Chapter 317: Blocking the Valley Entrance

The purple sunset turned into red, and the green valley mouth was stained with blood. Three thousand rat-like tribesmen, along the undulating mountain passes, faced directly against two thousand tiger and leopard-like Imperial Guards.

Under the banner of the Black Wolf, the imperial guards formed a battle formation, wielding their war sticks alternately, and powerfully slashed at the enemy's head, neck, chest and abdomen. The canine tribesmen fell down like cornstalks, sputtering out a large puff of life. The tribesmen were in loose formations, had low morale, lacked war experience, and had almost no threat during battle. They thrust out their stone spears, leaving only shallow holes in the warriors' cotton armor, and were immediately killed by sharp war clubs. The rapid sounds of fighting came in the wind, and soon turned into dying wails and frightened screams.

After only a moment of fighting, more than three hundred canine descendants fell to the ground. The formation of the tribesmen expanded like a balloon and was scattered in an awkward manner, with people constantly turning around and running away. Thousands of red fox warriors pressed the formation at the rear, firing bone arrows mercilessly, driving the tribesmen who were afraid of retreating back to the front line. Then, they fired rounds of arrow rain from a distance of forty or fifty steps, struggling to harass the warriors' formation.

"Charge with me!"

Bertard looked at the red fox warriors who were holding down the formation, and then led three hundred jaguar warriors to personally launch an assault and rush into the enemy's formation!

The samurai captain has strong steps and quick movements. He doesn't have any fancy moves, he just hits the vital points accurately. He swung the war stick lightly and cut the neck of one dog-born, and then slashed the head of another dog-born with a sweeping blow. In just a dozen breaths, he killed several people! The canine descendants died instantly without even leaving a scream.

Then, three hundred jaguar warriors roared and charged together! Warriors wearing tiger skins rushed into the formation and slashed wildly, as if they were entering a deserted land. Faced with this kind of onslaught, the canine tribesmen could no longer hold on. They let out a cry of extreme fear, and like a balloon inflated to the limit, they exploded and fled in all directions!

"Keep charging!"

Bertard doesn't stop. He threw away the worn obsidian war stick, pulled out the bronze Qin sword from his waist, and strode towards the Red Fox warriors. Drops of blood fell from the sharp pieces of obsidian, sinking into the gradually dark red soil, just like the evening sky.

"Ouch! Thick-skinned Chief!"

Iwekan narrowed his eyes and shot the bone arrow fiercely. The sharp arrow only grazed Bertard's bronze armor and only slightly scratched the cloth. The warrior commander paused for a moment, looked at Iwekan's red hair, and then charged straight towards him.

"Whoosh whoosh!"

The red-haired warriors fired a hail of arrows. The jaguar warriors charged into the battle without stopping. Their cloth armors had bone arrows stuck in them, but they suffered no damage. The warriors rushed towards them like ferocious beasts, and within thirty steps in a blink of an eye, they all raised their war clubs and roared like tigers before the battle.

"Roar!"

Iwekan's pupils shrank instantly, turned around and ran away.

"Ouch! Thick-skinned tiger-headed warrior! Get out!"

The red-haired captain ran away like a vigorous red fox. More than two hundred tribal scouts also turned around and ran away. They had fought against the tiger-headed warrior and knew how powerful the opponent was. Without a sufficient numerical advantage, it would be impossible to defeat the thick-skinned elite of the brigade. The remaining red fox warriors were brave enough, or they had no time to react and were directly killed by the jaguar warriors.

A jaguar warrior cut through the cotton armor of a red-haired warrior with a side slash, and slashed the opponent's chest and abdomen, with a wound of half a meter. The red-haired warrior screamed and fell to the ground, desperately covering the torn wound, but his hands were dyed bright red. Life flowed out, mixed with internal organs flowing out, and the red hair became silent for a moment.

Seeing this scene, two tribal warriors came up to double-team. They struggled to thrust out the stone spears and pierced the chest and back of the Jaguar warrior, making a metallic sound, but they failed to break the armor at all. The jaguar warrior grinned, held the stick in both hands, and swept violently. The tribal warrior in front of him let out a menacing groan, twisted his neck to ninety degrees, and died at a crooked angle. Another young tribal warrior looked frightened and finally turned around and ran away.

The Jaguar warrior looked murderous. Wearing medium armor, he did not pursue him, but took off the bronze throwing spear from his back, took two steps forward, and threw it suddenly.

"puff!"

The sharp spear passed through a precise arc, accurately piercing the young warrior's back, and then nailed his whole body into the soil. The young warrior was still writhing on the ground, like a grasshopper stuck in the ground, but he couldn't move even half a step. Warmth flowed out, screams were heard, but no one paid attention, and he slowly returned to rest.

Bertard took a step forward and stabbed a warrior wielding a stone hammer to death with a stab of his right hand. Then, he stepped back and put away his sword, holding it with both hands together, and slashed diagonally from top to bottom! A red-haired head rolled to the ground. The warrior captain stopped with a calm expression, his armor was stained with blood, and the copper sword in his hand was bright red. He has penetrated the enemy formation, and there is no enemy in front of him, only hundreds of fleeing Red Fox warriors!

"Whoosh whoosh!"

Thousands of personal guards put down their war clubs, raised their long bows, and fired a volley. Dozens of Red Fox warriors turned their backs to the rain of arrows and fell to the ground screaming. The Red Fox warriors ran away desperately and were hit by two more rounds of feather arrows, leaving dozens of corpses behind. The remaining soldiers escaped from the shooting range and turned into small dots. They fled far away in a moment.

"These canine warriors are not good at fighting in battle, but they are extremely fast in running away!"

Bertard lowered his eight-sided Qin sword, looked at it for a moment, and smiled lightly. Then, he raised the bronze sword, gently wiped it with his fingers, looked at the sharp and shining blade, and sighed in admiration.

"Killed several people in a row and still showed no wear and tear. It's really a good weapon! Well, the copper sword is short and sharp. It should be mainly used for assassination and combined with a large shield for defense."

The warrior leader looked up at the sky. After a fight, the sunset had already fallen into the sky, and the sky gradually darkened. He looked around and saw that the ground was full of fallen dog tribesmen, more than a thousand in number. The scattered tribesmen were scattered everywhere, and there were many wounded who could not move. Hundreds of guards were searching the battlefield, and they would occasionally hit them with sticks.

Bertard nodded and looked at the valley entrance not far to the north. Figures flashed in the valley entrance, and the dog tribesmen carrying large and small bags emerged again. They looked at the tragic battlefield in the south, and fled to the north in fear, without any fighting spirit.

"One thousand five hundred guards, follow me, block the valley entrance and occupy the camp at the valley entrance! Four hundred guards, chase and kill the scattered tribesmen, and return when it gets dark! The remaining hundred people, check the battlefield and treat the wounded!"

The warrior leader shouted loudly, and led a large group of guards to continue to the valley entrance. The dog tribesmen at the entrance of the valley desperately fled, and hundreds of them escaped, and a large group of Mexica warriors rushed in. From then on, the inside and outside were isolated, and the dog tribesmen in the valley were like rats in a cage, and they could no longer escape!

The night quickly deepened. In this battle, 3,000 dog tribesmen suffered 1,300 casualties, including more than 800 unarmored tribesmen and more than 500 red fox warriors. The 2,000 guardsmen only suffered a few dozen casualties. The east and west entrances of the valley faced each other, with the Mexica flags flying. The Guajili people in the valley seemed to know their fate. Low elegy echoed in the valley, and desperate cries scattered in the wind, all night long.
