Chapter 4 Murder
Benson walked to the position in front of Xing Ze without any hesitation. He sighed a few times and put his hat on his leg, but the exquisite cane was moved to the other leg.
That little move did not escape Xing Ze's eyes. After he walked away, Benson said: "Mr. Xing Ze..."
"Just call him Xing Ze, no need to be so polite."
"Okay, if you don't mind. Then, Xing Ze, as for what you just said, he doesn't agree, and he doesn't think everyone is hostile to us."
"Really?"
Xing Ze was deeply skeptical about this. From his memory, he didn't live well in that world.
Magic Maintenance Department? Oh, come on, that's a department with almost no sense of existence. Before Xing Ze entered, the youngest employee was almost fifty years old.
What's more, the monthly salary of forty galleons is lower than that of other people in the same department, and even much lower than that of new employees in other departments.
God knows how he worked diligently for three years in such an environment in that world.
What's more, he accepted a secret mission from the Department of Mysteries without thinking - to monitor Hogwarts and Dumbledore.
The British Ministry of Magic and Dumbledore have been grudges for a long time, which is a well-known fact.
Long before Grindelwald's uprising, the Ministry of Magic began to send people to monitor Dumbledore. On the one hand, it could investigate the relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald, and on the other hand, it could prevent Dumbledore and Grindelwald from joining forces.
The famous wizard is like an extremely unstable nuclear bomb to the British Ministry of Magic. People will always be hostile and suspicious of such a power that cannot be fully controlled.
The main reason is probably fear. The World Magic Committee does not want to see another Grindelwald.
Therefore, after the first Dark Lord was sent to prison, Dumbledore's good period was over, and the Department of Mysteries formed a secret team to secretly monitor the world's number one wizard.
As for why Xing Ze, who is not even an Auror, was sent to monitor, the Department of Mysteries did not give a clear answer.
That was a purely suicidal mission. Not to mention Dumbledore's superb Legilimency, the old wizard's rich experience in dealing with the world was enough to see through Xing Ze's little thoughts.
Moreover, the teachers at Hogwarts were also full of hidden talents, especially the professor of potions who wanted to use a bottle of truth serum on anyone.
A light cough interrupted Xing Ze's thoughts, and he raised his eyes and looked at the old man in front of him.
"You are in a daze, sir." Benson said, his face still wearing that polite smile.
Xing Ze nodded generously and stretched his legs to wipe the mist off the window glass, "He is not used to taking the train, and not in that kind of weather."
The snow outside was disturbingly heavy. Although it was not yet six o'clock, the sky was dark and the visibility was very low.
"The weather is indeed abnormal." Benson agreed, "But what's more abnormal is that they have lost contact with the outside world."
"What did I say? Lost contact? What does that mean?"
Benson stretched his legs and adjusted his walking posture, "The magic telegraph has lost its signal, and the only door key of the train can't be used, plus the blizzard..."
He didn't continue talking, because from Xingze's expression, the young man obviously realized the seriousness of the situation.
"It's worse than he thought." Xingze sighed. He had expected that something must have happened to the train, but he didn't expect it to be so serious.
If the train can't travel to New Ravenska Village, then I'm afraid they will be trapped in the blizzard.
Benson looked at Xingze meaningfully, and he felt that the young man in front of him seemed to know something.
"Can't we try a weather spell?"
The old gentleman took a deep breath, "Almost no one can change a blizzard of this scale. If they can contact the main station and Hogwarts, there is some hope."
Xing Ze quietly touched his leg to his wand, and then asked: "Then, old man, why do you want to tell him such important information?"
"Haha, young man, there are only two endings." Benson put away his smile, "I am the source of all the strange phenomena, or I am just a small employee of the Ministry of Magic."
Xing Ze tightened the wand in his leg, "So I think he believes the former rather than the latter?"
"He is more willing to believe that I believe the latter. Tell him, young man, if I really haven't been to other carriages, how can I notice the abnormality of the train?"
It's not right to say that he noticed it from the incident of being poisoned. Xing Ze thought for a moment and said, "Mrs. Rebecca, she came before, and he felt that her look and tone were a little strange."
"Only relying on that?"
"Believe it or not, old man."
Benson's face was uncertain, and he was considering whether to trust the young man.
The silence lasted for a long time, until the old gentleman's face brought back that smile.
"Okay, he believes me for the time being."
Xing Ze exhaled a long breath, and the tense atmosphere in the carriage made people a little breathless.
"But he is very honored to have my trust."
"Oh no, young man, don't be too happy too early." Benson stood up and straightened his clothes, "From now on, I have to follow him, they need all the legs."
"Can..."
"No, don't refuse him, I said I am willing to help, they are all people from the Ministry of Magic."
Damn old fox. Xing Ze cursed in his heart, he simply packed up Dong, picked up his briefcase and followed Benson out of the car.
"Where are they going?" Xing Ze asked.
"To the 4-A compartment, he has something to let me see."
A moment later, the two came to the 4-A compartment, and the scene in front of them made Xing Ze's heart sink.
The compartment was in a mess, and a bloated middle-aged man collapsed on the seat. His face was pale and his lips were black, obviously dead.
"Before Dong sees the body, I'd better remind him."
Benson leaned on his legs and replied without apology: "Don't be so hypocritical, Xing Ze, it might be from my legs."
"I'm kidding, old man!" Xing Ze glared at Benson, "Poisoned to death?"
"No, poisoned, spider kiss, an undetectable poison."
Undetectable poison? Xing Ze searched for information about this name in his memory.
He remembered that when he was studying at Hogwarts in that world, Professor Snape had asked them to write a paper on unpredictable poisons.
Spider's Kiss is one of the unpredictable poisons. There is very little information about it, and there are many different opinions on how to make it.
The only thing that can be confirmed is that the poison needs to be boiled for at least three months, and the success rate is terribly low, so it is extremely precious.
"Where is the source of the poison?"
Benson did not answer, but stretched his legs and pointed to the glass of wine on the dining table.
