Chapter 294: "Teaching and Educating" (Part 1)
Gotham City, a megacity on the east coast of the United States, is located on the East Coast with pleasant climate and beautiful scenery. It is adjacent to Blüdhaven in the south and the Imperial City in the north. It has a subtropical monsoon humid climate.
Looking down on the entire city from the air, Gotham presents a right-leaning rectangle, with the central commercial street roundabout as the center point, divided into four districts: east, south, west and north.
As mentioned before, the East District has docks and slums. It is the most chaotic but also the most vibrant district in the entire Gotham. The South is Gotham’s financial center and the new rich district. Most of the photos of Gotham City, with high-rise buildings and brightly lit scenes, were taken in this district.
The West District is Gotham’s old city and the earliest developed district. It has European-style manors and castles, as well as a large park. Gotham University is located at the junction of the West District and the South District. At the same time, it is also the best greening area in Gotham.
A part of Gotham City that is rarely mentioned is the North District, because it is a completely independent district. There is a Gotham River in the north of the central commercial street, which divides the entire Gotham into two parts, north and south, and the north of the Gotham River is the North District of Gotham.
On the west side of the Gotham River, that is, the southwest corner of the North District, is the famous Arkham Asylum, and in the southeast corner of the North District is the largest lighthouse in Gotham.
The main reason why the North District is not mentioned is that it is the birthplace of the Falconet family and the Twelve Families.
This has to start from the era when European immigrants ruled Gotham. When many people hear about the history of the Italian Mafia, they may think of the soothing and melodious music in the movie The Godfather, the light and shadow with old colors, the elegant voice of the old Godfather, the red poppy on the black suit, cigars, pistols...
But in fact, in that era, Italians in the United States were very discriminated against, because at that time, most of the people who came to the United States to work were from southern Italy, that is, the poor in Italy.
The noble European immigrants, estate owners and factory owners certainly looked down on these Italian barbarians from Sicily, so they did not allow them to get close to where they lived.
When Falcone and a group of people set foot on the land of Gotham, there were already many Italians living here, but they all lived in the most desolate and remote North District, because the other three districts, even the chaotic East District, were full of discrimination against Italians.
Falcone's history of prosperity began in the North District, and when he gradually developed his own power in Gotham, he built the separated and independent North District into his base camp, and established a series of estate buildings and security systems here.
The North District, divided by the Gotham River, is indeed a good place to be a base camp, but the European immigrants who came here first did not choose here because the terrain here is not very good.
The entire Gotham is high in the north and low in the south. The south and west are plains, while the north is hilly. Although the altitude is not high, it is obviously more difficult to build in the north than in other places, and only those unpopular Italians live here.
As Gotham has developed to this day, the North District has been built into a very complete gang station. The Falcone family's castle is located halfway up the mountain with the highest altitude in Gotham. For all Gotham people except Batman, this place is easy to defend and difficult to attack.
The locations of the other twelve families are also around the Falcone family's castle, and the rest of the North District serves the industrial chain of these gang family stations.
In the North District of Gotham, in Rich Manor, a lady with brown curly hair and rosacea wearing a white apron walked up the stairs quickly with a tray. She came to a room on the second floor. Two young police officers stood at the door, but she did not show surprise. Instead, she forced a smile and said to them: "Gentlemen, would you like a glass of water?"
"Oh, no, thank you, but you can't go in now. The case is being investigated."
"I know, I know..." The lady nodded, but seemed to want to look inside. She stretched out a hand under the tray and handed the police a roll of dollars. The young policeman coughed twice and said in a low voice: "I know you are worried..."
The lady wiped her eyes, showed a sad expression and said: "Yes, now The whole manor is in a panic, no one knows if they will be the next one..."
The police officer waved his hand and whispered: "Now everyone can see that this serial killer only targets the gang bosses. Okay, ma'am, you should go down first..."
The police officer looked back at the door he was guarding, squeezed the roll of dollars in his hand, and said: "I heard that Gordon has found a very powerful detective. It may not take long to find out who did it. Once it is found out, the Godfather will definitely not let him go."
The lady sighed, handed the tray in her hand to the young police officer and said: "In this case, I won't bother you. Please ask the gentlemen inside if they want water. If you need anything, call me again."
The police officer wanted to refuse, but the other man looked down at his watch and said to his colleague: "They have been in for more than two hours. Maybe they are thirsty. I will stay here. You can bring the water in."
The police officer didn't say anything. He nodded, then turned around and knocked on the door. A voice came from inside: "Come in."
When the police officer walked in with the tray, there were two people inside, one of whom was Gordon and the other was Batman, but the young police officer was not surprised by this. He just put the tray on the table and said: "Boss, if you are thirsty, there is water here."
Gordon nodded and waved his hand to signal him to go out. The police officer put down the water and went out. Obviously, he didn't want to stay in the room any longer, because in addition to the two living people in the room, there was also a dead person, and the death of this dead person was so tragic that the smell of blood filled the whole room.
He was sawed in half, and it was sawed vertically.
Batman said to Gordon: "A few days ago, I read all the information about the twelve disciples of Jesus. If I remember correctly, this kind of death should be the way an apostle named Simon the Zealot was executed. He was sawed in half along the middle of his legs..." Batman went around to the other side of the body. Gordon stood behind the table, far away from the body. Even for him, he rarely saw such a brutal crime scene. The body on the ground had most of the head on the left side and a small part on the right side. There was a certain distance between the two parts. The blood was almost all over the room. Gordon covered his nose and said: "Look, What happened?"
Batman frowned, he said in confusion: "In fact, I don't understand it a bit, the method is completely different..."
"What do you mean?"
"The murderer's method of killing Richie is completely different from that of killing Lawrence and Hawke..."
"What do you mean? Can you tell me in detail?"
Batman half squatted down, not minding the strong and choking smell of blood. He stared at Richie's tragic body and said: "If the death of the first two people still has some meaning of execution, that is, the kind of 'ritual sense' often advocated by perverted killers, Richie's death is too rough. Obviously, he did not die peacefully..."
Gordon whispered: "Anyone can see this, right?"
Batman pointed to a mark on the body and said: "Look here, look at his neck, there is a footprint mark here..."
Then he stood up again, pointed to the tail of the body and said: "One of his feet was wearing a shoe, but the other was not, and one shoe was thrown to the side, that is, there..."
Following Batman's gaze, Gordon looked at a shoe next to the body. Batman walked behind the foot of the body, then pointed to one of the feet of the body and said: "This foot without shoes has a slight fracture in the ankle joint and is very swollen."
"We can infer from this How did the murderer kill people? "
"The whole process is very simple. The murderer pushed Richie to the ground, stepped on Richie's neck with one foot, then bent down to grab his ankle, lifted one of his legs, and then took the saw and started sawing between his legs..."
"Obviously, at this time, Richie was still alive and had the ability to struggle. Because of the severe pain, he began to struggle desperately, and the man did not stop his movements at all. In order to catch the struggling Richie, he had to increase the strength of his hands, causing Richie's ankle to be fractured and his shoes to be pulled off..."
"What does this show?" Gordon put his hands on his hips.
"This shows that this is a very brutal murderer. He sawed a man in half alive. In the process, he ignored Richie's struggles and screams and sawed him from head to toe."
"At the same time, he should have considerable strength. Richie is 1.86 meters tall and weighs 80 kilograms. It is difficult to completely subdue him, not to mention sawing him in half when he is still able to resist."
"What puzzles me is that the method this time is completely different from the previous two times. I even doubt whether my inference is wrong. Is this a serial murder case?"
"Logically speaking, the first victim Lawrence died of crucifixion. The murderer drove wedges into his limbs, heart and head..."
"The second victim Hawke died of beheading, and the third The victim died by being sawed in half, which is the way the twelve disciples of Jesus died, especially the way of sawing a person in half. If it were not for the purpose of recreating the execution method of the Zealous Simon, no one would use such a time-consuming and laborious method to kill people..."
"But this case is completely different from the previous two. In the previous two cases, anesthetic drugs were detected in Lawrence's body, which means that he was anesthetized first and then nailed to death. During the nailing process, he had no ability to resist. "
"The same is true for Hawke. He was tied up first and then his head was chopped off with a knife. "
"But according to common sense, if a person has the power to kill Richie in such a brutal way, then he has no need to anesthetize Lawrence or tie Hawke up. "
"Lawrence is strong, but he is an old man after all. Hawke is tall but thin. Neither of them is as strong as Richie who is in his prime. The killer has the strength to subdue Richie and saw him in half, but he has to subdue the two people first and then kill them. This is very strange..."
"Perhaps, Richie's death was caused by two people working together?"
Batman shook his head slightly and said, "In the criminal psychology courses I have learned, in most serial murder cases, the murderer is one person, and no one else cooperates with the crime."
"In addition to the low probability of two mentally ill people with the same characteristics meeting each other, most serial murderers have a special obsession with committing crimes and killing people. They have their own unique understanding of murder."
"They are both They care about the results of the crime, and also pay attention to the process of committing the crime. They even enjoy the process of guiding the police to make wrong judgments and seeing experts suspicious and confused but unable to get answers. "
"Moreover, they are unwilling to share this happiness with others. They think that no one can fully understand them. They may use some innocent passers-by to achieve their murder purpose, but they will never cooperate with anyone sincerely. "
"They enjoy the pleasure of playing the whole world alone. They will not let the second person know their entire plan or help them, not to mention doing it so crudely..."
Gordon pursed his lips and looked at Batman. He said, "This doesn't sound like something you can learn from a psychology textbook."
"This is indeed not learned from a textbook."
"Your tone reminds me of someone." Gordon sighed.
"Then why didn't you invite him over?"
"Because I can't be sure whether he is analyzing the situation based on the crime scene or...revealing his crime process."
