"Three Feathers"
Once upon a time there was a king who had three sons. The eldest and the second child are clever, but the youngest son is simple-minded and not talkative, and people call him "heartless".
The king was old and weak, and thinking of what happened after his death, he found it difficult to determine which son should inherit the throne. He called his three sons and said to them, "Whoever brings back the most beautiful carpet will inherit the throne."
He thought that way they would have nothing to argue with. He led his sons outside, blew on the three feathers, and said, "Separate up and follow the direction the feathers point to."
One of the three feathers was facing east, one was facing west, and the third flew straight up for a while before falling to the ground. The two older brothers laughed at the "heartless" younger brother because he had to stay in the local area, and then they went here and there to find the most beautiful rugs.
The little prince sat down on the ground very sadly, and suddenly found a floor door beside the feather. He lifted the cover, saw several stairs, and walked down the steps. Soon there was another door. He reached out and knocked, and heard someone say inside:
"The green maid is limping,
Lame puppies hop around,
Let's see who will come. "
When the door opened, there was a huge toad squatting there, surrounded by small toads. It asked the little prince what he wanted, and the little prince said, "I want the most beautiful carpet with the best texture in the world."
The big toad called a little toad and said to him:
"The green maid is limping,
Lame puppies hop around,
Bring the big box and have a look. "
Then the little toad brought a big box, the big toad opened the lid, and took out a carpet from the inside to give to "heartless". The rug was of such a fine texture, and so beautiful in pattern and colour, that no one in the world could weave it. After the little prince thanked the big toad, he took the rug and came out.
Besides, the two elder brothers thought the younger brother was stupid and believed that he couldn't find any good carpets, so they didn't want to bother to look for them. They all bought some rough woolen handkerchiefs from the first shepherd's wife they met. At this time, "Mindless" also came back, and he handed the extremely beautiful carpet to his father. The king looked surprised and said, "It is fair to say that the throne belongs to the little prince."
But the other two brothers quarreled and said that "Mindless" could not be king, because he didn't think well about everything. They quarreled so that the king was not at peace, and had to compete again.
Then the king said: "Whoever brings me the most beautiful ring will inherit the throne." Then he took the three sons outside, blew three feathers into the air, and asked them to follow the direction pointed by the feathers to find them. . The eldest prince and the second prince moved one to the other, and the feather of "Mindless Eye" rose upwards and then fell to the same place.
His brothers laughed at him, saying that he couldn't find the gold ring, but he took out the old gold ring and took it to the gold shop to have it remade. The little prince climbed down as before, and asked the big toad for the most beautiful ring in the world. Big Toad ordered the great chest to be brought, and from it took out a ring of sparkling jewels, of such exquisite workmanship that no craftsman on earth could have made it.
When the little prince brought the gold ring to the king, the father said, "The throne belongs to the little prince."
But the two elder brothers were still not reconciled. They kept putting pressure on their father to make him agree to try again. He also said that whoever brings home the most beautiful girl will succeed.
Still the king blew three feathers into the sky, pointing in the same direction as before.
"Misunderstanding" immediately went down to find Big Toad and said, "I want to bring home the most beautiful girl in the world!"
"Oh? Prettiest girl!" said Big Toad. "She's not at home at the moment. But you can take her home." And he gave him a hollow turnip with six little mice in it.
"Heartless," said the little prince helplessly, "What use do I have with these?"
Big Toad said, "Just grab a little toad and put it in."
He grabbed one and put it in. Before the little toad sat down, it immediately turned into a beautiful and dignified girl, the carrot turned into a real carriage, and the six little mice turned into six horses. "Misunderstanding" kissed the girl, and immediately drove the carriage back to see his father. His two older brothers came back afterward, and instead of going to the trouble of finding a beautiful girl, they brought back the peasant girl they met first.
When the king saw it, he said, "After my death, the little prince will inherit the throne."
The two elder brothers quarreled and said, "We don't agree with 'Mindless' being king!" The quarrel made the king almost deaf.
They demanded that a circle be hung in the center of the hall, and whose wife could jump through it would inherit the throne. They thought to themselves: "The peasant girl is strong and strong, and she will have no problem jumping over that hoop, but the pretty girl will fall to her death."
The king had no choice but to agree. First, the two village girls jumped over, but they were so clumsy that they broke their hands and feet; it was the turn of the little prince's beautiful girl, and she jumped over it lightly, as light as a deer. This time no one has anything to say. The little prince inherited the throne and became a wise king.
