Chapter 134 New Semester
The first thing Xing Ze did after school started was to find Clara Foy, the innocent and kind rune teacher who was the most ideal translator he could find.
The two agreed to meet in the cafeteria during the lunch break.
"Oh, you're here so early, sir." Foy sat opposite Xing Ze. She ordered a lot of things from the menu, which was probably enough for two meals for Xing Ze.
"I don't have classes during the day. Don't use honorifics to me, Miss Foy, it feels weird."
"Oh, okay." Foy's face was full of smiles, and the girl's thoughts were almost written on her face.
"How was Christmas?" Xing Ze said politely.
Unexpectedly, Foy talked about her Christmas trip seriously, and didn't mean to stop until the lunch she ordered came.
Xing Ze had to interrupt her while she was drinking: "Miss Foy, I..."
"Just call me Clara. Oh, you know? There are two Santa Clauses, one is Saint Nicholas, the other is Krampus..."
Xing Ze patiently listened to the stories of the two Santa Clauses, and then found the right time to interrupt again: "Miss Foy, I want to trouble you with something."
The cheerful girl raised her head, swallowed the bread in her mouth, and said: "Of course, I am happy to help. Well, I mean, as long as I can do it. You know, I am always..."
"No, no, don't look down on yourself." Xing Ze smiled, "Let's get back to the topic. I want you to help translate a document. I think it should be written in runes."
"Well, it's not difficult. Can you let me see the document?"
Xing Ze took out the transcribed copy from the ring. After he went back, he looked through Benson's notes. Only those pages in the entire notebook were written in runes.
Fuyi reached out her hand, but realized that she had just taken the bread, so she retracted it. She quickly and skillfully wiped it on her robe before taking the copy.
"I copied it down, it's more convenient, I hope you don't mind."
"No, no, when..." The girl's voice gradually became softer, and she seemed to have changed into a different person, and began to check the copy carefully.
Not long after, she said to herself in surprise: "This is not a rune."
"Huh?" Xing Ze put down the cup in his hand uneasily.
Fuyi raised his head and explained: "No, I mean this is runes, to be exact, ancient Fessac, the oldest runes. And now, we are learning post-Fessac."
Xing Ze was confused, and asked puzzledly: "So... can it be translated?"
The girl lowered her head to look at the copy again, and muttered to herself again: "The grammar and alphabetical order are very different. Well - I need a big dictionary of ancient runes, and maybe a comparison table of ancient Fessac..."
She muttered like this for a long time, then raised her head and replied: "It should be no problem, but it will take some time."
"How long will it take at the latest?"
"One week, oh no, two weeks. I have to translate them into English."
Xing Ze nodded. It was indeed a bit long, but it was worth waiting. This time allowed Edwin to decipher the contents of the notebook first.
"If it's too much trouble..."
"Not at all." Foy said as he stuffed the copy into his shoulder bag, "But if the translation is done, you have to treat me to a meal."
Looking at the food piled on the table, Xing Ze forced a smile and said, "Of course. Foy... No, Clara, this is between us, so..."
"Oh, I understand." The girl blinked and whispered, "Keep it secret, right? Just like Gilderoy Lockhart's "Traveling with Vampires."
"Uh, that's about right." Xing Ze reluctantly agreed. He had no idea what the book was about.
"I hope I didn't disturb you, both of you." The familiar voice made Xing Ze's heart tighten. Ellie Shafik stood silently in front of the table.
She wore a violet robe today, and a gray and white fur coat on the outside.
"Of course not." Foy fell backwards in shock, "Miss Sha... Shafik."
"Good afternoon, Miss Foy." Ellie greeted her in a friendly manner, then turned her head to look at Xing Ze.
"You can see your impatience with me from your face, Xing Ze."
"Really?" Xing Ze forced a smile. Since the last time he met Albert, he has been avoiding Ellie as much as possible to avoid getting into trouble.
Ellie ignored Xing Ze's fake smile and asked Clara, "Can I sit here?"
"Of course... Miss." Clara stood up and wanted to give up her seat.
"Sit down, Miss Foy." Ellie stretched out her hand to stop her, "I'll ask them to bring another chair. Compared to some men who don't have gentlemanly manners, you can be called a role model."
Xing Ze shrugged his shoulders, looking helpless.
The house elf in the cafeteria brought a cushioned chair to the eldest lady and respectfully asked her what she wanted.
Ellie ordered two of the most expensive Opera, and gave one to Clara. The girl was flattered and pushed her bread aside calmly.
"I don't know what terms my father and you have reached." Ellie sat down gracefully and leaned back in the chair, "But I have to thank you, at least he is not so opposed to my investigation."
"Maybe it's just your father who changed his mind."
Ellie chuckled lightly, "I know my father. Like most people living in the wizarding world, he is old-fashioned, stubborn, and conservative. Oh, don't take it to heart, Miss Foy, I won't talk about you again."
Clara nodded bewilderedly, as if she had met her idol's fan girl, dazedly
"Except when he argued with my mother, he rarely changed his mind." Ellie finished her sentence.
"Okay." Xing Ze avoided eye contact, "Why did you come to me?"
"It's nothing, I just came to say hello." Ellie said, "After all, in the new semester, we may have more cooperation."
The dessert served by the house elf saved Xing Ze's life. He drank the last sip of tea and stood up in a hurry: "I remember that Professor Bubaji still needs my help with some things. I'm sorry I can't accompany you anymore. Clara, I’m waiting for your good news.”
"Oh, of course, sir." Clara woke up from a dream, and she awkwardly retracted her gaze from Ellie.
When Xing Ze walked away, Ai Li looked at Clara with interest. Her amber eyes made the girl dare not look directly.
"Let's enjoy dessert, Miss Foy." Ellie said softly, "By the way, you can tell me what he wants you to do."
