Red Heart Survey

Summary and Remarks of Volume 11

Good afternoon, my dear friends.

I am now sitting at my desk, leisurely writing this summary, thinking about where to go to play later.

During this seven-million-word writing, I almost cut off social interaction. The only social interaction is with you, so I often say something from my heart in the testimonials and chat about the day.

However, there are more and more readers, and the author's sincerity has also reached the top. Every word of the author is put under a microscope and observed separately. Gradually, speaking is a dangerous thing.

But I still want to talk to you about something.

What I face is a specific person, and even a vague image - this person seems to be always by my side, usually not speaking, but occasionally shouting, hey! Keep going!

Give me support, accompany me, and let me know that I am not walking alone in the long night.

Today I want to talk to you about the creation of the protagonist.

Haha, this seems to be a very dangerous topic.

Since the beginning of the book, sincerity or not has been a long-lasting "debate" topic. Everyone is very enthusiastic about the word "red heart", which is reasonable, because after all, Red Heart Sky Tour has been written so far, and each volume is very relevant. There is no reason why the title of the book does not matter.

I have never talked about this matter publicly, because once I talk about Red Heart, it will inevitably involve spoilers, which will hurt the readers' reading experience. How I hope that every plot I weave will complete the most grand echo in the minds of readers. I don't allow spoilers to happen here.

Just like Jiang Wuqi's step into the divine, Zhu Biqiong's return from the secret realm of Tianfu, Mo Jia's capture of Huang Jinmo, and losing to Chong Xuanzun in front of the battle of Xia... In these controversial plots, I never said what would happen later, but just silently wrote the whole plot line, and then jumped out to complain - look, you are impatient! I have designed them all!

It's just that some can be written quickly, such as the knot for Qiu Shuang. Some take a long time, such as the dispute between Wang Zun, which requires the entire battle of Xia, and the mirror flower water moon line even crosses several volumes, and the Mo Jia line has not yet ended.

Red Heart has the greatest controversy, and I have the longest silence.

Now is the time, after the volume of Tian Shang Bai Yu Jing.

The copyright of Chi Xin Xun Tian was sold very early, and the comics were sold especially early. Around 21 years ago, the main writer of the comics added me as a friend.

He was a very dedicated creator. He communicated with me many times and drew a lot of character drafts, but as you can see, the comics have not come out yet.

I said that I hope to wait until I finish this novel, or at least write it to the later stage, before starting these things. I am worried that I will deviate from the theme in the end.

As a novel author, you only need to be responsible for yourself. Comics and animations are responsible for the entire production team, and the pressure is different.

At that time, the main writer of the comics asked me-what is Chi Xin? Can the book Chi Xin Xun Tian have a sentence at the beginning to explain the theme.

Just like "I want to be a Hokage" and "I want to be the man of the Pirate King", these mainstream hot-blooded comics can become the symbol of this comic.

I was stunned at the time.

Ah, Chi Xin Xun Tian is not like this.

The protagonist is not born with the ability to point to the sky and the earth, look majestic, and shout that he wants to patrol the sky with a pure heart!

He can only cry loudly when he is born.

What I want to write about is not a person who is born knowing and great; what I want to write about is not a person whose mind remains unchanged from beginning to end; what I want to write about is not a person who is piled up with a few labels.

I want to write about his growth, his experience, and his vivid life.

Compared with other characters with their own edges, Jiang Wang was relatively ordinary at the beginning, and his brilliance had to be honed in the hardships of the world.

Some people think that Jiang Wang is not charming enough, which is not wrong.

I have been writing since the first volume. He is not a perfect person, and he is not a person who shines brightly as soon as he appears.

He is not a character whose mind is fixed at the beginning, and he is not a time traveler with a mature mind and a fixed personality.

He is the "native" in the mouth of online readers, and he is a person who grew up in that fairy world.

He left his hometown alone at the age of fourteen and sought the truth in Fenglin City.

His father died in his teenage years.

Later, he had to take care of his sister and play the role of both brother and father. Many times, it seems that he has matured and can stand the test of time on his own.

But he was only seventeen years old when he left home with white hair...

That kind of maturity is just a fragile shell, which is a necessity in life - he has to take care of his sister, although he is also a person who needs to be taught and taken care of.

He is a teenager who came out of a small town. His father is just an ordinary medicinal material merchant. His vision is only so high, and the storms he has experienced are just the difficulties of studying.

So you can see that his original ideal collapsed easily. He was fooled around by Bai Lian, and his three views were not stable at all. Bai Lian told him that Yuheng Peak was the source of the pain of the monks in Sanshan City, so he decided to overthrow it - he didn't think about whether there were deeper reasons behind it, he couldn't think so deeply.

He was desperate because of the death of a little girl. At that time, he might have thought of his sister, or a simple sense of justice.

He would hand over Daoxun because of the difficulties of the monks in Sanshan City.

He would feel sorry for a little girl who survived a pile of fierce beasts, and would fight for Bai Lian because Bai Lian saved him.

When the Heart-Eater Demon Bear Wen targeted him, his only thought was how to save himself. He didn't think about harming anyone. He just thought that in the entire Maplewood City, Zhang, Fang, and Wang were the only three places that could help him contain him. Opponents, and only the Fang family was familiar to him.

After Killing the Bear asked.

Thinking of the elders of the Fang family who died in the battle, he had to find excuses to comfort himself - I had no choice but to do it, and I had no choice.

This is where he is vulnerable. He is escaping.

You see, he's not perfect. He was never a perfect person to begin with.

Is there any way to make this plot non-controversial?

too easy.

Just sacrifice a little of the IQ of the supporting character and let Fang Zehou choose to persecute the protagonist. Let the clan elder also participate in the plan and express what he wants to do to An An.

That would bring people and demons into the Fang family, which would be very satisfying.

But a character's real choice can only be reflected when he is struggling.

His escape and vulnerability at that time are exactly what I want to describe.

Along the way, Jiang Wang has grown not only in his cultivation, but also in his cognition, his knowledge, his ability to deal with things, and his attitude towards the world... they are all constantly changing.

Not necessarily a completely good change.

There were many people who had an important impact on his life.

It was Lu Shuanghe and Yi Shengfeng who told him that practicing means fighting.

It was Zuo Guanglie who told him what extraordinary courage, extraordinary compassion, and extraordinary commitment are.

It was Miaoyu who shattered his three views and made him re-recognize the world for the first time. It turns out that Yuheng Peak is like this, and it turns out that the eternal covenant between the human race and the water tribe is just a piece of paper.

It was Ye Qingyu who strengthened his background and told him that if he knew it was wrong, how could it be right?

It was Zhuang Chengqian who told him not to trust anyone easily. There are many people who deceive gods and ghosts.

It was Dong Ah who told him that everyone has a different path and makes their own choices.

It was Zheng Shangming who told him that it was the efforts of a mediocre person. Before that, what he was thinking was, how come you, Zheng Shangming, have changed? From a sincere young man, you have turned into an official who is bent on climbing up so quickly.

It was Fang Heling who let him know that not everyone is as talented as you and has as many choices as you.

It was Master Guanyan who told him - "To demand others by your standards is already demanding, and to demand the world by your standards, then if you are evil and don't know it, you are a demon among demons."

Too much too much……

He did not understand these principles from the beginning.

He had been confused, confused, entangled, and in pain.

He rolled around naked in the gravel of this world with a hot heart. Some places were scarred, some were still bleeding, some were still soft, and some were only pits that could never be filled. .

Readers often say that Jiang Wang is a very naughty person.

He is really naughty.

He had ideals, but his ideals were destroyed time and time again.

He has cognition, but his cognition is subverted time and time again.

When Zhu Biqiong was about to die, she said, "This world is different from what I thought."

For Jiang Wang, why not?

He discovered again and again that the world was different from what he thought.

Chong Xuan Sheng asked him to lose his innocence, and he tried not to be naive, but he had no way not to be naive. His experience is there, his vision is there.

So he worked very hard to find clues, evidence, relationships, and reasoning——

In the end, Wei Xun told him that your sword is not enough to defend your principles.

He goes out of his way to accomplish the impossible.

But it's no use trying your best.

Is it just Ji Shaoqing who he endured to death in Tianya Terrace?

Along with it, much of his innocence withered.

From then on he understood that his truth was only within the edge of his sword.

For example, I wonder how many people still remember Taoist Bai Nie from Lingkong Hall?

He is the one who wants to seize power in Lingkong Temple.

Jiang Wang killed him with one strike of his sword.

What was Jiang Wang thinking at that time? If you read the original text, you can see that it is "eight handles".

It was what he saw from Jiang Shu, the subconscious learning of life and death.

He unconsciously developed a certain dependence and admiration for Jiang Shu, and unconsciously imitated him like a child who regards his father as his teacher. Of course, he finally walked out of his own life.

What I want to say is a world with a sense of reality, where everything flows.

It’s not just the personality that has changed, it’s not just the cognition, it’s also the relationship between the characters.

Take the relationship between Jiang Wang and Yin Guan as an example.

Upon closer inspection, their attitudes towards each other are constantly changing as their cultivation progresses and their friendship develops.

At first, Jiang Wang could only endure Yin Guan's murder. Yin Guan threatened him with the Lian family, and he could only help cover it up. Later, he began to set rules for Hell No Gate, not allowing anyone to kill people casually. Yin Guan also began to worry about his feelings, and later he confidently refused to pay back the money he owed...

Take the relationship between Jiang Wang and Qi Guo as an example.

At first, he had no sense of belonging to Qi State. He came to Qi State just because netizens were here. Netizens told him that there were development opportunities here, so he came to try his luck.

So outside Linzi City, Yin Guan saved his life, and on this condition, he asked Jiang Wang to cover him entering the city. Jiang Wang's bottom line was "Don't hurt Chongxuan Sheng, don't hurt ordinary people."

Qi State was not in his consideration range at all.

But then he asked Yin Guan - who asked you to call the emperor by his name?

He won honors and meritorious deeds for Qi State time and time again, and Qi State supported him time and time again. In the process, he gradually developed a sense of belonging. He began to recognize himself as "a native of Qi".

Finally, leaving Qi was the natural choice of the character.

In addition to the forced killing of Zhuang Gaoxian, which was a necessary event, it was also the fundamental conflict between the protagonist and Qi.

He had feelings for Jiang Shu, and his behavioral logic has always been - you are good to me, I am good to you, which is actually "righteousness" in essence.

But what does Jiang Shu want? It is "loyalty". He can tolerate you, favor you, and reward you, but you must obey his orders unconditionally and practice his will.

After leaving Qi, their relationship became more natural. Because the emperor no longer needs to doubt, and the hero can stand up straight.

I must admit that in my creation, I am indeed too cold to Jiang Wang.

In the balance of characters, I often choose to sacrifice the protagonist.

I always think that there is still a long place to write about the protagonist, so I will focus on other characters first. I always think that Jiang Wang is so strong, he can bear it...

For example, in Shanhaijing, in order to outline Fang Heling's character arc and to strengthen Wang Changji's charm, there must be someone who forces Fang Heling to cry out from the bottom of his heart. Only Jiang Wang is suitable, and he is indeed just and logical.

For example, in the war against Xia, Chong Xuanzun must not lose at that time. If he loses, all his previous shaping will become a blank sheet of paper, and Chong Xuanzun's famous line: "I want to win everything, including courage." will be meaningless.

Then Jiang Wang can only lose. And indeed he couldn't beat him at that time.

Maybe this is what many people call "literary youth disease".

When we read novels now, we often use a word, "poison point".

Sometimes I read some online writing methodologies and often use this word, often talking about how to avoid "poison points".

Don't write like this, readers don't like it, don't write like that, readers don't like it.

Readers seem to be a very thin group, with simple labels attached there, not liking this or that.

In these methodologies, what is considered is not how the plot should be woven, how the characters should be shaped, and how the story lines should collide.

What is considered is what readers "should" like.

I cannot agree.

I am not saying not to write texts that everyone likes. I am saying that the creator's top priority is always the brilliance of the story itself.

We bring our favorite texts to find soulmates, rather than trying to figure out what a certain part of readers "like" to make products.

If those texts are not your favorite, but what you think readers like, then it can never be your best work. If you can't produce your best work, how can you compete with those creators who are sincere and dedicated?

The word "reader" is by no means thin.

Behind the readers are vivid and complex people. They don't live in labels. Who do you dare to say you know?

Let's talk about the protagonist.

What kind of person is Jiang Wang?

On the battlefield, you can always give your back to him. As long as he doesn't die, there will be no arrows coming from behind you.

No matter what, as long as he promises you, he will definitely do it.

If you treat him well, he will definitely remember it. If you treat him badly, as long as it does not involve the bottom line, he may not remember it. But if you want him to die, then you are dead.

If you hurt him, he can sometimes laugh it off. If you hurt his friends, you are dead.

After experiencing a lot, learning a lot, being taught by many "teachers", and becoming a teacher himself.

What did he say to Chu Yao?

——"You are already the person that Master wants you to be. Keep the courage to be angry, don't forget the compassionate mood, do good things within your ability... This is what Master expects of you."

He only has this expectation.

Because he doesn't think he is great, and he knows that asking others to be great is the devil among devils.

He told Gu Shiyi that I am not a righteous man.

He told Jingtian Liuyou that we are all narrow-minded.

Finally, he said that you don't have to love me without reservation.

In the end, he grew up to be such a person.

He became the "Master Jiang" we are familiar with.

A "real person".

After everyone becomes what I am today, it is the White Jade Capital in the sky.

He is relaxed, comfortable, free, and happy.

He is a master who has attained the Tao, he has a city, and he can be calm in the face of praise or criticism.

He is a big man, and he will begin to understand the "big picture".

But is that all of him?

His core is still the original, the background educated by the ordinary but great father who sells medicinal herbs in the town. That ordinary father had no way to teach him how to face this cruel world well, and only taught him the initial justice, the initial compassion, and the simplest love.

So when he learned of Ku Jue's death...

He let go of the monkey in my heart and made a big fuss in the Heavenly Palace.

...

...

Unconsciously, we have talked so much again, and finally let us return to the original question - what is the pure heart?

In fact, the answer has been given in the text, and it has been answered many times.

It is the pure heart magic - never be tainted by other intentions.

It is the true self's way - calm the monkey in the heart, subdue the horse in the mind, imprison oneself with the four virtues, and do whatever one wants without breaking the rules. It is also to let go of the monkey in the heart, indulge the horse in the mind, open the Eight Precepts, and still be Wukong.

Back in June 2022, my answer to the comic's main writer was:

[In the end, "Red Heart Sky Survey" aims to reach a state similar to the impartiality of the sun. It shines on everything and is as fair as possible. But at the same time, it is not as ruthless as the sun and the moon, because it is "heart".

[It is Red Heart Sky Survey, not Red Sun Sky Survey.

Everyone has his own selfishness, and he is not a human being without selfishness.

Because of human nature, he can never be "fair and impartial", and can only be as close to "fair and impartial" as possible.

This is the ultimate theme of the Red Heart Sky Patrol that I envisioned, but as the protagonist Jiang Wang, he may not be able to reach that realm in the end. 】

This theme is too grand, just like the sun in the sky, it is out of reach.

So the Red Heart Sky Patrol can also be said to be that we (authors and readers), we are like the sun patrolling the world, observing everything in that world. But because of our (authors and readers) selfishness, it is inevitable that there will be some impact on that world. Whether it is a positive impact or a negative impact, we have truly affected that world.

This is the fairy world of love, and it is also our common fairy world.

————

This is my thinking at the time, and I am very happy that this novel is still moving forward firmly. Can it finally achieve our common expectations?

I don’t know.

Let’s wait and see.

Everyone, do you still remember the beginning of this novel?

——"The sun hangs high in the sky, and its light and heat are impartially sprinkled on the world. It does not distinguish between the old and the young, the noble and the humble. Great love is like ruthlessness."

The sincere answer is here.

...

...

Finally, let's summarize the achievements of this volume as usual.

During the serialization of "The White Jade Capital in the Sky", we have won the monthly ticket champion for three consecutive months and the best-selling champion for nearly four consecutive months (still continuing).

In the top ten of the new book friends list, we are the only "old book" with more than two million words.

The last chapter "Let My Heart Go", the twelve-hour chapter said that it reached the highest level of 14,000 in history. I remember that the previous peak "The Old Dream of Maple Forest" was 8,000 at that time.

Our average subscription has reached 54,682.

The twenty-four-hour subscription has reached 58,467.

The leader has reached 679.

I am very happy that after seven million words, this fairy world can still keep everyone looking forward to it.

I am very grateful to all the readers who have accompanied me along the way. Jiang Wang is indeed not alone in the long street, and he is indeed not fighting alone. Everyone is watching him——

My son has grown up.

I’m going to take five days off (only four days left).

Sorting out the plot and resting my spirit.

Updated at 12:00 noon on October 26, 2023.

I had already thought of the name of the twelfth volume, but suddenly I felt that the name was not very exciting, so I decided it in a few days.
