Chapter 1298: Master Fahai in History
Why does the fourth reason make sense?
Let's look at a conversation between Fahai and Bai Suzhen before Bai Suzhen was imprisoned in Leifeng Pagoda.
Fa Hai: Don't be apostate, don't be attached to the world. As long as the merits are perfect, the natural day will soar. Bai Suzhen, you have been cultivating for thousands of years, don't you understand this truth? If you want to be born, you must first enter the WTO, and you must first enter the tower if you want to leave the tower. At the critical juncture of Buddhism, one can only move forward but not backward.
Bai Suzhen: I don't want to be locked up.
Fahai: This is not a prison, this is cultivation.
Bai Suzhen: I don't want to practice anymore, I want my officials, I want my son, I want my home.
Fahai: Your home is the prison.
Bai Suzhen: You are a person without a family, you will not understand this.
Fahai: I am homeless, but I have a heart.
Bai Suzhen: You are heartless and ruthless, how can you be compassionate?
Fahai: I will help you reach the fairyland early, isn't this great mercy and compassion?
Bai Suzhen: I don't want to become an immortal anymore, I just want to be a human being. Why do you want to separate us, our husband and wife, and our mother and son? Is it because you are empty of all four elements that you are jealous of others?
Fahai: There is no such thing. Amitabha, the god of gold armor, and the monk, send her to the pagoda now.
At first glance of this conversation, one might think that Fa Hai is just a fake mercy, and that the so-called helping Bai Suzhen in the Immortal Realm is just an excuse for him to avenge the revenge of the past.
If Bai Suzhen wants to complete her merits and rise to the top in a hundred days, where does she need Fahai's help?
But it's not necessarily, because now Bai Suzhen has moved her heart and is greedy for the world, she really can't rely on her own merits and virtues to be perfect, and the stool is in the fairy world.
Of course, Bai Suzhen had this ability in the past, but since meeting Xu Xian, Bai Suzhen gradually lost this ability.
When Bai Suzhen was just transformed into a human form, she went to the Golden Summit of Emei to seek enlightenment from the Avalokitesvara.
When Master Guanyin said that her earthly predestined relationship was not over, Bai Suzhen said, "This disciple has already set his mind, all thoughts are silent, and any earthly predestination is willing to give up."
At that time, Bai Suzhen was devoted to Taoism,
Diligently cultivate and practice hard, just to ascend to the fairyland as soon as possible.
At that time, she naturally had the ability to achieve perfection of merit and virtue on her own, and was honored in the Immortal Realm.
However, following the guidance of Master Guanyin, after meeting Xu Xian at the West Lake Broken Bridge, Bai Suzhen gradually fell in love and forgot about her practice.
And after Bai Suzhen was pregnant with Xu Xian's child, Xiaoqing worried that Bai Suzhen would fall into the dust because she couldn't let go of her family.
But at this time, Bai Suzhen was completely unable to let go of the world. She didn't want to be an immortal anymore, she only wanted to grow old with Xu Xian.
This can also be seen from the conversation with Fa Hai before Bai Suzhen entered Leifeng Pagoda.
For this reason, Bai Suzhen was even willing to pass all her 1700-year skills to Xiaoqing, to help Xiaoqing complete her merits as soon as possible, and be ranked in the class of immortals, while she herself stayed in the world and lived a sweet and happy life with Xu Xian.
Of course, there is nothing wrong with this, as the so-called only envious of mandarin ducks and not immortals, and being sweet with a close lover in the world is indeed more desirable than a lonely immortal.
But there is a problem here. Bai Suzhen is a snake demon who has practiced for thousands of years. Not to mention that he can live forever, but his lifespan is at least thousands of years.
And Xu Xian is just a mortal mortal, even if he can live a long life, it will only be a hundred years.
Then, what should Bai Suzhen do when Xu Xian dies after a hundred years?
If you can get out of the love net and start a new way of cultivation, it's fine, but if you can't get out of the love net, it will be thousands of years, or even longer, Bai Suzhen is destined to be accompanied by longing and pain.
Then, Fa Hai forcibly separated Bai Suzhen and Xu Xian, and forced Bai Suzhen to stay in Leifeng Pagoda to cultivate, saying that it was to help Bai Suzhen ascend to the Immortal Realm early, and it was not unreasonable.
After Bai Suzhen was imprisoned in Lei Feng, Xiaoqing went to Qingfeng Cave to do ascetic cultivation, in order to find an opportunity to seek revenge in the future, and Xu Xian also went to Jinshan Temple to do ascetic cultivation.
Therefore, it can also be said that Fahai is also watching over Xiaoqing and Xu Xian when he is treating Bai Suzhen.
The final result also explained the problem. After Bai Suzhen left the tower, she rose to immortality with Xiaoqing and Xu Xian.
Of course, Fahai also ascended to immortality together. Fahai saved himself while saving Bai Suzhen, Xiaoqing, and Xu Xian.
And the reason why Fa Hai was able to ascend to immortality also just proved that he forcibly locked Bai Suzhen into Leifeng Pagoda, which really helped Bai Suzhen to reach the heart of immortal world early.
Because, if Fa Hai forced Bai Suzhen into Leifeng Pagoda purely for his own personal grievances, he would obviously not be qualified to become an immortal.
For such a reason, Li Fan agrees, and this reason can also explain a problem.
That was a question that Li Fan asked when he was watching "The Legend of the New White Snake" when he was young in his previous life. Fa Hai was so bad, why was he able to become immortal with Bai Suzhen, Xiaoqing, and Xu Xian in the end?
After growing up, Li Fan watched "The Legend of the New White Snake" again, and slowly found the answer, which is the fourth reason analyzed above.
Of course, this does not mean that Fa Hai forced Bai Suzhen into Leifeng Pagoda without any personal grievances. He should have some personal revenge. As for the four reasons, who is dominant and who is second? It's hard to tell, and everyone's views may not be the same.
The above four reasons are all based on the previous versions of Zhao Yazhi, Ye Tong, and Chen Meiqi's TV series "The Legend of the White Snake", not based on the legends of the Legend of the White Snake, let alone some other film and television works about the Legend of the White Snake.
The novel "Legend of the White Snake" that Li Fan launched in this world is adapted from the previous life TV series "The Legend of the New White Snake".
So why Fa Hai must imprison Bai Suzhen in Leifeng Pagoda is destined to arouse heated discussions among readers in this world.
The first three reasons are obvious, and whether the fourth reason will be analyzed and approved by everyone is unknown.
Li Fan pondered that it was certain to be analyzed, but it should be difficult to get everyone's approval.
That's also something that can't be helped. Who made Fahai feel too bad?
However, when it comes to Fahai and Jinshan Temple, Li Fan thinks it is necessary to say a little more.
In the history of the previous life, there was really a Zen master Fahai, who was an eminent monk in the Tang Dynasty, who made outstanding contributions to the development of Buddhism.
According to legend, Zen Master Fahai, commonly known as Pei Wende, was the son of Pei Xiu, the prime minister of the Tang Dynasty.
At that time, the Jinshan was overgrown with thorns and desolate, and there was a white python entrenched in the cave, which often endangered all directions.
Fahai defeated the white python and expelled it into the sea, and then lived in the cave where the white python was entrenched.
Fahai cultivated hard here, cultivated fields, built the famous Jinshan Temple, and was the founder of Jinshan Temple.
The cave where Fahai lived in that year later became a well-known Zen cave.
It can be seen that in history, Chan Master Fahai was the founder of Jinshan Temple who was ascetic and respected by all the people.
