Chapter 1459: Lu Duo's Parents
Tong Siyao chatted with refugees in their tents to collect some information.
The doctors outside were setting up camp, and many refugees with diseases lined up there. Several doctors casually set up a table and began to see patients in the open air.
Tong Siyao hurriedly put away her pen and paper and went out with her camera.
She took some photos and went to help the doctor sort out the medicines. A blond man asked in English: "Are you not from here?"
Tong Siyao nodded and talked to him in English.
"Are you the October?" he asked.
Tong Siyao paused and nodded: "You guessed it."
"This name is definitely not real. Why is it called this? Is it because of that incident?"
Tong Siyao knew that he was referring to the terrorist attack on the United States on October 10 last year. She shook her head: "My son was born in October."
And it happened to be October 10. She didn't know about such an international event until two days later.
"Mike, we need your help over there." A female voice came.
Mike hurriedly said to Tong Siyao: "Excuse me, I'll go over first."
Tong Siyao turned her head and saw a woman with black hair and black eyes. She nodded gently, and the other party responded friendly, and then went to work.
Two hours later, everyone stopped.
Tong Siyao was about to return to the refugee camp when the woman just came over, "Are you Chinese or..."
"Chinese." Tong Siyao smiled.
The woman smiled and said: "I am also Chinese, call me Helen, they all call me that, it's easier to remember."
Tong Siyao nodded: "You can call me Yaoyao."
"Okay." Helen handed her a bottle of water, "Thank you for your hard work just now, we are really short of manpower here."
Tong Siyao hurriedly declined: "Don't waste it, keep it, just boil water for nothing."
After hearing this, Helen didn't continue to give it to her. In this place, all resources must be saved, not to mention precious water.
"Go sit over there." Helen pointed to the side.
Tong Siyao naturally agreed. She still wanted to interview these people, so it would be better to cultivate some feelings first.
After sitting down, Helen asked, "How long have you been here?"
"Three months."
"What do you do usually? Busy?"
Tong Siyao shook her head: "I can't be busy even if I want to. Sometimes I feel desperate and can only watch some things happen. For example... death. Those who are dying are waiting to die, and those who are not dying watch him die."
Helen is used to life and death, but she is not touched at all. She just sighed softly: "Sometimes we doctors are powerless. When I first encountered such a thing, I felt useless and couldn't recover for several days. Now I know that I can't save the whole world. Even if I save this one in front of me, there are more in places I can't see."
Tong Siyao didn't say anything. She knew this truth, but she couldn't be so calm. Many times she felt very uncomfortable. The only thing she could insist on was not mixing these emotions when reporting, using the most objective attitude and keeping the ethics of a journalist.
"Helen." A Chinese voice came.
Tong Siyao turned around and saw a middle-aged man coming over. He looked Chinese and familiar.
Tong Siyao thought about it, and suddenly got startled. She looked back at Helen again—they were Lu Duo’s parents. She had seen Lu Duo’s encyclopedia information.
“My husband,” Helen said, “his last name is Lu.”
Tong Siyao stood up uncomfortably and shook hands with Lu Yang: “Hello, Mr. Lu.”
