Chapter 67 The Eve of the Final Battle

Chapter 7 The Eve of the Final Battle

The soul is stirring, the soul is roaring.

Calvin's psychic shield was activated by the tide-like attack from the opposite side. The originally colorless waves also revealed their black nature under the contrast and friction of his incandescent shield.

Calvin shook the long sword in his hand, and the incandescent white psychic energy flowed all over the sword like water, and burned fiercely on the edge of the blade like flames.

The demons seemed to feel the threat, and the eyes on the tentacles opened wide and stared in the direction of Calvin.

Blood-like tears flowed from the cracked corners of these eyes, and a stronger psychic wave rushed towards Calvin like a torrent.

The steel walls in the cabin quickly decayed and aged under the impact of this corrosive force, and the several-inch-thick steel floor was decayed into a rusty black color that was unusable in an instant.

Against this tide, Calvin took two more steps. The rotten floor could not bear his huge weight. After several near misses, Calvin found the load-bearing column of the next floor and simply jumped directly from the column to the tentacles on the wall.

The tentacles, which could no longer escape, finally met their doom. Calvin, who reached the wall, raised the long sword in his hand and cut down the evil filth that tried to delay time and wait for his companions one by one.

The white-gold flames made the Valkyrie of Vengeance invincible. None of the twelve tentacles on the wall could resist the judgment from the order.

They were burned to death by the flames on the sword as soon as they were cut down. The echo of their howling before death seemed to be heard in the rapidly disappearing psychic wave in the cabin.

In Calvin's psychic vision, the remaining tentacles no longer rushed to this cabin. It seemed that they were composed of some kind of group consciousness. After losing the guidance of their companions, they lost the desire or instinct to hunt and eat.

The short battle was over, but the scene in the cabin was completely different from just now.

Calvin looked around. Except for the wall where he was standing, the rest of the walls, including the bulkheads on the ground, were all in pieces under the impact of the corrosive force.

His comrades, who were originally separated by a wall, were now standing not far away. The platform they were on became the only intact place to stay after the battle.

From a high place, this high wall representing the inner layer of the hive now had a huge wound. The mottled rust spread like a scar around the wound and spread far and wide.

The originally sturdy supporting columns under the platform were covered with rust at least half of the structure under the previous impact, and the loss of its internal structural strength would only be greater than what was revealed on the outside.

After losing this important supporting structure, it would undoubtedly be unwise to rely solely on the strength of the direct ladder on the platform to bear the inhuman weight of the Grey Knights and the weight of the power armor.

Calvin carefully jumped over the load-bearing column exposed under the cabin and came to the original position of the hatch. He stuck his head out to look at the scenery above and below the breach and said to his comrades:

"These tentacles are definitely not its body. I have a hunch that we will see it at the final destination. Let's go while we can still hold on to this platform. The rest of the way should not be far away."

The Grey Knights nodded, and no one questioned Calvin's battle just now.

The Terminators, sharing the thought channel, empathized with Calvin's emotions to a certain extent, and they vaguely understood the meaning behind these tentacles.

The Interceptor brothers simply thought that Calvin was covering their retreat, and the dead Astartes made them understand that the other party's power was so special.

So much so that under the unexpected situation, more than two teams of Astartes also died here.

As for the final beheading, it was indeed a last resort. After all, under that level of psychic impact, the entire team could not escape without dealing with the other party.

The road ahead was cut off. The entrance originally planned was now occupied by the tentacles rooted in the entire hive building, and the rituals that might exist on the top floor of the hive told the Grey Knights that their time was so tight.

They had no choice. Seizing every moment to reach the top floor of the hive was their most urgent goal.

Calvin did not hesitate any longer. He called up the downloaded map information from the data terminal in the Terminator power armor he was wearing.

After simply flipping the map twice, he said to his comrades around him:

"We move horizontally and reach the energy supply pipeline first, from where we enter the pipeline."

"Where can we get to the top floor?" Garituli, the arbitrator of the Grey Knight Interceptor, asked him.

"Yes, there is also a passage to the top floor, but the entire pipeline is usually filled with high-temperature airflow, and it can only be passed when the heating engine is maintained. These things definitely appeared before the hive energy supply failed, so the high temperature that had been maintained there before would make them instinctively refuse to grow there." Calvin answered firmly.

The Grey Knights who had reached a consensus did not delay any longer. They walked towards the mezzanine maintenance ladder in parallel through the pipes on the wall with a clear goal.

The road to the energy pipeline was not far away. In fact, in any building with a huge permanent population like a nest, from the perspective of the entire building design and construction at the beginning of construction, the investment in basic supporting equipment for water supply and heating to ensure basic living standards accounted for the largest proportion of all projects.

Following the red heating branch pipeline under their feet, Calvin and his party soon arrived at the heating node on the upper level of the nest.

In the maintenance room next to the huge secondary pressurization device of the heating node, Calvin got the specific location to enter the pipeline.

There was no time to find the corresponding key, and the locked door on the heating pipeline was rudely torn open by Calvin.

A group of people entered one after another, standing on the suspended workbench in a circle, and they could see that the dry and smooth pipe wall inside the pipe also confirmed Calvin's previous judgment.

The small elevator for maintenance was parked quietly at the door. Due to the working environment, the power supply of the elevator was independent of other equipment, which also made the elevator directly available without adjustment when the heating of the entire nest failed.

The space of the elevator was too small, and the load designed for mortals also made the Grey Knights only able to ride three people at a time.

Calvin took the lead and walked in. The narrow remaining space in the elevator could barely accommodate another Grey Knight, but the Grey Knights stopped their steps in consideration of the load of this elevator and leaving enough space for possible battles.

They silently watched their commander open up the way for the whole team and waited to meet him later.

Amid the friction between hinges and steel cables, Calvin quickly reached the end.

In his psychic vision, the surrounding environment was still calm. He could not wait to walk out of the elevator as soon as the hatch opened, and after walking out of the heating pipe, he stood in the open space at the entrance of the pump station to guard his brothers who were about to arrive.

There was only the last section of the road left, and the enemies ahead were unknown.

While waiting for the elevator to return, Calvin prayed to the Emperor far away on Terra.
