Chapter 16: The Empire's Frontier: The Battle of the Lower Nest
The fire of guns and the burning red light of laser guns echoed each other, and countless physical bullets and light bullets flew against each other. These deadly weapons, which originated from the most primitive killing instinct deep in human genes, danced in this abandoned factory of Low Nest deep underground. This is the melody and dance of death.
The two waves of gang members in Low Nest vented their firepower on each other. These terrible weapons that were created to be used against the enemy of mankind are now, most of the time, against each other.
Not long after the birth of human civilization, when we were still apes, the first ape used stones and animal bones to create the first weapon, and human civilization has been keen to use these creations against each other.
This is not strange, is it? Whether on Earth or after heading into the starry sky, in most cases, the harsh environment and cruel beasts are not as cunning and good at using tools and strategies as human compatriots, especially in such places where there are only people.
Vito leaned against a steel support column, which had been hit by several large bullet holes. Physical bullets and laser beams kept bombarding around him, but Vito did not panic at all.
He just stood calmly among the corpses. There were already several corpses lying in this corridor. Most of them were either smoking after being shot by laser guns or bloody after being blown up by physical bullets.
In the main hall of the factory below, the irritable members of the Hammer Gang were operating the logging machine guns with a kind of beast-like war cry, and in an irrational and crazy way, they were facing the members of the Pious Society hiding behind the abandoned lathes and mechanical creations on the other side of the hall.
Vito raised his eyebrows and watched the heavy logging gun smash a walking robot that had not yet been equipped with armored panels, and the members of the Pious Society hiding behind it began to flee.
Although these poor guys had not run a few steps, they were beaten into a hornet's nest by the subsequent artillery fire and laser guns.
Vito touched his chin and looked at the chaotic battlefield. He was sure that if the guys from the Mechanicus were here, they would have rushed in with laser rifles, cursing the heretic bastards who blasphemed the machine soul.
"It seems that I have ignited the underground war." He touched his chin and looked around the battlefield, looking for an opportunity.
And with the blessing of the Emperor, he soon found it.
The believers of the Pious Society moved back and forth between bunkers, but the Hammer Gang obviously had more heavy weapons and kept bombarding the members of the Pious Society. They were beaten quite badly.
One of the guys was suppressed behind a broken machine. He seemed to have been shot and covered his bloody arm.
And not far away, there was another member of the Pious Society who was trying to break through to rescue him, although he himself was suppressed and could not move.
But from the results, he was probably the boss of a certain Pious Society, although it was not known whether he had a brain twitch and rushed directly into the factory controlled by the Hammer Gang.
Or maybe these guys are too pious, because the shrine was burned to the point of fanaticism by a heretic.
Vito stood up and took out a strange small instrument from his waist, which looked like some kind of small thing from the imperial folk.
On the black and gray streamer shell was a logo of the Mechanicus. Vito shrugged helplessly, "You have to let everyone know that those things were made by you, Father Omega."
Vito used a scanner to scan the arm of a corpse of the Pious Society nearby. The blue fluorescent beam passed through the surface of the coiled snake tattoo. Vito buckled it on his arm and in the blink of an eye, he got an identical tattoo.
Vito looked at the logo, snorted jokingly, then threw the small machine on the ground, pulled out the grenade gun and aimed it at the thing, "Sorry, Lao Ou."
Gunshots rang out, mechanical fragments flew, Vito squatted down, looked at the corpse and the surrounding corpses, there was a small golden olive logo under the coiled snake logo on their arms, which was slightly different from the coiled snake logo he had seen before.
Maybe it's to distinguish the branches of the same gang? Well, at least the Space Marines like to use this method to distinguish the company.
"Emperor, you." A weak voice said, Vito looked over, and it turned out that the body leaning against the iron gate was not a body, but a weak and unconscious gang member?
Vito walked in front of him and leaned down. The latter looked at Vito weakly, with some confusion in his eyes, "Are you from our gang? Someone under Mo Wen? I don't know you."
"I just joined the gang, man, of course you don't know me, and I didn't expect it to be so exciting as soon as I joined the gang."
"Emperor, this is an idiotic action, damn it, all our gang members are dead, only you and me are left." He said weakly, "Boss Mo Wen is dead, you must go to warn."
He looked at Vito and stood up, smiling, "Correct a mistake you made, friend, there is only one left."
Vito raised the gun and pointed it at his head. In the latter's surprise, Vito pulled the trigger.
Gunshots rang out, and now there was only one survivor left in the Morven branch.
Vito grabbed a laser gun from the ground and put it on his back. He stretched his arms, then suddenly turned around and jumped out of the corridor handrail.
Vito ran on a pipe, and the grenade launcher in his hand began to roar. The bullet spewed out from the muzzle with flames, and almost immediately smashed a head.
Vito jumped down from the pipe on the right side of the main hall and jumped into a position of the Hammer Gang. Everyone immediately turned to look at Vito, but obviously, their nerve reflexes were not as fast as the Inquisitor.
Vito started the killing dance almost immediately, and the bullets kept booming, smashing heads and bodies one by one.
The Hammer Gang members began to fire fiercely at Vito, but his speed was very fast, so fast that it was incredible.
Vito moved quickly, and he rushed to the gang member holding the shotgun at lightning speed, and fired directly from his chin with a grenade gun, smashing half of his face into mud.
Vito grabbed the falling shotgun, raised his hand and fired again, and a gang member at close range beside him flew out, and then Vito rolled to avoid a burst of light bullets, and after a few rolls, he stood up on one knee and fired another shot, and the unlucky guy with the laser gun fell directly out of the bunker.
The suppressed member of the Pious Society popped his head out and looked at the chaotic direction. He couldn't see what was happening inside, but could only hear a burst of gunfire and screams.
He was surprised to see a man jump out from behind the bunker and dance on the roadblocks like an actor in a theater, firing casually while dancing.
He disappeared from time to time, and suddenly appeared from time to time, just like a ghost on the battlefield.
Vito jumped up, landed after a spin, pulled out a steel pipe from the abandoned machinery, and knocked down a member of the Hammer Gang.
At the other end of the bunker, the shooter operating the heavy logging gun cursed with the most rude words, turned the muzzle and poured fire in Vito's direction.
Vito rolled back to avoid the first shot, and then rushed to a solid bunker at a fast pace, with heavy bullets exploding and flying behind him.
After Vito hid in a truck that didn't even have wheels installed, the logging gun hit the car body violently, smashing it to pieces.
The young member of the Pious Society did not hesitate, grabbed the laser gun in his hand and aimed and fired. The fire of the laser gun cut through the air and instantly passed through the entire hall space, burning a hole in the gunman's head.
The suppressive firepower stopped, and at this moment, Vito stood up, aimed the earthen rocket launcher found from nowhere at the machine gunner, and pulled the trigger that could explode at any time.
The rocket flew past with a whistle, instantly evaporating the entire shooting position.
Vito threw away the rocket launcher, jumped out of the position of the Hammer Gang and ran back. The young member of the Pious Society kept shooting with the laser gun.
He killed several enemies.
Soon, in a furious curse and roar, several strong men of the Hammer Gang pushed a heavy laser that was removed from the Chimera onto a preaching platform.
One of the strong men immediately jumped into the design control position and began to roar the silent terrifying machine spirit, instantly killing a whole row of Pious Society members.
The bunker they were in was like paper, and the young member looked at the dazzling red light of the cannon and shouted, "You better hurry up, man!"
He continued to raise the laser gun and shoot. He tried to snipe the laser gun shooter, but the gun shield blocked all the laser beams, which attracted his attention.
The young man looked at the laser beam aimed at him in surprise, but he was lucky because Vito flew up and knocked him down. The laser cannon passed over their heads and instantly shattered countless mechanical components.
"Go!" Vito shouted, pulling the young man up and running together under the hot red light of the laser cannon. The fragments above their heads flew across, and the laser beam almost turned into another straight line, cutting everything they saw.
Vito dragged the young man into the gang boss's hideout. The injured boss used his only remaining arm to grab the young member and pulled him to his side, which was why he was able to avoid having his legs shattered.
The three hid behind the bunker, red light flashed from time to time around them, and the high temperature of the laser was getting closer and closer. It seemed that the bunker would not last long.
"Emperor! This is a stupid plan, Marshall, you are right, I should." The boss groaned.
The young Marshall leaned against the boss with a gun, "Don't say that, boss, in the name of the Emperor, you tried your best to persuade that idiot Luft, and that idiot has paid the price for his stupidity."
"Although we all paid the price together." The young man said, retracting his elbow to avoid being burned by the laser, and the boss looked at Vito, looking at the young man, and saw the tattoo on his arm.
"Mo Wen's men? Kid, is Mo Wen still alive?" "No, I think he's dead. Luft asked us to help, but... well, it looks like I'm the only one left in my gang."
"That idiot, he not only caused us heavy losses, but also killed brothers of faith from other gangs! Gods be upon him! He must die!"
The boss cursed, but the machine gunner seemed to have changed direction and focused his attention elsewhere. Vito popped his head out and looked at him, "Curse him later, brother Marshall, help the boss get out."
Marshall nodded affirmatively, put on his laser gun and helped the boss to evacuate to one side, while Vito stood up and looked at the roaring heavy laser gun and took off the laser gun on his back.
Vito set up the laser gun on the broken bunker, Vito's eyes pointed at the laser cannon from the aiming slot, his breathing was extremely calm, and his fingers were firmly on the trigger.
One shot, only one shot.
Vito took a long breath, his finger on the trigger, and then pulled the trigger between the next heartbeat.
The light bullet streaked across the battlefield, and one shot accurately flew through the gap between the gun shield and the muzzle, and shot through the shooter's head.
The people around were extremely surprised, and then another person was shot in the head by Vito, the third, the fourth, and the rest of the people fled from the laser cannon in a panic and got into the nearest bunker they could find.
Vito picked up the laser gun and smiled at the Imperial Skyhawk on the broken machine, "Thank you."
