Chapter 2596 Fei Qian’s Learning
When Liu Xie and Boss Cao received an "unexpected blessing", Fei Qian also welcomed his "Learner" here.
That's right, it's not the Han people who come to "learn the scriptures", but other people who come to Chang'an to "learn the scriptures".
Moreover, this scripture is not a Buddhist scripture, but a Taoist scripture.
It seems that Feiqian did a good job in promoting the Five Directions God Sect, at least in the snow area, and then attracted a large number of people in the snow area to believe in it, but not everyone went to the snow area. They can all be as intelligent as Xuanzang, but many Taoist scriptures are actually very vague in content, and there is no very accurate explanation. There may even be situations where the content of what this preacher and that preacher say is contradictory.
This is just like the early spread of Buddhism in China. At first there was only one kind, and then it became many kinds. Then some of these many kinds even seemed to be completely different except for worshiping the same Buddha. .
When Fei Qian learned that someone came to seek Buddhist scriptures, he was also very surprised and decided to make arrangements. After all, Fei Qian still had the name of a real person hanging on his head...
"Gongda sent people to contact these people," Fei Qian looked at the text of Xun You's report on the table, and then said, "I have a general understanding... Well, please Gongda explain it to you... …』
Xun You cupped his hands and said, "There were originally ten to five envoys seeking scriptures this time. However, two of them stumbled and fell to their deaths on the way. Three of them were ill and could not recover. Three of them went crazy and talked wildly on the way. They met thieves again in front of the Xiaochuan River and four were killed." When they arrived at Longyou, there were only three people left. The Longyou Post initially thought they were refugees and barbarians, and led them to provide food and clothing. After questioning them, they found out what happened and then forwarded the report to Chang'an..."
Feiqian has a designated farming policy, and there are rewards and merits for recruiting refugees and savages to settle down, so they will take the initiative to recruit these people at the post barracks on the edge of Feiqian's territory. After all, in history, those who killed some savages on the frontier and took credit for their heads were actually not a minority.
This is how conflicts sometimes arise.
If Feiqian did not have such relevant policies, or if these policies were not as simple or effective as beheading when implemented, then these people who came from afar would originally be like "Xuan Zang in the Snow District" The ascetic was caught and beheaded, so will there be a next time?
In this way, how can the fire of Chinese civilization be passed on?
Do you really think that cultural communication is like that in games, where you leave it alone and watch the colors slowly penetrate?
"You're still in Longyou, haven't you set off yet?" Fei Qian asked.
Xun You nodded, "The messenger is weak and needs to recover for a few days." 』
Fei Qian nodded, "Let Wenhe send a doctor there... In addition, send a few more smart people to learn their language..."
Xun You said he remembered it.
Fei Qian motioned for Xun You to continue.
Xun You continued to introduce to everyone: "This envoy from the snow area came out along the path of General Wenyuan's advance..."
Xun You pointed on the map and recounted some information he got from the envoys, while Fei Qian listened, and his thoughts began to wander.
The pilgrims from the snowy areas, um, ascetic monks, take the northern route, that is, the Xining route.
In fact, there were many roads into the snow area in ancient times. The southern route, one is from Sichuan and Sichuan, and the other is from Yunnan. The Sichuan-Sichuan Line is relatively early, and the road is relatively rugged. It is basically climbing and descending. However, the climate is relatively mild, and the reason why it is difficult to walk is the mountains. The Yunnan Line is similar to the Sichuan-Sichuan Line. It also climbs mountains. It is not yet fully formed. It is a little closer than the Sichuan-Sichuan Line. However, the problem is that it is not actually close from Chang'an to Yunnan, that is, south of Jianning. The only way is to take the Yunnan Line from Jiaozhi. It's more cost-effective.
The biggest problem of the northern line, that is, the Xining line, is not the mountain climbing, because when you get to Longyou, the altitude is actually not much different from the snow area. When you get to Qinghai Lake and go south, there are not too many mountains to climb. Instead, we have to pass through many no-man’s lands...
In fact, further north on the Xining line, there is another route known as the most difficult route in China, which leads directly from the Western Region to the snow area. This route does not have to climb as many mountains as the southwest route, but there are much more uninhabited areas than the Xining route...
Xining Line is also known as Tangbo Road.
Princess Wencheng walked this line in history.
So how long does it take to take this route?
A smile appeared on Fei Qian's face. Others thought he sounded happy, but in fact Fei Qian thought of a funny incident about Princess Wencheng...
A very interesting "Princess Wencheng's Camera Obscura" incident, or rather a rumor, because some people say that Princess Wencheng entered Tibet and left for one year, some said that she left for two years, and some said that she left for three years...
The three-year version is accompanied by a story about the affair between Princess Wencheng and Songtsan Gambo's subordinate Ludongzan...
This is related to Songtsan Gambo's hat. What color is it?
Normally, this Tang-Tibet Road only takes about one year to walk, but it ended up being three years. Where did you go for two of them? Didn't they have children after having an affair? Princess Wencheng and Ludongzan ran away and gave birth to each other. Songtsen Gampo wore a green hat and spent two years to find the two of them, and then he said generously that it was nothing. Isn’t it true that those who can’t bear children are still being held and raised? Blood relationship didn't matter, so in the end the three of them lived together happily.
Legends and stories are stories, don’t treat stories as history.
What's more, there are also tricks in the history books...
At the same time, there is also a legend in the snow area. It is said that at that time, Lu Dongzan went to the Tang Dynasty to propose marriage, and the stingy Li Shimin made things difficult for him. Then Lu Dongzan solved it perfectly with Songtsen Gampo's "three tips". Li Shimin made things difficult for him. When Li Shimin asked a question, he took a tip bag, then asked another question, and then took another one...
Does it feel like a different kind of familiarity?
This story of "three tips" was used exactly the same by Princess Chizun of Nepal. The only difference is that the marriage seeker was replaced by Sambuza, and Li Shimin was replaced by King Nibala.
As for things like ants pulling ropes through small holes, mares and ponies being divided into groups, etc., they are basically all deliberately made up by someone to deceive the people. After all, is it entertainment? This is tradition. Isn’t this what ordinary people like?
After all, for any political power, "whether to make peace or not" and "with whom to make peace" are completely a matter of political trade-offs. How can it be possible to say, "I have a princess" as if there is a tender for something. Are you all here to compete? How much entertainment spirit is this? It is really asking marriage seekers from all over the world to compete together. Isn't this price gouging? It is completely illogical.
Take the Tang Dynasty, which likes marriage, for example. There is not only one princess. Princess Honghua who married King Tuyuhun was also a clan daughter. Tuyuhun married a Tuyuhun, Tubo married a Tubo, and the Tuyuhun envoys would be full of food to stir up trouble with Tubo. thing?
So are these weird things really entertainment?
Not really.
These things were most likely caused by the bald old man who went to the snowy area to preach.
Because in the so-called "Three Tips" story in multiple versions, one version is that the three questions Li Shimin used to make things difficult for the ambassador Lu Dongzan were: "Is there the Ten Good Dharma", "Is there a temple, a guru" "Provisions" and "Is there a supply of goods"...
Just like farmers believe that the emperor in the palace is plowing the fields with a golden hoe, and the queen is cleaning the courtyard with a silver broom, the eminent monks who write stories in Buddhism may think that they have implemented the "Ten Good Dharma", then Other countries, such as the Tang Dynasty and Nepal, must also use the "Ten Good Dharma".
As for why we tell the story of the King of Tubo, it is because in the process of preaching, in order to attract more people to listen, what is more attractive than the "love affair" of a big shot?
It is a pity that the Central Plains has always been a land-based society of large landowners. Those who control the discourse are the gentry group, never the religious group. Even if Li Shimin is an emperor with low intelligence, it is impossible to ask two consecutive questions about Buddhism. issues, and also put the issue of Buddhism in front...
Therefore, are missionaries important? In other words, is it important to have more reliable preachers and not preachers who do things like this that don’t know whether to discredit or add color?
If the missionaries are not dispatched well, there is no telling how many years later Feiqian will suddenly have a green hat on his head, just like the legend of Songtsen Gampo, and then he will become like Li Shimin, the king of Tang Dynasty. Asking such idiotic questions.
Fei Qian felt that if the Han Dynasty had cultural penetration as convenient as certain tools, certain media, and certain platforms in later generations, then it would not be that troublesome to promote Chinese culture.
Occupying a place, and then promoting enlightenment and spreading Chinese civilization, and occupying a place without substantive, first using culture to penetrate and influence, are two completely different concepts, and the methods are also completely different.
The former can be effectively used on the Southern Xiongnu and Xiqiang, while the latter can be used to deal with areas that the Han cannot directly occupy at the moment...
Just like the snow area.
It was not that the Tang Dynasty could not defeat Tubo, but that it was difficult to occupy it, and for political considerations, it adopted the policy of peace and marriage. After all, marriages in the Tang Dynasty often took place when the Tang army had the upper hand. Perhaps there is some flavor of cultural penetration, which has profoundly affected Tubo and other regions. But unfortunately, this kind of cultural penetration did not form a strategy that can be passed down, so that the flavor changed in the later period.
The Xuanwu Gate Incident looks like a quarrel between brothers, but in fact it is not. Just like Li Zhi cheating on Wu Meiniang, it seems like a fatuous act of a lustful person, but in fact it is not.
Politics...
Xun You seemed to notice Fei Qian's distraction and stopped.
Although Fei Qian was distracted, he was still aware of the outside world. When he heard the voice quieten down, he reacted, smiled, said that he had been thinking about something just now, and apologized to Xun You and everyone else.
Xun You and everyone else bowed their hands in return, saying they did not dare.
"Where did you say it?" Fei Qian asked.
Xun You said: "I am introducing the people's livelihood in the snow area..."
Fei Qian nodded, then turned to look at everyone.
"At first I saw these laws and regulations in the snow area, and what they described..." Fei Qian clicked on the text, "Somewhat like this area, but I don't know... I don't know if you have such an area. Feel? 』
The economy of snow areas is not good. Moreover, the harvest of the cultivated land there is also very poor. Compared with the high yield per mu in Chang'an, it feels like heaven and earth.
This is obvious.
Fei Qian looked at everyone's faces one by one. Some nodded, while others pondered.
This was an enlarged meeting, but not many people had a say.
Fei Qian did not intend to give everyone a chance to speak, which would make things more complicated. Expansion is to make it easier for more people to know something, but the host and core should still be firmly grasped.
As soon as Fei Qian said this, he immediately hit the hearts of many people.
It is not only in the Braid Dynasty that people have the idea of "Celestial Kingdom". In fact, there are also many such people in other time periods.
Inferiority and arrogance are two brothers back to back, Jiao Bu Li Meng, Meng Bu Li Jiao.
When they knew that Fei Qian had gathered everyone just for the so-called "spiritual seekers" in the snow area, except for first-class or near-first-class counselors such as Pang Tong, Sima Yi, and Zhuge Jin, many others came to gain experience. , I was going to get an extra three experience points after I clicked Mao, and I didn't put much thought into what Xun You said.
Isn’t he just a seeker?
He was beaten violently by General Zhang before, and it is said that he was beaten to death by so and so? Isn’t the country almost destroyed? What else is there to say? It's just that Fei Qian is a hussar general and the big boss wants to have a meeting, so these talents have to come.
For office workers, clocking in and catching fish is the way to go.
The New Year has just passed, and everyone is still immersed in the holiday celebrations and can’t extricate themselves. It’s understandable, but it can’t always be like this?
Therefore, this enlarged meeting has the effect of getting everyone excited to work.
Of course, Fei Qian also discovered some very interesting things during this Buddhist incident...
It's worth giving it a try.
As for how far the wheel of fate can be pushed, it also depends on how well everyone can accept it, or how well they cooperate.
Fei Qian looked up at the crowd and said, "Everyone, there is a very interesting place here... Why do these people come to Chang'an to learn scriptures?" We are all so poor and in such chaos, how can this sutra be of great use? 』
Everyone couldn't help but be stunned when they heard this, why? Isn't it because Chang'an is the birthplace of the Five Directions God Sect?
Then Pang Tong reacted quickly, frowned and said: "My lord, could it be that the people in the snow area... are suffering, um, or that the tribes... are fighting?" So speaking of it, the way people seek scriptures may not be pure..."
Fei Qian nodded, and clicked twice on the content of the text reported by Xun You about people's livelihood in the snowy area, "These seekers of scripture are also seekers of change." 』
"A change seeker?" ” Everyone either repeated it or thought about it.
Tubo was the first regime in the snow region with clear historical records. Songtsan Gampo is considered to be the actual founder of Tubo, but just like those Chanyus in the desert, they did not establish the country with a bang at a certain point in time. In fact, in the snowy area, there must be a person who never existed. To exist, the process from dispersion to unity.
It was not Songtsen Gampo who drove this process.
But productivity.
Just like a saying from later generations, it is what history chooses, not who chooses history. Even if there is no Songtsen Gampo, there may be Songtsen Gampo to complete this matter.
Songtsen Gampo's role in the gathering of Tibet was more like a catalyst.
"This... is actually not difficult to understand. ” Fei Qian continued, “As far as we know, and according to the descriptions of these pilgrims, this snow area... is it somewhat similar to our ancient times? Vast land, scattered tribes... And now, look, there is an agreed system, and there are wars between tribes... Some people started to call themselves so-and-so kings, and some people started to want to unify the snow area... Isn't it very resemblance? And what is behind these behaviors or phenomena? 』
"It is agriculture, industry, people's livelihood, military, and the development of everything that drives these people to change. ” Fei Qian continued, “When people have more money, they will think about moving around and communicating, only then can goods be sold, and only then will there be corresponding fights... Everyone has selfish motives, so who do you listen to? The law was born...and so on. From the descriptions of these pilgrims, I estimate that the snowy area should be in this transitional period, a bit like our Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods..."
When Fei Qian said this, everyone nodded.
This is easy to understand.
Before the Sui and Tang Dynasties in my country, people did not know much about the political situation on the cold Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. This was partly caused by the inconvenience of transportation and also related to the fact that the Qinghai-Tibet region did not form a relatively strong unified political power at that time. Starting from the 6th century AD, the Yalung tribe located in the eastern part of the Brahmaputra River Basin gradually became stronger and its power expanded to the Lhasa River Basin. In the early 7th century, after Songtsen Gampo succeeded to the throne, he first used force to conquer the surrounding tribes and formally established the Tubo Dynasty.
Although there is no clear historical record of this whole process, and it is not as magnificent as the unification of the six countries in the former Qin Dynasty, it is obvious that after the unification, Tubo began to expand in all directions under the leadership of Songtsan Gampo, and moved south to Nepal. After bowing his head, Songtsen Gampo married a Nepali princess and invaded the Tang Dynasty eastward.
After the first marriage request was rejected by the Tang Dynasty, Songtsen Gampo sent troops to attack the Tang Dynasty. The two countries fought fiercely in the Songpan area for a long time, with each other winning or losing. After the Tang Dynasty knew that it would be difficult to defeat Tubo quickly, it finally agreed to the marriage request, and this is how the story of Princess Wencheng's entry into Tibet began.
"We, China, are the forerunners..." Fei Qian smiled, but there was a sense of history in his voice, "Look, now we just ran a few steps first, and there are these people chasing after us... If we say What happens if we stop ourselves? In fact, I have always been a little strange. This thing actually happened during the reign of King Zhou, and it also happened in the early Han Dynasty. Why was it not written down? In other words, no one has planned it? 』
"This is why I asked you all to come over and asked Gongda to tell you about this. Fei Qian looked around and said, "Learning from the past should serve as a guide for future generations." So what we do today will also become the experience of future generations of China. These Buddhist pilgrims will arrive in Chang'an soon, and what are we going to do... Buddhist pilgrims, haha, they are Buddhist pilgrims, so why are we not the same? 』
"Only if you can obtain my Chinese Scriptures from others will you be able to do your best!" Fei Qian held his hands in front of everyone and said, "I hope you will think carefully about it after you go back. In three days, I look forward to seeing your "Sutra"..."
