they could not pass, they still had a certain fluke mentality in their hearts. What if I pass? What's more, even if I don't pass, I won't suffer any loss.
"Brother, are you also going to take the disciple test set by the Holy Lord?" A scattered immortal asked a little demon beside him.
"Yes, you are going too?" said the little demon.
"Yes, brother, the test at the Tongtian Saint is the easiest. With your cultivation level, why don't you go there for the test instead of coming here?"
The immortal asked. He looked at the little demon in front of him and could see at a glance that he was only at the Lianxu Hedao realm and had not yet become an immortal. It would be difficult for him to pass the test with such cultivation level.
"Everyone knows that the Holy Lord is the first among the saints and has the strongest cultivation level. The first choice is of course the Holy Lord. If you fail, it's not too late to go to the Tongtian Saint." The little demon said without hesitation.
"Yes, the Holy Lord is indeed the strongest saint." The immortal said,
"Brother, I wish you good luck, I'm going!" After saying that, he turned into a gust of wind and flew towards the 100-level road.
Little demon: "..."
There are countless examples like this. Although most people hold a lucky attitude, most of them return disappointed in the end. There are very few who can pass the first level, not to mention the other levels.
Yuanshi did not limit the time, that is, you can come to pass the level at any time.
After a hundred years of screening, only a dozen people were able to pass the three levels. There were millions of cultivators in the prehistoric world, but only a dozen could pass the level. I really don't know how to describe this probability.
Most of the failed ones turned to Tongtian. Even so, Tongtian did not accept all of them. He also had a selective approach to accepting disciples. Otherwise, he could have become the Saint Master of the entire prehistoric world.
But even so, he accepted thousands of disciples, most of whom were registered disciples or ordinary disciples. The true disciples were still the same as before. There were dozens of core disciples below the true disciples and above the ordinary ones.
In this regard, Yuanshi was very calm. The prehistoric world never lacked talents. He was very satisfied that he could accept dozens of disciples. After all, he was going to take the elite route, and the disciples were not the number but the quality.
He received a total of seventeen disciples, among which, in addition to Guangchengzi and Yuding Zhenren, the other twelve golden immortals of the Chanjiao were also gathered. They were Wenshu Guangfa Tianzun of Wulong Mountain, Puxian Zhenren of Jiugong Mountain, Cihang Zhenren of Putuo Mountain, Jiliusun of Jialong Cave, Taiyi Zhenren of Qianyuan Mountain, Chijingzi who was originally in Taihua Mountain, but later chose Wuhua Mountain as his cave because Wanjie Demon Lord occupied it, Huanglong Zhenren of Erxian Mountain, Daoxing Zhenren of Jinting Mountain, Qingxu Daode Zhenjun of Qingfeng Mountain, and Lingbao Dafashi of Kongtong Mountain.
In addition to the twelve golden immortals, there are Yunzhongzi of Zhongnan Mountain who has good fortune and Ran Deng Taoist who has listened to Taoism in Zixiao Palace. Ran Deng himself is a good emperor, but unfortunately his luck is not very good. When Ran Deng listened to Taoism, it was the last time that the Taoist ancestor preached. He did not hear much, so he still stopped at the peak realm of Daluo Jinxian.
In addition to them, what really surprised Yuanshi was that there was a peacock and a big peng bird. Their names were Kong Xuan and Garuda. It was unexpected that they also came to learn from the master. It was really surprising.
Yuanshi thought about it and understood a little bit. The prehistoric world where he was now was different from the prehistoric world in the original trajectory. It was understandable that Kong Xuan and the big peng bird came to learn from the master.
Finally, there was another person, who was transformed by the top immortal material Dao Jie gold to open the spiritual wisdom, and was the Golden Taoist. This surprised Yuanshi again. He had never heard of this person's reputation in the original book. Logically speaking, the person who could pass his test would not be an ordinary person.
At the same time, he was somewhat relieved. This is the prehistoric world. This is a real world, and there are not only those people written in the book and recorded in the story.
Except for the two brothers Kong Xuan and the Golden Taoist, the other seventeen disciples were the original disciples in the original book. This made Yuanshi have to sigh that these people really had a fate with him. He had changed the test procedure, and these people could still be involved with him.
Looking at the seventeen disciples in front of him, there were rows of men, and only one woman, that was Cihang Taoist. She was transformed from a white lotus on Mount Putuo, just like his previous disciple Feng Xiaoyue. Yuanshi couldn't help but sigh, it was really yang-dominant and yin-weak.
At this time, he also remembered that if he followed the original trajectory, several of his disciples would have betrayed the Chan Sect and joined Buddhism. Should these people be eliminated?
But he thought about it carefully and gave up, because he knew that it was the original trajectory, and he was no longer the original Yuanshi. If so, he could still teach them away, that would be a real waste. Moreover, in the original book, they didn't want to betray the Chan Sect from the beginning. If Yuanshi in the original book wasn't too useless, why would it be like this?
In order to prevent similar situations in the future, Yuanshi formulated the following rules when they became apprentices:
First, respect the teacher!
Second, do not deviate from the teachings!
Third, the words of the Holy Lord are the truth, and the disciples have to obey!
The three sect rules state that after the disciples become disciples, they will have a cause and effect relationship with Yuanshi, and Yuanshi is the master of cause and effect. If they want to betray him in the future, they must carefully consider the backlash of cause and effect. Of course, this is only a temporary restriction. As for what will happen to them in the future, it depends on how Yuanshi teaches his disciples.
How does Yuanshi teach his disciples? This is still a question worth pondering.
