One Thousand Seven Hundred Eleven Purgatory
Comparing the several attacks of the Zerg, the two lines of defense faced completely different situations.
The first line of defense was set at the edge of the city, and the firepower point directly faced the charging Zerg. The battle line was long and the confrontation area was large. It also had to face the targeted elimination of the light insects directly, so the defenders suffered heavy casualties in all the confrontations.
The second line of defense was different. The outermost fortress building was the natural barrier of the second line of defense. The Zerg must adapt to the terrain between the two lines of defense before it can launch an attack.
It is precisely the restriction of the terrain on the Zerg that gives the defenders great convenience and even becomes a tactical advantage for the defenders.
The Zerg walking on the short street made little progress, and the Zerg climbing the building had already climbed onto the rooftop.
The defenders on each rooftop had already made preparations. After seeing the giant insect, they immediately opened fire. There was a burst of gunfire on the rooftop, and the dense fire net swept across the rooftop. The giant insects that rushed to the rooftop were hit in front of the fire net and had blood broken. From climbing onto the rooftop to being completely dead, it took at most a few seconds.
The insects immediately split into two parts. One part continued to climb up the rooftop in a normal way to attract the firepower of the defenders. However, the springtails in the swarm suddenly jumped up when they were about to climb onto the rooftop. They jumped high and landed on the rooftop, then took off again at the fastest speed, trying to fly over the rooftop in a continuous jump.
The springtails' jumping ability is indeed strong. They can jump to the rooftop of the second line of defense with only three or four bounces.
The firepower of the defenders is indeed fierce, but the springtails are very agile, and there are always a few lucky insects that pass through the firepower network of the defenders.
And there are quite a few springtails. At least dozens of them fell to the edge of the opposite rooftop in the first wave. This is just the rooftop facing Ye Han and others. It is unknown how many springtails are about to jump over in other directions.
At the critical moment, everyone's guns instinctively turned to the springtails, but the speed of this batch of springtails was indeed too fast. They jumped again after landing, and even the special service team with the fastest reaction did not hit many of them.
The defenders on the rooftop here do have an absolute advantage. If the springtails come over, they will definitely not have a good time. However, the springtails are flexible. Even if they are inevitably killed by the defenders in the end, letting them fall here is also a big trouble. At least some of the defenders will have to turn back to deal with them, and the frontal firepower will inevitably weaken.
But just as the springtails flew over the rooftop, a row of neat iron fences suddenly popped up under the parapet of the second line of defense. This thing stood high on the top of the wall, and it was estimated to be at least two people tall.
The springtails in the air had nowhere to borrow strength, and there was no way to dodge or avoid it. It crashed into the fence without any suspense, causing the fence to shake.
The fence was obviously not a high-tech equipment, and the quality was just average. Every springtail deformed the railings and embedded them one by one. The scene was as funny as it could be.
One of the springtails crashed in front of Ye Han, and the distance between the man and the springtail was only a little over two meters!
Ye Han clearly saw that the head of the springtail hit a fence, and one of its eyes burst, revealing a dark green unknown liquid.
Ye Han's cheek twitched, and he raised his hand and fired a shot, blowing up the springtail's head.
The others were similar, and after they came to their senses, they immediately shot and killed all the springtails on the fence.
This scene was really unexpected. No special service member had thought in advance that they could use this method to deal with giant insects.
However, the defenders should have known it long ago, and the soldiers were not surprised at all.
At this time, the second batch of springtails fell to the edge of the rooftop on the opposite side. They had to jump higher and farther to jump to the rooftop on this side, but with this not particularly tall fence blocking it, it was not so easy for the springtails to come over.
However, insects never know what fear is. The springtails on the opposite side still jumped with all their strength, and then they hung on the fence like their previous companions.
That's right, it was hung,
not embedded!
Because the fence rose a little bit, just blocking this batch of springtails.
Moreover, the top of the fence is not vertically upward, but bent diagonally upward, and the railing head is ground into a not-so-sharp tip.
However, no matter how blunt it is, it can't stop the speed of the springtails. The tip of the top of the railing directly pierces the shell of the springtails, and now they don't have to jump anymore.
Neither wave of springtails crossed the rooftop, but their actions did attract the attention of some defenders. The swarm of insects on the opposite rooftop took the opportunity to rush over, and the dense swarm of insects almost covered the entire rooftop.
Ye Han suddenly had an idea in his mind. Even the springtails couldn't come over, so what did these insects on the opposite side want? Climb down the wall and then climb up again?
Before he could figure out what was going on, the swarm of insects on the opposite side performed a unique stunt in front of all the defenders. First, a bug lay on the edge of the rooftop and stuck its butt out of the rooftop, then the second, the third...
Then other giant bugs climbed onto the backs of these bugs, hugged their companions' butts, and continued to push their own butts over here...
Ye Han was simply powerless to complain. Are you trying to build a bug bridge? In front of so many defenders, you are too arrogant, right?
No problem, beat it!
Everyone fired at the swarm of insects without hesitation, but the bugs didn't care at all, and continued to build a bridge under the firepower of the defenders. For the safety of the bug bridge, the bugs who were busy building the bridge also raised the bodies of their companions as shields.
Ye Han was so angry that he was about to ask Daniel to give the bugs a hard time, but a soldier ran over with a few particularly eye-catching steel cylinders on his back. Looking at his heavy feet, you can tell that those steel cylinders must not be light.
Ye Han was delighted when he saw it. The defenders had prepared this thing?
The soldier rushed to the edge of the rooftop, put the launcher in his hand on the parapet, looked around and was about to speak, but Da Yan had already taken the initiative to stand behind him: "Old soldier, I'll help you!" He said with both hands to support the cylinders behind the soldier.
Those cylinders are the legendary flamethrowers, and they look the oldest.
This type of jet has a recoil of more than 60 kilograms. Under normal circumstances, you have to lie down to use it. At present, there is no such condition, so you can only push it from behind.
"Okay!" The soldier grinned, showing a mouthful of white teeth.
Then, a dazzling fire dragon gushed out from the launcher in the soldier's hand, and the blazing flames swept across the fence and rushed to the rooftop opposite.
The giant insects gathered on the rooftop were immediately ignited by the fire dragon, and in the blink of an eye they turned into a group of candle ends with flames flying everywhere. The flames made the giant insects completely confused. They spread their insect legs and ran around. Some of them were burned to pieces by the flames, and some fell off the rooftop. After a while, there were no more living insects on the rooftop opposite.
At the same time, flamethrowers were also used on several nearby rooftops. The rooftops in sight were originally occupied by insects, but now either no insects can be seen, or only burnt insects can be seen.
