Extra 1: The End of the World of Death [Grindelwald, Dumbledore]
Cold, sleepy, painful...the brain is shaking...
Let it end like this... In a void, Grindelwald murmured to himself. After he gave up the desire to survive, the pain in his chest immediately disappeared without a trace, and he felt an indescribable peace in his heart.
After an unknown amount of time, Grindelwald regained consciousness. There seemed to be a very unique space in front of him. His eyes were filled with white mist, and everything around him was hazy...
Grindelwald frowned. He remembered clearly that he had died in the duel with Ivan Hals. The two Horcruxes were destroyed one after another, and there was no possibility of survival. So... this is death. The world?
"Welcome, Gellert, my old friend..."
At this moment, a familiar voice sounded behind him, and Grindelwald looked back. Dumbledore, wearing a dark blue robe, was standing behind him.
The surrounding scene was also changing rapidly. The fog slowly dispersed, and a wide corridor appeared in front of Grindelwald. The two heads seemed to extend infinitely, and there was no end as far as the eye could see.
"How do you feel?" Dumbledore asked with a smile.
"You mean the feeling of death?" Grindelwald was stunned for a moment, recalling the pain of being pierced through his body, and sneered. "It's not that bad..."
"It seems that you are very lucky, at least not as good as me. It is not a pleasant thing to die from being corroded by black magic." Dumbledore raised his eyebrows and said teasingly.
Grindelwald did not reply. Of course he had experienced that kind of pain, when he was resurrected with a Horcrux, so he scorned Dumbledore's approach of giving up treatment and accepting death...
"You won, Albus. The brat you trained defeated me, just as you expected." Grindelwald said slowly.
"I expected that you wouldn't win, but Hals's ability to defeat you has nothing to do with me. It only depends on his own efforts." Dumbledore said relaxedly.
"Aren't these all part of your plan? Albus?" Grindelwald asked with a sneer.
During the final battle, he clearly noticed that Ivan Hals was very familiar with his spell-casting methods, and he knew without even thinking that Dumbledore must have left some back-up plan.
"So I keep saying that you think highly of me, Gellert. You might as well think about it, if I don't do anything, are you sure that you can win Hals?" Dumbledore asked.
Grindelwald was silent for a moment. Over the past two years, he had witnessed Ivan's growth with his own eyes. He was simply a freak. It would not be an exaggeration to describe him as being possessed by Merlin. He had never seen anyone who could grow up at the age of sixteen or seventeen. Age has reached such heights.
Even if the opponent doesn't rely on Dumbledore's help, he can easily defeat him in two years.
As for killing Ivan Hals before he has grown up? It's not like Grindelwald has never tried. When he was in Nicol Flamel's tomb, he had the intention of killing him, but in the end he was almost killed...
"The wizards of the new era have left us far behind. In a sense, it is the right time for you and me to step aside." Dumbledore said with emotion. "I've always believed that if anyone could really change the wizarding world, it would be Ivan Hals."
"You have confidence in that brat, but I'm afraid he's not going to follow your path." Grindelwald said mockingly.
"The future doesn't matter anymore. I did everything I could, and the rest is left to the wizards who are still alive to worry about." Dumbledore said calmly. "And you and I have both tasted the consequences of rashly interfering in the current situation, haven't we? I think this is a good lesson!"
As Dumbledore spoke, he thought of Ivan who used the Resurrection Stone to summon him to the real world. He sincerely hoped that his portrait would not be burned by the other party...
"Maybe..." Grindelwald paused for a long time before speaking slowly.
Dumbledore gave him everything he wanted before this duel, but the final outcome was the same as it had been for more than fifty years. Maybe he was really wrong.
Dumbledore seemed very happy to notice the change in his old friend's mentality. He spent so much effort and risked releasing Grindelwald. In addition to wanting to pave the way for Ivan Hals, there was another important reason. I just hope that I can untie the knot in the other party's heart and prevent Grindelwald from dying with regret and unwillingness.
Now it seems the effect is quite good...
"Anyway, it's all over..." Grindelwald said with a sigh.
"No, I don't think so yet... It's too early to say that now." Dumbledore shook his head and said warmly. "If you think differently, you will find that everything has just begun!"
Grindelwald looked at Dumbledore in confusion, not quite understanding what he meant.
Dumbledore looked at the endless corridor and said with interest. "I don't know what's going to be at the end of the road, but I think it's going to be another great adventure..."
"While waiting for you, I happened to discover a lot of interesting things, such as the undead passing by here. Usually they would only move in that direction in a hazy manner, but we were able to stay awake."
Of course Grindelwald could hear what Dumbledore meant. Those who could stay awake were extremely special beings in the world of the dead, which might mean danger.
If there really was a God of Death, how would it treat two special people? The legendary great wizard Merlin is no weaker than them, and he can definitely stay awake in the world of death. Has the other party done anything there over the years?
Many doubts come to mind, but what is certain is that this journey about death will probably not be too boring.
"So you're waiting for me here just to find a suitable pathfinder?" Grindelwald's lips curved into a smile.
"I think it would be more accurate to describe him as a partner." Dumbledore corrected Grindelwald's words, paused, and then continued. "Speaking of which, it's been a long time since we joined forces to fight against the enemy, right?"
"Has it ever happened?" Grindelwald asked reluctantly.
"It probably happened a long time ago... Who knows? Anyway, I can't remember..." Dumbledore chuckled, and then took the lead to walk towards the end of the corridor.
"But I remember clearly that there is no such thing!" Grindelwald shook his head, but still followed quickly...
