Chapter 928 Unusual Things

"Something unusual?" Harry was a little confused and shook his head.

Somewhere above them, a woman started screaming again.

Snape strode to the door, wand in hand, and rushed out. Harry hesitated and followed out.

The screams did come from the hall, and grew louder as Harry ran up the dungeon steps. When he reached the top, he found that the foyer was packed with people, all students having dinner running out to see what was going on, and some crowding on the marble stairs.

Harry squeezed out from a few tall Slytherin students and saw everyone gathered in a circle. Some people looked very shocked, while others were frightened.

Professor McGonagall was standing opposite Harry. She looked uncomfortable. Professor Trauni stood in the center of the foyer, wand in one hand and an empty wine bottle in the other, looking absolutely crazy. Her hair was a mess, her glasses slid to the side, and one eye looked larger than the other. Her shawl and silk scarf fell from her shoulders to the floor, giving the impression of a complete collapse.

Two boxes lay on the ground beside her, one upside down, as if it had been thrown down the stairs.

Professor Trauni's eyes were straight, obviously frightened. There was something by the stairs, but Harry couldn't see clearly.

"No!" she screamed, "It's impossible, it's impossible, I refuse to accept it!"

"Don't you understand yet?" A high-pitched girl-like voice said, sounding gloating. Harry turned to the right and saw that Professor Troney's frightening expression came from Professor Umbridge.

"You can't even predict tomorrow's weather. From my report you should understand that your poor performance and complete lack of improvement are not enough to warrant your dismissal?"

"You can't-can't!" Professor Troney howled, tears pouring down from behind her glasses, "You can't-can't fire me! I've been here for sixteen years! Hogwarts is-is My home!”

"It was your home," Umbridge said, and Harry looked at her toad-like face with an expression of amusement in disgust. He watched Professor Trauni cry uncontrollably and look at one of her boxes.

"An hour ago, the Ministry of Magic issued your dismissal order. Now please get out of here. You are a shame to us." But she still stood there watching, looking contented.

Professor Trauni cried, trembled, and staggered back toward her trunk, in agony. Harry heard a muffled cry to his left, and turned to look. Lavender and Parvati were both quietly crying, holding each other's hands.

Then she heard footsteps. Professor McGonagall walked out from the onlookers, walked straight up to Professor Trauni, patted her hard on the back, and pulled out a large handkerchief from her robe.

"Here, Sybil, stop crying and blow your nose. It's not as bad as you think. You don't have to leave Hogwarts."

"Oh, really, Professor McGonagall?" Umbridge said defiantly, taking a few steps forward. "What right do you have to say such a thing?"

"I give her authority." A deep voice said. The oak front door opened. The students made a way and Dumbledore appeared in the doorway. Harry didn't know what he was doing outside, but he stood in the doorframe, giving off a certain impression against the foggy night. He came from the door, passed through the crowd, and came to Professor Trauni.

She was sitting on the box, with tears on her face and trembling slightly. Next to her was Professor McGonagall.

"Your authority, Professor Dumbledore?" Umbridge smiled obnoxiously. "I don't think you understand the situation. I have this—" she pulled a roll of parchment from her robes "—a dismissal order signed by myself and the Ministry of Magic. The Senior Investigator has powers under Education Act 23 Conduct an investigation and, based on the results, dismiss any teacher who, in my opinion, does not meet the requirements of the Ministry. I have dismissed Professor Trauni."

To everyone's utter surprise, Dumbledore was still smiling. He looked at Professor Trauni, who was still sitting on the box crying.

Dumbledore said, "Of course you are right, Professor Umbridge. As Senior Investigator you have the power to fire my teachers. However, you do not have the power to expel them from the castle. I'm afraid," he said , bowed politely, "Only the principal has this power, and I hope Professor Trauni remains at Hogwarts."

"N-no, I'm go-go, Dumbledore! I'd better get out of here and find my luck somewhere else-"

"No," Dumbledore said quickly. "I want you to stay here, Sybil." He turned to Professor McGonagall. "Professor McGonagall, could you accompany Sybil upstairs?"

"Of course," said Professor McGonagall. "Come on, Sybil."

Professor Sprout ran out of the crowd and took Professor Trauni's other arm. Together they walked past Umbridge and went upstairs, taking her with them.

Then Professor Flitwick ran over, wand in hand, saying "The box floats!", and then Professor Trauni's box rose up, followed up the stairs, followed by Professor Flitwick.

Professor Umbridge stood there motionless, glaring at Dumbledore with a look of disapproval on her face but still maintaining a fake smile, who still smiled kindly.

"So," she whispered, for the entire foyer to hear, "what are you going to do once I hire a new prophecy teacher and I need to live in her dormitory?"

"Oh, that's not a problem," Dumbledore said cheerfully. "You see, I've found a new prophecy teacher who's willing to live on the ground floor."

"Have you found—?" said Umbridge harshly. "Have you found? I remind you, Dumbledore, that according to Education Act 22—"

"The Ministry reserves the right to appoint a suitable candidate if - just if - the Headmaster cannot be found," said Dumbledore. "I'm glad I found it. Can I introduce it to you?" He turned his face to the door, and the mist was flowing in the night. Harry heard a scream.

People in the foyer immediately started whispering in surprise. People near the door stepped back in fear, and some people hurriedly made way. A face emerged from the mist. Harry had seen him in the Black Forest on a dark and dangerous night. He has silver hair, blue eyes, his head and upper body are that of a man, and his lower body is that of a horse. "This is Firenze," Dumbledore said to the shocked Umbridge, "I think you will find him suitable." (To be continued)
