Chapter 1526 The Forgotten Red Army Soldiers (Part 2)

Now that I have lost my team and cannot go home, I am even more unwilling to lay down my arms and surrender to the Germans.

Who wants to be a dog for the invaders who invaded their own country unless it is absolutely necessary? Even if you have no cultural level and do not understand the truth, this basic common sense of being a human being can still be understood by most people.

This cannot be done, and you don’t want to do that, so what should you do?

You can’t just wander around in the enemy-occupied area like a lone wolf with a gun in your hand, right? To survive, you must have enough food, a job, and an organization to unite with and serve as a backer. The reality of living in the enemy-occupied area is so real.

For this kind of forgotten Red Army soldiers, there are two practical options.

One is to walk around in the enemy-occupied area more, risk being reported by pro-German Ukrainian locals to inquire about the whereabouts of the guerrillas, join the guerrillas, and continue to fight the enemy with like-minded lost and forgotten comrades.

In the beginning, many Red Army soldiers did this, but as mentioned above, the biggest problem with this is that you don't know whether the person you are asking for directions to is a German lackey.

Maybe you have just asked him for directions, thanked him and left, and he will run to the German to complain and claim the reward. Then you will wait for the SS pursuit team with German Shepherds to chase you. No matter how fast you run, you will be caught up by the SS bastards guided by their noses. This happened almost every day in the first year of the Red Army's withdrawal.

Similar things happened more and more, and the remaining "wait and see" Red Army soldiers who were left alone and forgotten naturally retreated, dared not to ask about the whereabouts of the guerrillas casually, and dared not to appear in front of people and talk to strangers casually. They could only use their own skills and the weapons in their hands to live a wild life of eating raw meat and drinking blood to avoid being seen.

But if you do this for a long time, it won't work. You will get sick, feel lonely, and long to talk to people. After a long time, you may even have thoughts such as world-weariness and the end of your life.

Not all Red Army soldiers are wild survival tough guys like Bear Grylls. They can survive the life of sleeping in the open air and eating raw meat for a short time, but in the long run, they still need to find a backer.

At this time, the smart leaders of the local Ukrainian bandit army stood up, and even often sent people to go out hunting and get meat to see if there were any lone Red Army soldiers in the wild.

These smart bandit army leaders adopted the strategy of "recruiting" the lone Red Army: as long as you are willing to follow us, we don't ask about the past, and we don't care what you have done before.

Come to us and you will be fed three meals a day. Every now and then, you can touch the Germans' butts, attack outposts or rob German transport convoys. Bombing the railway and robbing the Germans' freight trains is also possible. This is the most exciting and the biggest ticket! The money is so good!

Don't doubt our equipment strength, we have all kinds of light and heavy weapons here.

Anti-tank guns, heavy machine guns, mortars, everything you want, no junk produced by local workshops, all Soviet and German regular army standard equipment, you can pick whatever you like! As long as the German train doesn't have a tank turret, it doesn't matter if there are machine gun fire points with steel plates on his train, a few rounds of anti-tank guns will knock him down!

Then you can pick whatever you want in the train! Take as much as you can, as long as you have the ability to take it away, maybe you can catch a beautiful German woman to make everyone happy in turn, everything is possible! People always have to be optimistic and look forward.

To be honest, after people have been living in the wind and rain for a long time, and have experienced the extreme loneliness and the feeling of being alone and helpless. Suddenly faced with such attractive conditions and a good life, I am afraid that most of the forgotten Red Army soldiers will choose to follow these Ukrainian bandits who are offering them an olive branch.

After all, people's yearning for a better life comes from instinct, and for a group of forgotten Red Army soldiers, living as much as possible according to their true wishes is more important than oaths and loyalty. If not, you may die tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, just like that.

Recruiting these forgotten Red Army soldiers to join the team is indeed effective. These surviving veterans who have received formal military training and have been on the battlefield have excellent skills and qualities. Compared with the ordinary civilians and hooligans in the bandit army, they are not at the same level at all. Their combat power is awesome and there is nothing to say.

Gradually, the argument that whoever has more Red Army veterans under his command has greater power and strength began to spread among the Ukrainian bandits. Several well-known bandit army bosses actually began to compete with each other to see who has the most veterans, using this as a key item for ranking seniority and competing for strength.

Of course, the leaders of the Ukrainian bandit army took the trouble to recruit these forgotten Red Army soldiers, and they certainly didn't do it just to brag and do nothing.

It started gradually in 1941, increased in number in 1942, reached its peak in 1943 when the German army began to decline, and reached a new high in 1944, which made the Germans, who were already beaten badly by the Red Army, even more headache.

Here we are talking about the number of times these Ukrainian bandits attacked the German logistics convoys and freight trains, not anything else.

For the German army, which was in a mess, it was not only a headache to face the harassment of the guerrillas and the Ukrainian bandit army, but more importantly, the number and equipment of these small groups of enemies were getting stronger and stronger.

Just a little earlier, in the winter of early 1944, the German army thought that adding two dismantled No. 4 turrets to the military train would be foolproof.

This freight train was loaded with high-calorie finished military rations, medicines, and a batch of thickened winter uniforms for replacement, which were extremely important to the German frontline troops. Each of them was the most needed and life-saving thing for the German frontline troops.

However, the German high-ranking officials who thought that they could rest assured by installing two No. 4 turrets and half a company of escort soldiers were once again ruthlessly slapped in the face by reality. They thought too much.

A group of the largest bandit army in the Cherkassy area, code-named "Jackal" by the German army, ambushed the military train.

They buried explosives in advance to blow up the railway, and when the military train was forced to stop to avoid derailment, the Wehrmacht soldiers escorting the train got off the train to check the situation and prepare to report to the higher authorities, they suddenly launched an attack.

The firepower of these crazy people is simply outrageous and beyond imagination! The entire train, which was escorted by half a company of Wehrmacht soldiers, was slaughtered in less than fifteen minutes with the help of the firepower points and bunkers of the train.

The German army that came to investigate afterwards made an astonishing discovery. The on-site situation showed that the Ukrainian bandits had been preparing for this desolate ambush site for at least a week. This was a premeditated ambush that had been "prepared" in advance.

The heavy snow in recent days caused the German patrol team, which did not often come to this place, to not come here for almost half a month and did not carry out any patrols. The annoying situation of neglecting precautions gave the Ukrainian bandits an opportunity to take advantage of it.

The bandits dismantled the two PAK38 50mm anti-tank guns that had been prepared long ago into parts and transported them in batches. In the harsh earthwork environment with a permafrost layer of more than three meters thick, they dug out a complete anti-tank gun bunker. Then they used white camouflage cloth to conceal the reassembled anti-tank guns, which were difficult to find without a close look.

Everything seemed so regular and impeccable, as if the ambushing of the German train was actually a group of Red Army soldiers rather than Ukrainian bandits.

In the end, it was the two PAK 38s that attacked in secret and fired first that solved the two No. 4 turrets on the train that were ambushed before they could react.

The vertical armor on the German tanks was simply weak in front of the anti-tank guns they made. Especially against the T34, the Type 40 tungsten core armor-piercing shells that could only ricochet, ricochet, and ricochet again, the vertical armor of the No. 4 turret was really easy to explode, which was obviously very ironic.
