Chapter 5 How They Met

Hu Lai pushed his bicycle into the door opening of the unit before the first raindrop hit the ground. Behind him, the rain came crashing down, as if someone poured a lot of basins of water from upstairs.

Hu Lai looked back and secretly called out for danger.

Then he pulled out the chain lock, threaded the wheels, and locked the bicycle to the iron railing of the stairs. Then he took his schoolbag out of the car basket, put it on his back, and went upstairs.

He knows that this world has changed in some distant places, but everything in front of him should remain unchanged. For example, the old community where his home is located has not changed at all.

In the crowded and narrow corridor, he turned aside to get out of the battery car that was being charged, passed the utility cabinet, and walked past the wall covered with small advertisements for sewer access and unlocking.

Hu Lai also saw the "murals" he painted on the wall of this corridor when he was in elementary school.

So he was very sure that the things around him hadn't changed.

But he still has a little bit of luck - if something must have changed, he hopes that his father can be changed and no longer oppose him playing football.

This is the only change that Hu Lai is willing to see around him.

After climbing up to the fourth floor, Hu Lai opened the door with the key, and heard his mother's busy voice in the kitchen, he asked tentatively, "Mom, where's Dad?"

If Dad didn't go to work today, does that mean something is different about him?

"Didn't your dad work late today? He left early." Mom's voice came from the kitchen.

"Oh……"

It looks like nothing has changed.

Hu Lai dragged his schoolbag back to his room. The first thing he did was not to take out his books to do his homework, but to dig out his mobile phone in the drawer at home, restart it, and check the balance in the WeChat coin purse.

Forty-eight seventy-three.

Well, it really wasn't that my account was hacked, but that the world had changed.

Hu Lai took out the ten yuan from Fatty Song from his school uniform pocket, and spread it on the table.

Now his total assets are fifty-eight seventy-three dollars.

He breathed a sigh of relief.

His life hasn't changed, which means it won't get any worse, and he's got ten bucks more.

Hu Lai felt that he had earned it.

Of course, he would not tell Fatty Song the truth.

Li Qingqing had already taken a shower, blown her head, changed into a large white men's T-shirt as pajamas, sat cross-legged on the bed and played with her mobile phone.

The things she moved in in the afternoon were still stacked on the table and the floor, and they were basically not cleaned up. Only the bed was made in this room.

There was a knock on the door and Dad's voice outside the half-open door: "Hurry up and go to bed, Qingqing, you have to report to school tomorrow."

"What does Mom and Dad's alma mater look like?" Li Qingqing asked.

Li Ziqiang who was standing outside the door smiled: "Didn't you see it tomorrow?"

"Yes."

"Hurry up and go to bed. Everyone is very tired today, and we have to get up early tomorrow. You can't be late for school on the first day."

Li Qingqing got into the quilt obediently, only showing a pair of eyes, looking at her father outside the door: "Good night, Dad."

"Good night, Qingqing." Li Ziqiang turned off the light in his daughter's bedroom and closed the door for her.

Amid the pattering rain outside the window, through a door, the sound of Dad's footsteps coming downstairs was distant and indistinct.

Li Qingqing opened her eyes wide and looked out the window.

Against the background of the black sky, there are white raindrops hanging down from the eaves, as if hanging a bead curtain on the night.

That's the school where Mom and Dad met...

Li Qingqing was a little nervous and hopeful.

A modern school gate is reflected in the puddle. The four copper characters "Dongchuan Middle School" above the school gate have been washed and cleaned by rainwater.

In the morning sun, it is shining brightly, as if it has been plated with a layer of gold, and it is no longer the dull and dull appearance before.

The school gate below the four large characters has been almost closed, leaving only a small entrance on the far right for people to enter and exit.

The bustling flow of people is the most common sight below this school gate, but not at this moment.

The bell for morning reading had just rang, and the sound of reading was faintly heard at the gate.

The reflection in the puddle is like a static painting, reflecting every peaceful morning in this middle school.

Until one foot swung the water out of this puddle.

The tranquility was broken by hurried footsteps and heavy breathing, just like a broken picture in a puddle.

When the shattered reflections in the water condensed again, in the slightly shaking picture, a thin figure in the uniform of Dongchuan Middle School was rushing in from the small entrance.

"Which class!" A loud shout sounded from the guard room.

"Senior Class One and Two—" The figure had already run away, and the answer came from afar.

The bell for the morning reading has been ringing for three minutes, there is no one on campus, and the sound of reading is heard one after another in the teaching building in the distance.

Li Ziqiang strolled in this quiet campus, looked around, and then landed on a four-story L-shaped teaching building. There is a six-story building next to this building. The beautiful glass curtain wall and white walls are particularly eye-catching in the sunshine after the rain.

Against the background of the beautiful new teaching building, the low building next to it is even more ugly.

He said with emotion: "When I entered school, this was still a teaching building called a new building...now it has become an old building."

A white-haired old man next to him laughed and said, "After all, that was thirty years ago."

"Yeah, it's been thirty years...you're about to retire, and my daughter has become a student of Dongchuan Middle School." Li Ziqiang sighed. This life, going round and round, came back again.

When the old principal heard this, he thought of the situation when he saw Li Qingqing just now.

When Li Qingqing was led into his office by Li Ziqiang, the old principal was in a daze, thinking that time had gone back thirty years ago.

That youthful and vigorous face, the tone and manner of saying "Hi Principal" to him with a smile are almost exactly the same as that female student thirty years ago.

He suddenly wished that time could really turn back thirty years. Thirty years ago, he was not the principal, but an ordinary teacher, but he could be thirty years younger. Most importantly, the girl is still alive...

Seemingly noticing the headmaster's trance, Li Ziqiang pointed to his daughter with a smile, and said in a very proud tone, "Like her mother?"

The old principal who came back to his senses nodded: "Well, it's not like you."

Li Ziqiang laughed loudly.

Li Qingqing was wearing the school uniform of Dongchuan Middle School, carrying a schoolbag, and followed the head teacher, walking towards the classroom step by step.

However, her eyes cast her eyes on the building next to her through the closed glass window.

Although she had never been to this school before, she could tell at a glance that the dilapidated old building must be the place where her father and mother attended classes.

Dad and Mom met in that corridor, right?

Dad once said they weren't in the same class at first, so what was it like when they first met?

In the corridor between classes, how did they see each other across so many people?

When seeing each other, will they realize that they will walk together in the future?

How many times did they meet before they got together?

The head teacher who was walking in front did not go directly to the front door of the classroom, but quietly stopped at the back door, then tiptoed slightly, and looked into the classroom through a small window above the back door of the classroom.

The sound of reading in the classroom remained the same without any change.

Li Qingqing was not in a hurry, and just waited for the head teacher to finish observing. She continued to look at the building next door, full of curiosity.

At this moment, she saw a figure rushing past in the open space between the two buildings, and quickly got into the blind corner of her sight and disappeared.

Ah oh, I don't know which unlucky guy is late.

Li Qingqing thought.

Then she withdrew her gaze, followed the homeroom teacher who had finished monitoring, and continued to the door with the sign of "Senior Class One and Two".

When the figure of the class teacher appeared at the front door, the voice in the classroom was obviously quieter, and many students looked up at the class teacher standing at the door.

In the eyes of everyone, the head teacher first nodded to the English teacher in the classroom, then walked into the classroom, stepped onto the podium, and looked at the dozens of students below.

The middle-aged female teacher didn't say a word, but just glanced around with serious eyes, and all the sounds in the classroom disappeared, including the normal sound of reading.

"Everyone, pause for a moment. A new classmate transferred from our class today."

After finishing speaking, she waved to Li Qingqing who was standing outside the door: "Come in."

Curious students can't wait to cast their eyes on the past.

They saw the door go dark, and a tall figure was outlined by shadows in the morning light.

The girl with the ponytail strode briskly onto the podium, then stood beside the head teacher with her hands behind her back, smiling.

The sun slanted in from outside the door and hit her side face. The fine down on her face was illuminated by the sun, drawing a circle of gold around her outline, and her long eyelashes were trembling slightly, as if there was a breeze passing by in the classroom.

In the early morning sunshine, a deer jumped out from the bushes, and just jumped into the hearts of all the boys present.

Someone let out a soft sigh: "Oh..."

Some girls looked at Luo Kai nervously, and found that Luo Kai was also staring blankly at the new classmates on the podium...they were heartbroken.

"This is Li Qingqing who has just transferred to our class." The homeroom teacher pointed to Li Qingqing and said, "Li Qingqing, please say hello to everyone."

All the boys unconsciously straightened their upper bodies and raised their heads, trying to make themselves look better and more handsome.

Even Song Jiajia is no exception. He transformed from a football lying on the table to a standing football.

Under everyone's gaze, Li Qingqing still maintained a smile, she lightly parted her lips: "Everyone..."

A burst of hurried footsteps interrupted her next words, the sound echoed back and forth in the closed corridor, and became extremely loud, attracting everyone's attention—someone turned to look Outside the classroom, someone cast their eyes on the empty seat beside Song Jiajia.

"Report!!" A figure appeared at the front door of the classroom, and he grabbed the door frame with his hand to prevent himself from being thrown out.

Immediately, Li Qingqing was no longer the focus of the scene, but the panting figure at the door.

Even Li Qingqing looked over curiously - it turned out that the unlucky guy was her classmate...

It was a thin and embarrassed figure, with sweat dripping down his cheeks from his temples. Although someone called to report, he leaned on the door frame with his hands on his knees at this moment, completely ignoring the head teacher's killing eyes, burying his head in self-care, panting heavily.

Then Li Qingqing heard the voice of the class teacher beside him gnashing his teeth: "Hu Lai! Go to the playground and run three laps for me!"

There was a burst of gloating laughter in the classroom.

"Oh, good..." Amidst the laughter, the boy readily agreed, and then raised his head.

Li Qingqing saw the face of this unlucky guy who was late, and was taken aback for a moment - wasn't this the one with the frisbee in the open space downstairs at home yesterday...wasn't it the one who kicked the ball?

The boy seemed to have noticed Li Qingqing's suspicious gaze, and he also looked curiously at the figure standing next to the homeroom teacher, then turned around and ran towards the corridor, and the sound of "dong dong dong" footsteps was heard again in the corridor.

After the footsteps disappeared, the homeroom teacher signaled Li Qingqing to greet her again.

This time, no one bothered her anymore. Li Qingqing greeted the whole class with a smile: "Hello everyone, my name is Li Qingqing, and I will transfer to Dongchuan Middle School from today. I like football. I hope to spend three years with you here good time."
