Chapter 4 The Coffin
"22 armed men are still on the move," Xu Yang has already seized control of the cameras and sensors inside the quarry, "and 2 people are trying to communicate with the outside world, but the signal has been blocked by me."
Signal jammers are commonplace. They were originally used to restrict employees from playing mobile phones in the company. Now they are controlled by Xu Yang and used to suppress the distress signals of security employees.
Deep underground, communication is extremely inconvenient, and a little interference can play a huge limiting role.
Mateo stood up from the car, turned his head and made two tactical gestures to the mercenaries behind him. They understood it, grabbed their weapons, put on night vision goggles, jumped out of the vehicle, and broke into the mining field.
Each of them seems to have rehearsed countless times in advance, almost like printing the information of the quarry in their minds. They are already familiar with the structure of the quarry, and even when the lights are completely turned off, they can find it with ease. The most suitable fighting position.
After the mercenaries broke into the quarry, gunshots continued to sound, accompanied by the screams of internal security personnel being killed.
There are a total of 6 mercenaries, but they can easily suppress many times the enemy. Obviously, the combat literacy of both sides is not at the same level.
Mateo didn't move, like a statue, still wearing sunglasses, but seemed to be able to see everything around him.
Bacchus put on a communicator and kept reporting the coordinates and locations of surrounding enemies to the mercenaries, allowing them to shoot and complete the cleanup without much effort.
All of this coordination is precise and effective, and the survivors have been killed before they can report the situation here.
"It's done." Bucks nodded.
Mateo jumped out of the car and walked quickly into the quarry. The mercenaries on the mission returned to the team and followed behind him, forming a tactical formation, guarding each other, and the flashlights on the muzzle shone.
"Have you been with them for a long time?" Xu Yang asked Bacchus, lagging behind.
"Yes," Bacchus nodded, "many missions, but Mateo... He came by airborne, and I can't tell."
No wonder Mateo's attitude toward Bacchus is somewhat alienated.
"Hacker witch... What is your original ability?"
"you are boring."
"We still have a way to go."
"Inkjet," Bacchus stretched out his right hand, showing some black marks from the palm of his hand, "the most rubbish ability, the company kicked me out when I was 7 years old, I was discovered by everyone when I was doing graffiti on the street, and it was transformed into what it is now. High-intensity work."
"The taste of transformation must be unpleasant, and the ability is also suppressed."
"That's better than starving and scavenging at the risk of being raped. I really can't stand someone like you, running out of the company if you have a regular job."
"How much can you take?"
"Don't ask about dividends, this is the norm. Ah, I'm not jealous that you can get tens of millions of dollars..."
Passing through the wall, Xu Yang saw a huge industrial mining facility. It was painted bright yellow and looked like a sleeping monster, standing in the center of the camp.
The surrounding guard posts are tall and strong, almost integrated with the rock, overlooking the entire camp.
The security guards of the quarry who were shot were lying on the ground, and the surrounding forts and searchlights were dead silently. When the mercenaries looked up, they saw the distant top of the ancient hollow, separated by a hundred feet, making people feel small, as if walking into a giant corpse.
Can't relax.
Mateo stared at the security guards, as if scanning to see if they were really dead.
"Come on, if they are in charge of a hard restart of the remote connection, we're done." Backus is also experienced and knows the risks behind the technology.
"If you say that, it may be noticed at any time over there." Mateo said.
Common sense, Bacchus' assumption is correct. Xu Yang thought to himself. At the main console, someone must have noticed the fact that the equipment at the excavation site was offline, and immediately dispatched the company's quick response troops to order them to control the situation.
It's just that it's different now.
Xu Yang flipped through the program logs and sent and received data streams in his digital mind. There was no communication, and there was no evidence that any upper-level authority was observing or managing it.
That said, it's quite possible that Kyoto Infinity didn't even notice what was going on here.
"We still have time." Xu Yang said, "they lack vigilance."
"It's our chance... keep up," Mateo said.
A mercenary walked behind Xu Yang and followed him, as if they were watching.
Xu Yang began to worry that these mercenaries would suddenly riot.
He used digital mind manipulation to restore part of the power supply, activate the surrounding motion sensors, temperature scans and cameras, set himself as a non-scanning object, and then began to monitor the every move of the mercenaries around him, feeding this data back to himself in real time.
If they wanted to suddenly do something to them, Xu Yang would react earlier than them.
Be cautious...
"There seems to be a minefield ahead. This morning, they checked the status of the mines." Xu Yang flipped through the security log and noticed a clue.
Some security devices operate completely independently and cannot be controlled from a common network.
"I'll mark them." Bacchus' eye implants began to scan, clacking, and 25 red dots lit up on the ground ahead, indicating the location of the intellisense mines.
"You are very calm," Mateo glanced at Xu Yang, "I thought you would be a little busy."
"The money is about to arrive," Xu Yang said, "how could I be careless."
"This is the mentality I want to see... Think about it, Xu, the witch is an endless wealth that will make us all happy." Mateo led them to a stop at a downward slope, "...This is where the ancient witch was."
Xu Yang saw a faint light coming from the inside, which was not produced by artificial technology, and he could not scan the information of any equipment.
Mateo gave Bacchus a wink, and Bacchus operated on the small transmitter he carried and quickly sent a message out.
Xu Yang secretly intercepted the information flow, the content of which was to summon a large shuttle.
After just 7 minutes, the shuttle will automatically navigate to the scene to assist them in their evacuation.
The plan is indeed very precise, and there must be a response from outside. They're almost there, I'm just a temporary component in their planning chain hoping to get the money alive.
"Go." Mateo quickly ran into the slope, and Xu Yang caught up with the mercenary's urging.
The group walked down about fifty meters and came to an ancient tomb.
The entrance has been destroyed, and the four walls are tall and heavy, and there are old frescoes painted on them. The style is old, the colors are gorgeous, the lines are rough and simple, and the content cannot be identified.
The tomb is surrounded by immortal candlesticks, with a total of sixteen copper candles, and the fire jumps to illuminate the large ancient coffin in the middle.
On the top, hanging long bronze chains, hangs an ancient brazier, from which a dizzying aroma emanates, as if some kind of spices and herbs are burning, burning for centuries, the fuel turns to ashes.
Except for Mateo, all the mercenaries took out an oxygen mask and put it on, filtering the psychedelic gas in the air. Xu Yang also covered his mouth and nose, knowing that the gas was harmful and not beneficial.
No matter who forged this tomb, he hoped that the contents of the coffin would be sealed deep underground forever, sinking into a dream.
After looking around, Xu Yang moved his gaze to the coffin.
In an instant, he felt a shudder from the bottom of his heart.
This is human instinct, the defense consciousness inherited from genes, just like being stared at by a tiger or a lion, adrenaline begins to secrete, and the nerves are highly alert, ready to fight or escape at any time.
The thing sleeping in the coffin is far more terrifying than any beast.
"Gentlemen, this is it." Mateo strode towards the ancient coffin, "Hundreds of millions of actions, the cooperation of hundreds of people, after a series of sleepless nights, anxiety, panic, repeated assurances and plans... We Finally found the key to Paradise."
This moment has finally arrived.
Xu Yang held his breath.
Mateo walked over to the ancient coffin.
"Should we open it?" a mercenary asked.
"It's supposed to remain intact, but... the container can't be moved." Mateo tried the weight of the coffin.
Xu Yang noticed that the bottom of the coffin and the ground were fused together and could not be separated. Mateo could only give up his plan to take the coffin away and pushed the lid open.
When the coffin lid was moved, the flames of the candlesticks at the four corners flickered, as if in fear, as if in warning.
Now Xu Yang can vaguely see the contents of the murals. Those are natural disasters, sacrifices, people suffering in the sea of fire, and all things perishing in brilliance.
However, his attention was completely off the murals.
After Mateo opened the coffin completely, Xu Yang couldn't help but look closer. The mercenaries also put down their guns and walked up unconsciously.
A witch was sleeping in the coffin.
She has a delicate face, long chestnut hair in a mess, her hands on her sides, and she wears a gorgeous dark red dress with golden sleeves and embroidered patterns. The hem of the dress is decorated with fringes, jewels and gold threads. Complicated, dignified and elegant, it has a magnificent temperament that modern technology can never imitate. Like an oil painting, like an untouchable dream.
In the coffin, the Holy Grail filled with gold, silver and jewels are all invaluable ancient treasures.
Looking closely at the witch's figure, Xu Yang saw that her chest rose slightly and her nose twitched.
The witch has a fresh face, breathing in her sleep, as if she had dreamed for thousands of years.
She is still alive.
"Take the target away." Mateo ordered, and the four mercenaries started working together, lifted the witch from the coffin, and quickly moved outwards.
In an era when human faces can be changed at will, beautiful appearances are not uncommon. Even so, Xu Yang will never forget the witch's appearance, which is unique.
He held his breath and stepped back.
The moment the ancient witch was taken out of the tomb, Xu Yang glanced back, all sixteen ancient candlesticks were extinguished in an instant, the tomb sank into pure darkness, and the brazier on the top no longer burned, leaving scarlet embers.
They can only pretend not to see this scene.
