Chapter 5 5. Get It

On the morning of February 1, the weather was gloomy.

Early in the morning, Li Du and Hans took the bus to the location of Smith Warehouse Company.

The auction was held at nine o'clock, and it was Hans' idea to come early to observe the opponent.

He knew that Li Du was participating in the auction for the first time, so he kept introducing some common sense things to him: "Arriving at the scene in advance is to know yourself and the enemy. You have to know who your opponents are, so as to adjust the bidding strategy... "

At 8:30, there was only half an hour left before the auction started, and everyone who was interested in the warehouse had arrived. Li Du probably took a look and saw that there were more than 50 people.

This put him under pressure: "There are so many people in eight warehouses to shoot?"

Hans said: "They are all targeting massage chairs, don't worry, half of these people are not sure that they won't make a move, and the remaining half and half just want to pick up leaks at a low price. In short, we will get a warehouse. I have prepared enough money."

"You can still get the money?" Li Du was a little surprised, "How did you get it?"

Hans asked without answering, "How did we get here today?"

"Take the bus, Xuete, you mean you sold your car?" Li Du was shocked.

"No, it's temporarily mortgaged, but if I don't buy it back within three days, then the car will not belong to me. So, are you reliable or not? Can you really find the warehouse where the massage chair is located?!"

Li Du said: "My homework is not for nothing, and now it is probably on track, and I can find the warehouse you want when I look at it later."

At ten o'clock, an old man wearing a cowboy hat came out and shouted at a very fast speed: "Everyone line up for me. The warehouse auction will start immediately. I won't say much about the rules. Anyone who doesn't understand doesn't need to participate in this auction." Got it &*%¥#..."

Li Du always thought that his English was good, but he didn't know until this moment that he was too confident!

The warehouse opened, and a group of people passed by in a line. Most of them held flashlights in their hands. Each of them had a minute to stand at the door and watch. The old man in the cowboy hat checked his watch while monitoring whether anyone crossed the line.

Everyone has a minute, and more than fifty people have nearly an hour.

There seems to be nothing valuable in Warehouse No. 202, mainly some household tools and obsolete furniture and electrical appliances, which belong to garbage.

Treasure pickers are not picking up junk, they only buy warehouses that they think are valuable, and if they are not sure they will make money, they will not buy.

Because Americans believe that time and labor are money, and it is a loss to spend time and effort to help warehouse companies clean.

When it was Hans and Li Du's turn, they walked to the door, and Hans took a picture of the warehouse with the wolf-eye flashlight in his hand, and explained to him at the same time:

"First take a quick look to find things that may be valuable. It depends on vision and experience. Look here, there is a box inside that says 'handle with care'. I guess there are glass products in it, probably bowls and saucers. And that There's a handle on the side that I think is a vacuum cleaner..."

Li Du nodded, realizing that he couldn't underestimate these professional treasure pickers.

Hans' judgment was correct. He used the worm to look at it. There were some beautiful porcelain plates and bowls in the box, and the one with the handle exposed was also a vacuum cleaner.

One minute was up soon, and after the two left, Hans whispered: "The value of the things inside is now confirmed to be around 500 yuan, and I guess someone will be willing to take it for around 300 yuan."

After the tour, the auction begins.

The old man in the cowboy hat raised his hand and said, "One hundred dollars, one hundred dollars, one hundred dollars, does anyone offer one hundred and fifty dollars, one hundred and fifty dollars..."

He spoke so fast that Li Du found it difficult to listen.

Immediately, someone nodded, and the old man pointed to the nodding person and continued: "Now it's one hundred and fifty dollars, one hundred and fifty dollars, one hundred and fifty dollars, two hundred dollars, are you willing to pay two hundred dollars..."

"Yes!" Someone shouted again.

The old man changed to pointing at the latest bidder: "Very well, it's already two hundred dollars, two hundred dollars, so how about three hundred dollars, three hundred dollars?"

In this way, the auctioneer bids, and the bidder follows the price. If he can accept the price, give him a reminder, and he will immediately bid another price.

However, the old man directly raised the price by one hundred yuan, and no one followed immediately. Obviously, everyone thought that the things in the warehouse were not worth the money.

Hans raised his hand: "220 yuan!"

Li Du was surprised: "You want to buy this? There is no massage chair in this."

Hans snorted and said, "Don't worry, this warehouse is worth more than 220 yuan, and someone will bid for it. I'm going to show you some bidding rules."

"When the price offered by the auctioneer is not accepted by anyone, you can bid whatever you want, as long as it is higher than the price that was accepted before."

Indeed, as soon as he finished his sentence, the auctioneer said: "220 US dollars, 220 US dollars, how about 250 US dollars, 250 US dollars, is there anyone willing to accept an immediate offer..."

"YEP!"

"The price of $250 $250 $250 is here, so $275 $275 would anyone like it?"

No one raised the bid, and the auctioneer raised his right index finger: "250 US dollars for the first time, 250 US dollars for the second time, I'm going to call it over, no one accepts it? Yes, 250 US dollars, this gentleman won the bid!"

A man of Mexican origin nodded and went to the auctioneer to take a list. He closed the shutter door and locked it with his own lock, and obtained the ownership of the warehouse for the next 24 hours.

Warehouse No. 203 and Warehouse No. 204 were auctioned in this way. The former fetched $300, while the latter only fetched $125. Neither warehouse could be seen from the outside.

When he arrived at warehouse No. 205, Li Du saw a large box covering a massage chair through a gap in a shelf.

He pretended to look at it for a while, then turned around and winked: "Boss Fu, take this!"

Hans still looked like he was fooling around, but when no one was paying attention, he asked in a serious tone: "Are you sure?"

Li Du nodded: "50% sure!"

"Such a big confidence? Very good, look at me." Hanston was suddenly excited.

It was already one o'clock in the afternoon, and the two of them drank some water without eating. Of course, the same was true for the other treasure hunters. Everyone was very tired, and the competition was no longer so fierce.

The auctioneer took a break halfway and could even sleep for half an hour, so the old man was still in good spirits:

"It's still one hundred dollars, one hundred dollars, one hundred dollars, has anyone offered one hundred and fifty dollars, one hundred and fifty dollars..."

Hans raised his hand, and the auctioneer pointed at him: "150 yuan, 150 yuan, 150 yuan, how about 200 yuan, how about 200 yuan?"

The other treasure hunters either frowned or were expressionless or whispered, but no one bid.

Li Du tried his best to keep his expression calm, but his heart was full of ups and downs. He kept begging all the gods, Buddhas, and Jesus God to bless the emergence of competitors.

But obviously someone noticed the big box and followed the price once: "Me!"

"Very good, then 200 yuan, 200 yuan is now 200 yuan, I now say 250 yuan, how about 250 yuan, does anyone follow 250 yuan?"

"Follow!" Hans shook his head and said, then he shrugged and muttered, "There must be something to gain, just bet on this warehouse."

"Then 250 yuan, 250 yuan is now 250 yuan, and it will soon become 300 yuan. Who wants 300 yuan?" asked the auctioneer.

No one bids anymore, they only look at what they can see. Warehouse No. 205 is worth less than the previous three warehouses. Just like Hans said, buying this warehouse is a gamble.

After asking a few quick questions and no one bid, the auctioneer swallowed twice, and then pointed to Hans: "Very good, warehouse 205 is yours!"
